Went here for the first time tonight to check out the new Mexican place in town. Overall, we were satisfied with the service and dinner, and the price is comparable to that of El Niagara. Specifically, the green and red salsas were excellent and flavorful with a perfect amount of spicy kick! The chips were fresh. The enchiladas, rice and beans were average but as mentioned the salsa was what set it apart. The margaritas are authentically flavored with real fruit and have a salty tang. No sugar added here! Personally, I'm still a fan of El Niagara (or Taqueria Las Cumbres if I'm in Crystal Lake), but this place is definitely worth a shot so you can decide for yourself!

    Delicious. Homemade and fresh.

Best kept secret in Woodstock for Mexican. Guacamole is great and also the Chicken Enchiladas. Quesadillas are Hugh. Good prices too.

It's great food, the best Mexican in Mchenry county. The homemade chips are awesome and the taco salad is delicious!

This is the real deal. Arriving at 5 pm on a Friday, we were able to get one of the nice booths,…read morebut within 30 minutes, it started filling up. However, they have quite a bit of bar seating. The place is unassuming from the outside, a block from the square without much around it, but quite welcoming when you enter. We were immediately welcomed and seated, and had good service throughout our meal. We got the guacamole to start, and it may be the best guacamole I've ever had - certainly near the top -- fresh and bright. Then I got the enchiladas with mole sauce. The mole was intense and rich, with incredible depth of flavor. There was rice and beans, too, which were good, but I didn't really pay attention to them - the mole was the star. My friend got the Chiles Rellenos and said that they were excellent, and was also thrilled that they had Coke in bottles (the unsweetened iced tea was good for me).

I've tried their tacos and most recently their steak salad. OMG, the steak salad is awesome. It has a mixture of lettuce and leaves, avocado, crumbled feta cheese, steak. We order it with the Ranch dressing. Next time I'm there I'll definitely snap a few photos. This salad is something I look forward to!! It is amazing and I love it!! Before your meal, you will get the chips and salsa. Their food is awesome and they have a lot to choose from. The not so positive...... on occasions, the service has been slow. Granted, they can get busy and perhaps they're under staffed from time to time, or maybe they get busy at random times and there's not enough servers to handle the crowds? I'm not sure, but the service can be very slow sometimes. I've been here maybe 8 times and outside of slow service, their food makes the wait, worth it!! The decor of the restaurant is lively and colorful, it's a small restaurant, so seating is limited, although they do have an outside patio on the side of the building. The waitstaff are friendly and try to be accommodating. Give it a try.

Has a pretty basic look to it. The food is pretty authentic, and has the flavors and spices. Basic looking place that kind of looks like a crap shack to be honest. It's located next to a house if you can believe it. The people living in it have to be smelling things all the time. As for this, it's probably been here quite awhile. There wasn't anyone else eating here, which is worrying. It's about $13 for a margarita. Pretty big, and it tasted like it was fresh and not premixed. It's about $10 for the Guacamole. This is basically one of the few vegetarian options. Comes with chips. The entrees are pretty meaty with things like tortas. Really not sure why it says there's many vegetarian options. There aren't, as the beans have so much lard they're almost off white. One bad thing about the food. The pretty high prices is another, but the food is still better than Taco Bell puke. For sure it's not among the best, but is among the best around here. It's located on First Street. There's the classic favorites and other things.

We ordered 3 steak tacos and 1 lengua taco, all with cheese added for an extra. 50 cents per taco. No big deal. The lady took our money and gave us the change back and sat there waiting and staring at the tip jar on the counter to see if we were going to put any money in the jar. Our food finally arrived and my wife wanted to open the tacos right away because she didn't think they added the cheese we paid extra for. We sat down at one of the tables and started pulling the tacos out of the bag. At this point it wasn't the cheese that I was concerned about, it was the size of the tacos. Look at my pictures. I put one of the sauce cups next to the wrapped taco to give you an idea how small these tacos were. I also took a picture with my hand next to it for a similar comparison. Nowhere on the menu did it say the tacos were mini street tacos. These tacos cost us with the cheese added $4.05 each. The only reason for the three stars is that the tacos were very good. I'm not giving it more because they don't make you aware these are expensive mini tacos. Enough said.
