OK burgers at a grossly inflated price. Can't understand the high ratings for a so-so burger joint that only serves odd-ball burgers. Why does everything they sell have to have aioli or arugula or some weird overbearing sauce. Would have been happier with a d nice burger with at least an option to get lettuce/tomato and onion on it. Our party of 3 tried different burgers and we all had complaints. Sauce WAY too spicy, the crispy onions on my Bob's burger looked like something that can out of a can and not real onion crisps and the other was just plain bland. All burgers were bland. Buns felt like day-old buns from the grocery store and were barely toasted. Clearly made in a rush. Fries were so-so regular fries were a bit over-done and the garlic fries were OK . First visit to Cooks Underground on Federal in Logan. Cozy environment. Order at counter or with QR code at table. The garlic fries are legendary, and come with choice of several dipping sauces. I had the Fire Aioli which went well. The burgers are of the semi-smashed variety and have a great crust. I got the Up In Smoke, which had bacon, provolone and a nice aioli sauce. They have bread puddings. Today's was Orange Marmalade, which was delightful. It even came with a pair of caramelized orange slices which may have been for decoration but are edible! I went with my husband and my parents and immediately felt like I didn't belong in there! Not a very welcoming atmosphere and the staff just gave us dirty looks the whole time. I was genuinely confused as to what we did wrong! My mom asked some questions about the menu and the employee at the register kept rolling his eyes at her and couldn't answer simple questions! I've tried all but 2 burgers here now and just can't pinpoint a favorite, they are ALL amazing. Fries are still legit, hand cut, made fresh. They have several kinds of fry sauces now and you just can't go wrong. Just to really impress, they're adding specialty items like bread pudding to the menu at times. I must caution you on one important point. The cooks in this kitchen are not really underground. They stand on Terra Firma. When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly host in such a way that I must say it was love at first sight for Cooks Underground. They had delicious looking burgers and fries but in this August heat I wanted a salad. They have some unique options here which was the drawing card for me. It's pretty rare to go to a restaurant that I have zero critiques but dang this is it. I had the Good Morning burger and my husband had the Ancho Libre and they both were killer. I would 1000x recommend the Good Morning burger as it had so many great elements that complemented each other perfect. It took the classic egg and bacon combo and elevated it with prosciutto, Brie, and arugula. Their fries are great, I think I preferred the ones with chili flakes. We also tried all of their sauces and enjoyed them all. My husband liked the Johnny Utah Fry sauce and I liked the House Fry Sauce. But again all great. The burgers here go absolutely crazy. I've never ordered something here that I don't like, and the overall feel of the place is very, very cool. The employees seem attentive and have always checked with me when my food's taken a little bit longer and fixed any issues I've had ASAP. I'm not a regular, but usually when I'm feeling like splurging a little bit and getting a burger this is is the place I go. They use a lot of local ingredients, like Gossner's cheese, and you can really feel the quality coming through. I often get their burgers that have eggs on them as a personal preference, they always cook the egg exactly how I like it. Which sounds silly, but sometimes you ask for an over-easy egg and you practically get a raw egg that throws off the whole balance of the burger. Not here, though. They also have other interesting burgers, like the Lost Ark burger, which has jalapeño poppers on them that tastes phenomenal. The theming is just... fun. Their garlic fries are also fantastic, my sibling's gotten the bread pudding and really enjoyed it, and their "minion pops" are hand battered mini-corn dogs that are as close as you can get to a fair corn dog without it being fair season.
