But once inside, you will realize the hidden gem of Mexican cuisine you found while visiting McHenry. The prices are all very reasonable, and the service was very friendly when I dined in. They give you complimentary chips and salsa to start with, and then I had the camarones chipotle and a La Diabla - both were delicious. The Diabla wasn't too hot but had a nice flavor/kick to it. Overall, I'd recommend a visit if you're in the area and want some great Mexican food. read more

I was here once before and so tonight I brought the wife. We both ordered a steak dish but different versions. We were both blown away at the quality and taste of all the items on our plate. The rice was fresh with a light taste of lime. The beans were hot and full of flavor and not totally blended and the salad dish was more of a avocado salad mix(fantastic) but the winner were the steaks! To start we asked for some pick and that was also a standout. It was an easy five star rating just on food alone but service was also top notch. read more

Since moving to the area a few years ago. I have not been able to find authentic Mexican food. So I unfortunately stick to ordering tacos or something basic in an effort to avoid disappointment. This is a great little find in McHenry. The food was excellent and our server Maria was very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wide variety of authentic dishes on the menu to choose from. My boyfriend and I ordered from here just now for the first time and we got delivery. And I am impressed..and stuffed! Got chips and pico, and was so happy the chips are fresh, you can tell they fry them there. They even asked if I wanted the pico hot or not. Was delish! I ordered (in photo) the enchilada dinner. The enchiladas were in foil inside the container and the whole container was wrapped in plastic wrap. It got to our door and it was steaming hot when I opened it. We ordered 10 chicken tacos and 10 steak tacos for pick up. We were given 10 chicken and 10 fish. The fish tacos smelled and looked horrible. When we called to say we got fish instead of steak we were told that we were wrong and it's our problem. We were then hung up on not once BUT TWICE! Overall food quality is mediocre and general restaurant hygiene is lacking. They did reluctantly fulfill our steak tacos after having to call back 3 times. read more

Placed an order for delivery. We ordered two steak burritos and fries and two grilled cheese kids meals. The burritos were bland and flavorless and had very few fries. The kids meals, which come with fries' were sent with no fries. I called and they played stupid and said "oh you wanted fries?" I explained I order I Kids meals which came with fries and was told they would give me a credit for fries. Forget your credit. I'll pay less for tacos el Norte. read more

They are nice ppl and they know and their customers can't do math. So yeah they make their own calls! I totally wanna go back there to get tacoed again. We recently ordered from here and decided to get numerous items to share and sample. We loved it! We ordered the steak fajitas - The meat wasn't tough, it had a lot of flavor. The classic fajita vegetables were cooked perfectly. It wasn't crunchy nor soggy. The meal came with the traditional Mexican rice and beans. The rice wasn't dry or old. To be honest, I don't eat the beans. We also ordered the Chimichanga. It was VERY good. Again, the meat wasn't overlooked, under seasoned or over seasoned, it was perfect! Next was the Flautas. Those were ok. A little bland but nothing adding some sauces on it didn't help. The shell was perfect and had the right texture. As sides we ordered their salsa and guacamole with chips. Now, I was surprised with the salsa. We were expecting your typical red tomato salsa to come, but instead it was green and looked like puréed avocado with something in it. Turns out it's called Green Tomatillo Salsa aka Salsa Verde. (On their menu it's just called salsa). It has a hint of avocado, cilantro, with a kick. It was honestly fantastic. They should specify that on their menu though. I can see how this wouldn't be everyone's first pick. You can put this stuff on everything! The guacamole is just that. Delivery fee of $4 is steep. All that food fed a family of 5. They do need to spell check their menu though. Overall, it's great to finally have a Mexican restaurant deliver in Mchenry! read more

My family and I just moved to the Mchenry area and we have been on the search for some authentic Mexican food when late at night my pregnant self was craving some Mexican food searched up some Mexican restaurants near me and came across this one and let me tell you best thing that could happened to me we ordered Tacos al pastor which is a meat we had been looking to find a restaurant that seasoned it like the restaurant we go to in GA. Both my husband and I were so shocked to have finally found a place that resembles the meat they would prepare over there. So juicy and delicious, when my husband went the first time the very friendly lady working suggested the prepared chicken. At that time we had passed on the suggestion but let me tell you this is our 4th time visiting this location and finally tried the chicken and wow it was amazing even my picky eaters loved it. For those of you who have children you know what a struggle it is to find a place where you can buy dinner where everyone likes the food. Amazing job keep up the good work. Great authentic Mexican food with a friendly atmosphere. We had the chicken flautas meal which was delicious. Nicely flavored chicken, not at all bland or dry, good presentation served with pico, avocado, sour cream & cheese garnish (wish I had taken a pic, but I was starving!). We tried to order tamales too but they had run out for the day (another good indication they must be fresh!). The green salsa is a little different and maybe a bit thin/runny but still very tasty. Overall the meal was decent the only complant I have is the horchata was awful tasted like cinnamon medicine dont recommend ordering unless you like medicine. I've tried twice because, it says "delivery" on the sign. It doesn't say, "if we're too busy, we can't" or "it's going to be 90 minutes before we can deliver." Okay, I'll go pick it up. "30 minutes? Okay..." The steak burrito, and I use the word "steak" loosely. What cut of meat was that??? I'm pretty sure it was a cheap roast cut that they boiled. What wasn't fat or gristle was barely chewable. My burrito had a three inch long piece of gristle with about six knife attempts to it. Guys! If you knife can't cut through it, why are you putting it in my burrito??? No quality control. If there's more than 2 tables being occupied in the dining room, forget about delivery and carryout is slowed to a crawl. Not even worth a second chance. read more

They are over whelmed and need EXPERIENCED staff not family running the place. NO water was offered when we came in and it took a while to even order drinks(no ice tea by the way) because the one waitress was taking phone orders. Finally coke bottles were given. no glass, no straws. One delivery guy who didn't hustle. One cook who can't multi task. Nachos were canned cheese and tough "steak." Spicy shrimp was NOT spicy but over cooked in some sort of bottled chipotle sauce. Pretty sure beans were just out of a can too. Steak fajitas were decent but not melt in your mouth like they should be. No beans, rice, guac. or sour cream was offered with fajitas. I didn't even get a plate with the sizzling hot cast iron platter. I had to ask for all of the above. When we were ready to leave, no check had been written, she had to go find it somewhere in back and then had to check the menu for the prices. sigh. $44 for two with tip. Oh and all of this took 40 MINUTES with only ONE other couple in the restaurant. The nicest thing I can say is they are polite and the waitress was sweet, but seriously should not be a waitress. Thinking this is easily the best Mexican restaurant in McHenry. Had the spicy pollo asado and was thoroughly pleased. Phenomenal homemade chips salsa and guacamole as well. Liked how their menu has a lot of unique offerings. Staff is friendly and hardworking. Place was packed on Cinco de Mayo and their was only five of them working but they certainly managed. Thinking they're a family trying to live a dream of having their own restaurant but I'm not certain. Margaritas were average but beyond that everything was great.
