El Jefe was at the Revival Vintage Bottle shop and Bar for a Yelp event. We got to meet the owner and mingled a bit. We loved the slow cooked corn and classic Cuban so much that I told him we are going to pay him a visit very soon. Here we are 4 days later. They are located at the Covington Yard. There are two other food vendors on the property. We ordered: -Classic Cuban (8") -3 Tacos Caribbean style w/ chicken -Large order of tots We got our meals less than 15 minutes. Wow! The Cuban sandwich is everything I've expected it to be! Super delish! You don't need hot sauce in my opinion, it's packed with great flavor. Btw, they have mass hot sauces to choose from. We tried 3 different kinds for our tots. My Mr really enjoyed his tacos. The seasoned tots were so good! Not greasy and tasted great with their signature sauce (tasted like a yum yum sauce). All hit the spot!!!! What a great experience and I can't wait to come back again and try other items on the menu, but my fave is hands down their Cuban sandwich! read more

We experienced a little of this spot at a Yelp event and wanted to get the full experience so we went for lunch. Absolutely glad we did because it was even better there. The Cuban sandwiches here are the best I've ever had. But that's not all they have to offer. They also have quesadillas, tacos, tots, and Cuban corn. Here's everything we tried this time: -Classic Cuban (8") -3 tacos Caribbean style with chicken -Large seasoned tots You order at their booth at the outdoor portion of the Covington Yard, then they give you a pager, and they give you a buzz when your food is ready. Want it hotter? They offer a plethora of hot sauces to kick up the heat. But everything was SO good that we didn't need any extra heat. My tacos were fantastic and my lady loved her Cuban sandwich. Been to Covington yard a few times but never tried any of the food trucks. Chose this place out of options and was very satisfied. We all ordered Cubans but I decided to cart the spicy one. Had great flavor And kick to it. Taters tots on point too. Would have like a little more meats on the sandwich just my two cents. Ready to try more next time! read more

Staff and service were friendly. The Cubano I ordered came out fresh and was delicious. One of the best I've ever had. Only one drawback id say would be the tots that came with it were a bit overseasoned/salty but other than that i would definitely recommend giving this business a try in their new location. El Jefes makes really delicious, generously-sized Cubano sandwiches. My husband and I split a classic Cubano sandwich and a large order of the seasoned tater tots, which, by the way, were amazing. We would've had tots to bring home if we could have stoped saying "just one more." Love having this option available at Covington Yard! Fantastic cubanos, only thing I would ask for is to give me the option of a Miami or Tampa style cubano. My family of origin immigrated from Cuba to key west and then settled in Tampa. We always identified with the Tampa style and I would love to get a place that offered them. read more

I used to live in Atlanta, there was this hole-in-the-wall Cuban sandwich shop operating probably illegally out of the back of a gas station. The sandwiches were 100% legit. I've been in search of that same sandwich ever since. I'm happy to report that El Jefes is that place. The Cuban was so good. I also wanted to see what else they had to offer, so I asked El Jefe what their #2 order is after the traditional Cuban. He advised me that I should get the Caribbean Chicken Tacos. I planned on having half of the Cuban and half of the tacos for dinner, but three tacos don't divide evenly - so I ate everything. And gluttony was the way to go. My god, El Jefe knows what he's doing. It's a cool place, easy to find...and your dog can join you. Bonus! read more

Great Cuban sandwich and the tots are over the top good! Jefe is a cool dude and a local chef interested in making the best food possible. Bread is flown in, mustard, pickles, and all ingredients are top notch. Plus, it's just fun to sit at Covington yard and have it all right there. I'll be back a lot! read more

Tried this place for the first time ever and let me just tell you! The amount of food you get for the price you pay is crazy! Most places are outrageous and give you small portions, but Jefes Cubanos every time, leaves you and your wallet happy! Today I wasn't sure what I wanted so I tried BOTH! The chicken and pork itself... Is to die for! So much flavor and unlike anywhere else I've been to. Typically anywhere is too dry or too bland. Not here! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The crew is so friendly and Jefe runs a great business! If you ask myself and my daughter, it's 10 STARS! All the way. This is a must have if you're ever near Covington. Budget friendly, great food, great atmosphere, and GREAT people! read more

We tried El Jefe's Cubanos & More, which is located inside Covington Yard. The food was amazing! We shared a half Cuban & Loaded tots, plus tacos. Wow, the Cuban was fantastic! Finally an authentic Cubano in greater Cincinnati! Everything about the Cuban was on point. Jefe told us that he gets his bread sent from Miami, FL. Unfortunately most of the Cuban was gone by the time I took a photo. The photo DOESN'T do it justice. My husband ordered the Caribbean taco with pork (not pictured), which he said was the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. I had the American taco, and also chose pork. It had a generous portion of pork, along with VERY good barbeque sauce, & matchstick potato sticks (the pic shows a partially eaten taco). We barely got into the loaded tots (too full) but they were delicious! The tots were perfectly cooked (probably best I've had), generous amount of pulled pork, melted cheese, and signature sauce. (The tacos are available with choice of pork or chicken.) There are lots of other options in the menu. Jefe was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere at Covington Yard is fun, a great place to hang out and watch a game, eat, and have drinks. We will be back very soon! (Jefe also caters) read more

The food is so flavorful. Being a vegetarian, there are still plenty of options. I've had the food delivered and it's still hot and crispy!

By far the best Cuban in the area! I've had a lot in and around Cincinnati and this one is way above anything I've ever had. The tamiami sauce they use on it is to die for! Highly recommend this place! read more

Stopped by Yards after Eagles/Bengals game. After a 10 minute wait for a sandwich I went to to counter to ask what the status of my order was. order taker and cook conversed where the cook said it would be an additional 10 minutes bc he didnt realize she put in an order of wedges since they were out of tater tots. I suggested since there was only two of them they should communicate together for orders. The cook/owner proceeded to tell me to "shut the fu k up and leave bitch". It was the worst most disrespectful experience i have ever experienced. Would never recommend unless you want to be be degraded because they are the overwhelmed. he later apologized but was a little too late. Never even got to experience food as he cancelled my order. Many witnesses to this that were shocked to what they heard and saw! Bar manager of Yards said this was not the first incident with this owner/cook. Very sad this is how he conducts business read more
