LA VIE Nails & Spa - Amazing massage and paraffin foot treatment ! Gel polish ! - Nail Salons Near Me - Selbyville, Delaware

This place is an upgraded chop shop. The services for me & my husband were booked as a Deluxe Pedicure & a Classic Muanicure with a gel polish for me. Typically this should take one hour for each individual service for a total of 2 hours. Total service time for both services at this "spa": 1 hour which includes a brief restroom break for me during my manicure because I had to stop in the middle since I was so frustrated. First off, the place is filthy and unsanitary. What I witnessed was hugely disturbing. * Pedicure chair foot rest was dirty & the small table where tools & lotions were placed throughout our service was filthy & not cleaned between clients. * Tech placed some sort of filter for the pedicure water tub while we were seated & then removed to place on the same table with the tools & lotions that were being on us. * Tools used for my pedi while in an autoclave sleeve were not unsealed in front of me & the sleeve was actually not sealed. I didn't see my husband's tools. I'm hesitant to say if they were actually sanitized for each client. * After the pedi, the cuticle clippers were slipped inside the autoclave sleeve after a brief wipe with some sort of solution & a cotton square. Cuticle pusher & nail clippers were not cleaned but also placed inside the sleeve which had never been sealed and processed. It was more used as a tote for the tools. * Drill was used on natural nail beds-both hands and feet-in an effort to first remove cuticle & across the entire nail bed! No buffer nor cuticle pusher was used and most importantly NO cuticle remover was used to soften the cuticle before removal.. Basically the approach is to remove dry skin via the drill! * The drill itself was filthy covered in nail dust from prior clients. * Both me & my husband experienced cuticle cuts on toes and hands by sloppy work. These were treated with an antiseptic in a dropper which thankfully didn't come in contact with us! No comment made by techs when this occurred. We came home to apply some Neosporin. * Nail files & buffers were not single use and had been used on other clients prior to us. * Some sort of cheese grater device used for callus removal on feet which wasn't sanitized. It was within a plastic tote which was sitting between me and a stranger at the pedi station. Used on my feet & returned to the tote without any sort of cleaning which also had a bunch of tools & other things Inside. My husband experienced the same mysterious grater type device removed from a different tote which also wasn't sanitized. * Towels used throughout servics were threadbare, stained and edges unraveling. Pedicure took less than 30 minutes & I'd estimate our feet were in the water no longer than 10 minutes via dipping in and out vs. a static soak which is impossible to soften cuticles and calluses. By the time we transitioned to the mani station I was ready to walk out. I had existing gel polish which needed to be removed and was lifting. I stated that at the beginning of the services in the pedi area. This was not soaked during the pedi. At the mani station, the first attempt to remove was grinding with the drill. When I objected, the nail tech chose to use his own bare fingernail to attempt to lift the remaining polish & then tried to grind off with the drill what was left. I pulled back several times when this was attempted since I haven't used a drill to ever remove gel polish & know this was damaging my nail beds.I then requested specifically to soak with acetone which typically takes 20 minutes. The tech did accommodate however the acetone was on maybe 5 minutes so it didn't come off as easy as a required 15-20 minute soak which should have been performed during my pedi. All buffing etc. was still performed with the drill. I requested to take a break to go to the restroom during my manicure & returned to request a change to just a file and buff of my natural nails because I was so hugely disappointed in the service & cleanliness. The tech was nice about it since he could tell I was visibly upset. The use of drills on natural nails is a clear indicator the techs are lazy & focused more on speed of service & most importantly this damages your client's nails! Services stated in the menu that weren't received for our pedis: no neck wrap, no warm eye mask, minimal time in the water, & massage was maybe 5 minutes. My manicure took maybe 15-20 minutes since I cut it short to walk out with just bare nails after all this nonsense. My husband & I get mani/pedis every two weeks for the last 20 years & have recently relocated from DC. Yes our bar is high for service; but I won't compromise on cleanliness & sanitation. The prices at this business are outrageous for the service & the cleanliness & sanitation need to be addressed immediately. If I could give this place a zero rating I would. We won't be returning & I'll let everyone know who asks that I don't trust their sanitation practices. read more

I walked in and was asked if I had an appointment. You know that I don't but fine. I explained I want the acrylic removed from my nails and I want my natural nail length saved. Y'all the lady didn't speak any English and got upset that she did the wrong thing. The guy explained to her what I wanted and look at the results!! Where are my nails? My first impression was is this classy. Beautiful crystal chandelier invites you into the opulent cavernous center of the salon. After everyone cheerfully greets you they offer you a complimentary beverage from the menu that includes a selection of wines, soft drinks and coffee tea etc. The pedicure chairs are very comfortable. You are then offered a heated neck wrap and a lavender scented heated eye mask. I choose the LaVie Special spa pedicure and the treatment I chose was Pearl. This had an ocean scent to it. Your feet are soaked in a warm bath of citrus fruit and rose petals. This was just so very relaxing. Your toes are trimmed up shaped and callouses removed. Several massages and scrubs and mask with the hot towels wrapped around your legs and feet. Devine feeling! After rinse and lotion messaged in, the essentials oil from the candle that has been burning during the pedicure is rubbed into the legs. Then the toes were checked and professionally painted! Best pedicure ever! Afterwards I decided to get a regular manicure which came out great. No rushing done here every service and attention was dedicated to you. I highly recommend this salon. You choose your nail color by a booklet of colored nails with over 200 choices. Complimentary beverages are offered. I got the La Vie Special Spa Pedicure ($100). Kan took care of my pedicure. My scent was Chamomile. The bath was filled with salts, oranges and rose petals. They offer you a warm neck wrap and warm eye mask. Hot stone massage. Scrub with the oranges and rose petals. 22 minute massage. Kan was amazing. He cleaned my nails really well. The massage was just the right pressure. This was extremely relaxing and I'll definitely be back! After living here for 2 years, it's nice to finally find a place that does a really good pedicure! read more

My daughter, daughter in law and I all went together to La Vie for the first time. Two of us got a pedicure, and one of us got a manicure. I got cut on my toe during the pedicure, and my daughter in law got cut by the nail file during her manicure. Both of us had antiseptic applied with not a word about either of us being cut. Additionally, my experience was that the bottle of antiseptic was opened, the tip of the bottle touched onto my open cut to apply the antiseptic, and then the lid was replaced and the bottle went back into the drawer. At no time was the bottle wiped off. I'm glad the antiseptic stung, because otherwise I'd be concerned about how many other people's blood was mixed in there along with mine. All three of us felt as though it was rushed and my daughter in law said the manicure was the most aggressive she had ever received. All three of us concur that we would not return. read more

this place is a train wreck. Was here for a refill on my nails and to fix a broken nail. The first time i arrived at 4 after making an appointment on the phone they looked crowded and told me " they couldn't find the appointment" but i could come back at 6. This was a 25 minute drive from my hotel. I went online of course they had available slots so i took one for 5:15 i come in at 5:15 and am told they do have my appointment and to sit. I sit next to a women that tells me she's here for her 5 o'clock appointment. we both proceeded to sit together and chit chat about the ignorance of this place until 6 o'clock where we were both pointed to chairs it is now 6:15 and i'm sitting in my chair with no service. Simply unacceptable, they take more people than they can handle and then don't give there customers any respect. lying about times and appointment availability. read more
