My family has been getting food from Carlos every week for years and it has been consistently good. My husband often orders the huevos con chorizo and last time he ordered it it did not have any eggs in it, just ground chorizo. I called and told the girl who was working and she said it was probably ground up with the meat. My husband said usually there are big chunks of eggs but there were none. Carlos's employee did not not apologize or offer anything else. Imo that is very poor customer service. I was very polite but she didn't attempt to make it right. A friend of ours suggested this as a place to get take out for a movie night, and he made a great choice! I originally was going to try the skirt steak, but found out when my friend tried to order that they weren't doing anything with that right now because of the price increases for beef. That was a bummer and made me have to pivot in a hurry. I then went with the flautas, and they were fantastic! It's probably been almost twenty years since I have had any, and they were well worth the wait. I also liked the rice, though it wasn't really anything special overall. As much as I enjoyed the food, I have to go four stars because it was very difficult to see what they had without any kind of internet presence. Ordered Lengua Taco was really good the meat was a little crispy and salty with cilantro and onion. One pork tamale. My son had chorizo burrito was really good. What can I say other than, "Jesús Wept". Hands down the best "meat & three" (carne con frijoles, arroz y ensalada) Mexican food we're enjoyed since arriving in the Chicagoland area from North Carolina. Sure, it's in a strip mall, and the interior looks like a converted Chinese take-out joint, but their authentic approach to simple Mexican fare can't be beat! The Pork Tamales were so tender, they literally melted on your tongue - and, speaking of tongue, the Lengua Tacos were the best I've ever sampled. The delicately-fried Chile Rellenos arrived with a surprisingly sweetish red sauce and were topped with a pinch of melty cheese. The wife's Beef Chimichanga was the size of a small infant, and was filled with tender chopped steak bits and ooey, gooey cheese. But it was the re-fried beans - those wonderful, lard-infused beans- that made us purchase an entire quart to take home. All total (minus the re-fried beans) our entire meal was $21.00, and that included two bottles of non-alcoholic sangria! The plates would have certainly fetched $60+ in downtown Chicago, given the portion sizes and quality. Well done! read more

Picked up dinner for me and a friend last night. Our food was delicious. I had chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, which they put in a cup on the side. I liked that, rather than have them pour it on and risk having it leak out of the food container. The mole was also fantastic; great flavor but not too spicy. The rice and beans were really good, too. They leave some whole beans in the mixture; it's not total mush like a lot of Mexican restaurants. My friend said her steak enchilada was really good. We ate the guacamole too, which was fresh and delicious. When you walk in the door (during this Coronavirus), there is a long table on a diagonal set across the restaurant. The woman came to the other side of the table to bring my food to me and collect my money. She was wearing a mask. The restaurant itself looked very clean. The only complaint I have is that the woman charged me $4 too much. I took a menu home with me and looked at the prices later to add up my total because it seemed a little high. Yes, I added the tax in, too. However, she didn't give me a receipt, so I have no way of proving she overcharged me. I'll be sure to ask for a receipt next time. read more

Yes!! Best Mexican cousin in the area. My all time favorite it's the enchiladas rojas dinner. I always go for 2 cheese and 2 ground beef. When the skirt steak and enchiladas are featured at there special, I don't hesitate one minute. The food it's full of delicious flavors.
