The food here is so great as are the array of drafts. The service can be a bit snooty at times, but I think in general it's a great venue.

Attention Americans: No USD or U.S. Credit Cards. Bring Canada bucks. That said. Phenomenal beers. All top quality. You can buy growlers here too. Though I wish the growlers had designs printed in to them (the glass). They are plain, no artwork or information. Pub fare food, all really, really good. -Fish and chips. -Burger. -Poutine. -Lamb. You know what I'm talking about... Nice atmosphere both inside and out. It's off the beat and path in the locals part of town. We really enjoyed it.

While visiting a good friend of mine in Limoilou, we ended up at La Souche because it was near his apartment. I ordered a pizza with a Sour beer, and they were both excellent. The pizza is not like the traditional Eastern Quebec style pizza, which is puffier and full of cheese, but more akin to a thin crust one. The base can be criticised as to cracker-like by some, but I thought it did the job well at delivering the sauce and cheese into my mouth. The beer was amazing, a very sour cassis beer, with a mineral finish. It was one of the best sour beer I had in a very long time. Would recommend it if you are in the area.

Pretty cool place. Best part was the onion soup! Way different than usual but the broth was out of this world! The atmosphere was nice, kind of a hipster outdoorsy vibe. Service was slooow after we ordered. Waited about 40 min to get our food. I'd say you have to get the onion soup, no question. The poutine and hot sauces were good too. Solid place for a good lunch. The place is more like a 3.5 but I lean more towards a four than a three. The other dishes looked great!

An upscale brew pub slightly outside of the city center, it's hard to decide if La Souche is a restaurant with great beer or a brewery with great food. The poutine is award winning, in contention for best in Quebec with huge chunks of cheese curd that forms delicious strings on the fries. The thick savory gravy also washes down well with a strong smoked porter, brewed on site. Service was very friendly as well, even in English. The atmosphere and decor are reminiscent of a si lodge with lots of wood including the spectacular huge beer menu written on wooden slats.

My boyfriend and I always stop here when we are in Quebec. They have options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans! The fried cheese balls for an app is a MUST! You will not be disappointed. We Will continue to come here every time we are in Quebec.

Found this place accidentally, but glad we did. Beer was very very good. We didn't try the food, but it looked and smelled good.

Their menu shows alcohol content and their notes. Appetizers only before 5pm, which is what we had. We had the chili appetizer and the French onion soup, and potato wedges with in-house mayo. Chili app was served more on the solid side and served with nacho chips and fixins. Think not of traditional chili soups, but rather chips and dip! French onion soup was rich in flavor, topped with crusted bread and cheese. Our potato wedges were broiled and their mayo was good. Service was friendly and efficient and fast. Interior is casual, clean and comfortable. Would recommend giving this place a shot for a quick drink!

I suspect most of the reviews are based off the beer list and not the food. Let me say service is impeccable and our waiter was amazing. I ordered the cider which was amazing and not sweet but tart. My son ordered the burger and I had the chicken roll for lunch. Both items came with a salad that was delicious. The burger and chicken roll fell short. My son's burger was dry and not flavorful and I could've made myself a much tastier chicken salad at home..... the four stars is definitely for the service and beer. They need to up the food game, but overall a pleasant experience

They have great vegetarian options as well. We ordered the shrimp roll, bánh mì, sun-dried tomato lentil dip with pita, and the halloumi salad - everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We sat outside where you can choose between sun or shade, which was really nice after being out biking all day. You can tell the people working here take pride in what they do. They were right next to the large pick-up window looking into the kitchen, and our host then said "These are the people who will be preparing your dinner", and introduced us to each person in the kitchen... by name. This is a very small place, cozy and atmospheric. If there are just two of you, sitting at the bar is the way to go. It's where you really feel the vibe and see what makes this place so special. The food is off the hook, and changes so frequently that it's pointless for me to highlight specific dishes. We had an amazing charred broccolli, a seasonal morel dish, razor clams, and unique egg mayo concoction. Doesn't matter. the food will be exceptional whatever they are serving. Thier Michelin Bib Gourmand (exceptional food at reasonable prices) designation is well deserved. But if the soul of Buvette Scott is the food, the heart is Marine, who appeared to be the only server on duty while we were there. She is a transplanted Brit (I believe), with a quick smile and a sassy outlook. Even as busy as she was, she had the time to engage us and make us feel like we were old friends. Stories were told, laughing was had. We were the last two left from the first dinner seating that day, and Marine and part of the kitchen team sat at the bar with us as we finished and shared insights about Quebec City and how they ended up there. Rarely have I felt so comfortable and at home in a place I have never been before. Really good restaurants serve up really good food... But truly great restaurants provide an experience that impacts you on many levels, and holds a place in your memory. Buvette Scott is a truly great restaurant.
