I loved this place during my visit. I came back several times to eat and try new things because it was so amazing. The bartender of the roof top bar that I was staying at knew the owner and said she was a friend and that she was French. Beautiful restaurant. I wish I remembered our server's name she was such an amazing and sweet person who went above and beyond to provide our small group of four service. I appreciated the free wifi because cell phone service can be spotty at times. The coffee was okay but I enjoyed my croque madame caprese more. We are desert lovers and for us this is heaven. So far this is the only restaurant-cafe to serve French pastry in Guanajuato. The young eager waiters are charming. Wonderful breakfast is a French cafe atmosphere in the middle of Mexico. I've been in Mexico for 6 months and this is the best French toast I've had here. Easily rivals some of the best I've had in the US. Fresh squeezed Orange juice and a cute little table on the balcony overlooking the street and plaza for some fun people-watching. Fast friendly service and food served at perfect temp(I'm a stickler about hot food being hot). We will be back next time we are in Guanajuato. read more

This restaurant is generally good, but it suffers from certain lack of oversight. I recently had a horrible experience when I went there for breakfast and was served a totally burnt omelette. The manager, a polite Frenchman, was aware enough to not charge and apologized; but nevertheless the experience was horrendously unsettling as I was there with a close friend who came under my recommendation. He too received a burnt omelette. The manager should have better quality control in the kitchen. A well done omelette is NOT a burnt omelette. The place is nicely located and is generally good. But after my experience I can't recommend it as it is evident that it has people working in the kitchen suffering from a severe lack of self-respect. Why would a chef knowing he/she is serving something completely lacking send it to a client? Is there no awareness in the kitchen that shortcomings of that magnitude can lead to abominable results for the establishment when discussed in social media? I've been here several times now. The customer care here is excellent. For example, I accidentally left over 150pesos worth of change here one time and the next time I came back they returned it. I didn't even realize I did that! Their coffee is decent - not far behind Cafe Tal, though they have no mochas which makes me sad. Their pastries are quite good, too. The setting is adorable, and for the working or studying, they have lots of outlets in the downstairs area and the fastest wifi in two tied with Cafe Tal (10megabits down, 1megabit up). read more

The smell alone is enough to make you happy here! The pastries, the coffees and egg dishes were amazing. If you are a party of 2 you can sit on the balcony and watch the people stroll past while sipping on a cappuccino. It doesn't get much better than this. read more

We were so happy to find this gem near our hotel! Loved the ambiance-- midcentury modern Parisian feel on two levels. The upstairs has 4 different rooms (each unique with original tile & hardwood floors & some with old floor to ceiling windows). The waitstaff are all super friendly & attentive. Most importantly, the food, drinks & pastries are excellent. The hot chocolate is rich & decadent & served with roasted marshmallows on top! The croissants are flaky & fantastic & the ratatouille quiche was very good. We loved sitting by the window upstairs people watching. It's a serene space & the smell of freshly made breads & pastries (baked by the French owner!) permeate the restaurant & will make you happy! And the cherry on top was that the owner came out and spoke with everyone about the food. It has a second level with balcony seating which is awesome. The pastries - I'm torn between putting these in the postive or negative category. They were tasty but lacked.... something. Can I say they were good for being in Guanajuato? But by French or even US standards I've had much better. Negatives: The staff - the French guy running the counter was pretty cold/borderline rude. Very impatient with us as we tried to decide from the selection (there was no one behind us). We asked him what he recommended and he gave us a flat "it's up to what you like" response. Just all in all unwelcoming. There were some other waiters who were helpful and nice, admittedly. So I knocked off 2 stars for mediocre pastries and below average staff friendliness. read more
