I want to love this place as much as the rest of my family does, but I just am having a hard time giving it more than 3 stars. Great things: - Friendly and helpful staff - Clean - Fast - Tasty chips and salsa - Amazing speciality drinks So, why the three stars? First, I'm not a whiny vegan, I just try to avoid meat. There are a lot of meat options on the menu, but only one non meat option (unless you start asking for substitutions). I have tried: - Veggie Burrito. This is on the menu, but it is just full of refried beans and rice, and wrapped in a big white flour tortilla. The second time I tried it I asked if they would put some fajita veggies on it. It was a slight improvement, but still way short of what it could become. - Chicken Salad (without the chicken) This was OK, but I will never understand how a restaurant can take the meat off something, give you nothing in return (like a few black beans) and then charge you the same amount. The shell was of course a bit greasy for my liking and it really wasn't much of a salad. There is potential here if someone really cared to make a great meatless Mexican salad. - Veggie Fajitas. This was a disappointment as well. They did show up with a nice pile of steaming peppers, onions and tomatoes. They were missing a couple of things. Why not add a bit more of variety to the veggies? Since they took the meat off it tasted like they forgot the seasonings. Value received for price paid was simply not there. So what do I suggest? I'm on a lifelong quest to find the perfect veggie burrito.  Unfortunately, after eating dozens of veggie burritos from Island Park to St. George, I am still looking.   I'm hoping one day I can find a chef that is willing scrape the mediocre off the plate and create something fantastic.  So far I haven't found any chef that seems to care enough to make a break from average.  So, my quest will continue.   I find myself asking why not?   - What if when the server brought out the dish that everyone looks at the amazing presentation and asks themselves, why didn't I get that? . - What if people came to the restaurant because they heard about the Burrito de Vegetales? - What if no one cared that there was not meat in it? - What if everyone of your servers could honestly say, when asked about the Burrito de Vegetales, that it is amazing? - What if this was your signature dish?   - Anyone can make great beef fajitas, but who can make a great Burrito de Vegetales? Perhaps it is time to start over.  Here is a suggestion.  Take your large oval dinner plate. Place a single black bean in the center.  Now open up your imagination and ask yourself.  What would make this amazing? Think about this: - Is a big white flour tortilla really the best wrap for this?  What if we made a whole wheat or multi-grain tortilla? What if we used a combination of corn and flour tortillas?   - It has to be big, really big and piled high.  Not a food torpedo, but a work of art. - It has to be colorful both inside the burrito and outside. - Re-think the rice. Should you really use the same old seasoned white rice?   - Re-think how you cut up the vegetables. Are long strips of onions and peppers really the best way to do this?  What would make it easy to eat with a fork so the whole thing doesn't come apart when I try to cut it with the edge of my fork.   - What new veggies could I add besides onions and peppers?  Eating a pile of onions and peppers gets old after a few minutes.   - What about, roasted sweet potatoes, corn, zucchini, spinach, cilantro, sun dried tomatoes, or julienne broccoli stems? The list could go on and on.     - It has to have avocados, but is it guacamole? I don't think so. Do something far more inspiring. - It needs a great tasting sauce, but probably not the same sauce that goes on the meat burrito.  This is where some real creativity could come out.   - If I put the black beans on the inside, what goes on the side?  Pinto beans? Rice? A Mexican coleslaw with a cilantro lime sauce? Pico? There is so much potential here, it seems a shame to waste your skills and your talent stirring up the same old boring thing using a white flour tortilla, rice, and re-fried beans. La Unica, you can do better. Be that place that creates the most amazing veggie burrito on the planet! I'll be back to see how your are doing. read more

Just discovered this place and was not disappointed! Very clean, and bigger inside than it looks from the outside. The owner is super friendly & cheerful! Very fast service and the food was fresh & delicious. The salsas are very good - I especially loved the green, really nice flavor and spicy. We will definitely be back! read more

We LOVE THIS PLACE!! My husband and used to go here often when we lived in Logan. Now that we moved away we make it a priority to go there whenever we pass through! 10/10 recommend the carne asada burrito with green sauce and the mango refresca. La Única serves probably the best most authentic Mexican food in Cache Valley. I had been craving GOOD Mexican food and this really was the best I've had in years since moving from the South Texas border. They have a huge menu with every Mexican specialty you can think of. I'm sorry, but 1 review? Every time I go in there's a line. Ive lived in southern cali for 20 years, and am a huge fan of Mexican food. La Unica's tacos are straight up from the cali streets. Since I've moved up here, I've tried all of the meats, and they're on par with socal street tacos. Their cabeza and lengua tacos are extremely good. I haven't tried chicken yet, because I don't want to "down" their chicken tacos. I guarantee you I've had better in that category. Awesome owner with a great personality. Great staff. This place is amazing: primarily for the food, but the service is just as amazing. Came in once with some buddies to get some tacos (which were fantastic) and we asked if we could get the Utah State game on the TV. They tried super hard to get it up for us, but ultimately were unable to. However, we appreciated the effort, and they truly showed that their number one priority is the customer. Being from CA, my husband and I have really struggled with being able to find good Mexican food anywhere in Utah, but this place blew us away! Salsa was delicious, they have lots of yummy drink options (strawberry Fresca is my favorite), their enchiladas are packed with flavor and their Birria tacos are perfectly juicy. I'm pretty picky about Spanish rice, but theirs was very tasty! The owner is an incredibly friendly man who let us try a few drink samples and helped us choose what to order, as newbies! Came here expecting great food and was disappointed. Both tacos I ordered hardly had any meat in them. The carne asada tacos, the meat was dry and very little meat and the chicharron tacos was all sauce and hardly any chicharron also. It was very disappointing since I came here after being told it was delicious. We also had a carnitas torta which the meat was over salted. Wouldn't come back to eat here. read more

Perfect. Went late at night when visiting Logan. Went again next night. Will do every time I'm in town. Been to plenty of Mex restaurants around the country and this is a stand out. Food - excellent. Walking in, it is very clean! There will probably be a line. The menu board is filled with options of different meats for tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, and more. They have tongue, head meat, tripe and other authentic meats in Mexican dishes. I ordered a burrito with pork. It was very flavorful! My wife ordered a chicken burrito, also very good. Each had a distinct taste, other than the taste of the meat. We sat down and were immediately served chips and salsa, a surprise to me. I heard a ton of great things about this place. I finally tried it for myself. I had a couple Carne Asada tacos and they were absolutely amazing and only cost one dollar. I also tried a couple cheese enchiladas. They asked me which sauce I wanted and I decided on red sauce. When I got home there was no sauce on the enchiladas but there was a container of red sauce and a container of green sauce. I'm on some medication that makes my tongue very sensitive to hot spicy foods. And all three of the sauces were very hot. I do love spicy food and I'm sure they were great if I wasn't on the medication that I'm on. I would definitely go back the tacos are amazing and I do want to try a another few items. read more

This is a quaint little Mexican restaurant with a bustling atmosphere suitable for a meal with family, friends or just by yourself. I went for my birthday and had my family inform the management. They turned a charming Mexican birthday song on the speaker system, dressed me up in a cute poncho and sombrero, and then gave me a free slice of my choice between tres leches and flan. Needless to say I was mortifyingly embarrassed and their video of the event is bound to have me tagged somewhere on one of their instagrams... I have never been to this restaurant once without running into the fun, extroverted owner who is always sure to share his suggestions whether you want them or not. At times it can be almost overwhelming to decide between the plentiful options, nonetheless I've never left disappointed. We love this place, and go once a month. Clean, inviting atmosphere, and good food. Staff are very attentive, and you will have chips and salsa (the best in town) at your table in a matter of minutes. Shrimp tacos, bean and cheese burritos, gorditas, refried beans, and enchiladas are our favorites, as are the homemade drinks (horchata, cucumber, etc.---though a bit overpriced). Wish they had salads. We've not enjoyed the carne asada (beef a bit grisly) or the chili verde (too fatty). But we've been often enough that we know what is good there, skip what we don't like, and just order from our favorites. read more

I am a regular at La Unica. I have tried over half of their menu now and you just can't go wrong very good food very high quality. The reasons for minus one star: a little inconsistent re: ordered the same thing and each time it was different but still good. And want more flavors in the tacos dorados, buying the most expensive taco I should be able to have what protein I want inside. read more
