The service was okay, attentive and it's not the servers fault but man the cooks/chiefs are SLOWWWWW, wow talk about some serious waiting or our food. It's as if there's only one person in the kitchen doing everything. Now slow isn't just like 30 min wait but we're talking about hours here. The dish itself, Costillas de Puerco, was a little dry, decent flavor, not meaty enough tbh...overall nothing amazing for a two hour wait. I truly enjoyed the vibes here, there are so many convenient spots to take pictures for the gram! I walked in around 7 PM and inside of the restaurant was dark but enough light to see where you're stepping towards. Sitting at the bar, the bartenders serviced my friend and I right away, very sweet staff and accommodating. I ordered crab and shrimp quesadillas and they sure filled me up although it's only an appetizer ! The cheese was stringy which is always a plus, and a fine ratio of pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole placed in the middle. The drinks are good to pair with the food, although the Blue Hawaii was kind of sweet to my liking. They have a dance floor and DJ right in the middle of the restaurant so if you walk in at 10:00 PM on a Friday night, expect people coming to the middle from ALL angles. I've ordered delivery from here about 5 times. I must say they are always super fast, food is delicious and they never disappoint! Because having had great experience with delivery and know they have an outdoor patio. I have also gone to eat at this place in person during covid times. It gets very busy in the evenings later in the week so if you don't like crowds. This may not be e place for you. But most week days in the evenings it's quiet and you may find that there will be no one else sitting outside but you. I've ordered the super pollo enchiladas more times than I can count. They are just so good. My family enjoys the mixed nachos, chicken quesadillas and the appetizer of the chicharon with yuka. My only complaint is that service in person at the restaurant is not so great. Multiple times we have gone and waited forever to just get our drinks and water. This experience has been with multiple waitresses not the same one. I can understand delays when it's super busy. But I have gone at off peak times and no one has been around outside in the patio. I will chalk this up to covid and maybe limited staff? I can't say since I don't know what's going on inside. Last time I went with my friend who is pregnant, took them almost 20 minutes to get her glass of water. Our appetizers never came out and all entrees were served first. We had to remind them we ordered appetizers. Also, most of the waitresses do not understand English. So if you don't speak Spanish you will have a bit of a difficulty ordering here. I ordered a chicken enchiladas with double rice and tres leche along with a drink. Overall, the food was okay. It wasn't the best that I have had but it addressed the hunger. The restaurant was clean, quite a few people were dining and enjoying their food and company. I got take out for my son and I for dinner and the food was great. I ordered my son a chicken burrito and it came with seasoned yellow rice and pinto beans. I ordered the steak fajitas. I never eat the tortillas, but I love sour cream, so I ate that with the steak. They give you a nice portion, so I will have some for later. The manager was really pleasant and as I waited for my food, she asked did I want anything to drink? For all that is good in the world DO NOT GO HERE. They are super incompetent and they do not have good service. I'm terms of food, it always comes out cold and never made to order. Also when it comes to carding they do not communicate. The waitress would ask for ID for drinks and after the drinks are served security insists on getting aggressive to force you to see your ID yet again after the waitress already saw it. First 1 star review. Don't recommend coming here. Off the start our waitress, Jasel T showed an attitude with us. My group was just coming here for drinks and dancing so I think she was disappointed to see we only wanted to order chips and drinks and not entrees. It was very rude. Moreover, we asked for a round of SILVER Jose Cuervo shots and she brought us gold, which is okay. Except, she was convinced that's what we asked for. We didn't accept the shots and she went back took a picture of the GOLD tequila and said that's what we got (which proved our point). She then apologized and brought us silver. Granted with an attitude. We later asked for tap water and she brought us some. 30 minutes later when the table asked for water she brought us 4 bottles, which were $3 each. When we asked for tap she refused and said we couldn't have any, which I've never experienced before. Even Mcdonald's gives free water! When we got the check it was wrong and the waitress refused to fix the fact that we didn't get any GOLD tequila (note it is $4 more than silver each). Eventually, she was forced to fix it when we asked to speak to the manager. Also, there is an automatic 18% gratuity, which I felt discouraged the waitress to give quality service. Hate to do this to a new local joint, but I gave them 2 chances... This ain't tex mex. It's a salvadoreño pupuseria (poorly) masquerading as Tex Mex. First time there, had the chicken fajitas - my go-to at any Mexican place around DC. While the ingredients were fine, the recipe was WAY off from any fajita I've ever tasted. I'm pretty sure the chicken was seasoned only with soy sauce or teriyaki sauce, which did not go well with the ingredients. The rice was a bland rice pilaf with peas(!), not Mexican rice flavored with tomato like you'd expect. The beans, likewise, were boring, nothing like the medley you get at the nearby Guapo's in Rio. We also had a sampler platter appetizer. While generous portions and pretty good (the Pupusa especially was good) overall, the Chicarron was so salty it was totally inedible. The chips and salsa were mediocre. 2nd visit: I had the appetizer sampler again, plus a Tex Mex platter with an enchilada, tamale, and taco (plus rice + beans). The enchilada was great! The taco, was good but was literally just carne asada wrapped in a tortilla (easily fixed by adding things from around the table). The Tamale, though, was gross. No idea what flavor that was supposed to be - maybe lime...? - but the flavor was off, it did not taste fresh, and had a slimy, wet consistency. The overall verdict for this place is: not worth the price or visit. There's so many better mexican food trucks on the same road (towards germantown near bonchon there's 2), and Guapo's at Rio is 10x better and more authentic. This place could have been ok if they embraced their "pan-latin" identity, since they're serving lomo saltado (peru) and stuff from other countries, rather than attempting to pass off as a Tex Mex place when the recipes and flavors are so wrong. Pick one or two tex mex recipes and nail them, then focus on the recipes (i.e. pupusas) that you truly know best. Don't wanna see this place fail like the last concept that was here (the pizza place - which I actually liked!). Hope they see this and improve (tried to offer some feedback on the food/recipes to waitress but she wasn't interested). read more

First of all, to be in such a prime location, we were a little shocked that we were the only patrons to arrive in the middle of lunch hours. The meal was ok, reminiscent of the last microwave Mexican dinner that I had in my early twenties. First time here was at noon on a Sunday afternoon. For those of you familiar with the area, La Villa is located in the building that used to be the Flaming Pit. There were a lot of cars outside, but when my party entered the restaurant, we saw only one other table occupied. The décor is strange. It has been 30+ years since I visited the Flaming Pit, but I remember a much warmer atmosphere. It now has bare floors, strange color changing LED lights on the walls and the bar area is overly lit in harsh bright white lighting. It reminded me of a church basement auxiliary room or bingo hall. The hostess seated us right away and gave us menus. The server approached quickly and took our drink orders. We only had iced tea and water, so I can't comment on the quality of the alcoholic drink offerings. After bringing our drinks, the server asked us repeatedly if we wanted an appetizer. I told her chips and salsa would be fine. She gave me kind of a blank stare, which actually made me look at the other table to see if they had them, which they did, so I repeated, "No appetizers, just chips and salsa." A few minutes later, she brought us the items. The salsa was mediocre and the chips were very stale. There were no utensils or napkins on our table, so we asked for napkins and were given a stack of bar napkins...the little square kind that go under your drink. We placed our lunch order and our food arrived about 15 minutes later. Two of the three entrees arrived together and mine was brought out a few minutes later. We had to ask for utensils and the server went to another table to grab some. She then proceeded to explain that they had a large, private event the day before so nothing was where it should be. The two other people I was dining with had the chimichanga, one had beef, the other chicken. I had the shrimp tacos. There was very little information on the menu about how the tacos would be served, so I took a gamble on ordering them. I asked the server if my entrée came with rice and beans and she said she wasn't sure. I told her that is what it said on the menu. She said that if it didn't, I could order a side, to which I replied I wasn't going to pay for something that was supposed to be included. About five minutes later she brought out a side of black beans and rice. Beans are beans. The rice tasted like boil in bag rice and had no flavor. As for the tacos, they were served "baja style". The shredded cabbage was saturated in an overly sweet cream sauce. Honestly, it tasted like store bought coleslaw. The baby shrimp were grilled, but overly salty. It sounded like they had live music starting in the next room. I was glad we were finishing up because it got really, really loud. As for the good, I will say that the prices were reasonable. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I think it's my duty to warn the community about their unethical and unprofessional tactics. We came to the bar for Happy Hour, I had 3 beers at $3 a pop. I noticed the entire time, that every time someone would order a drink, the server did not enter it in the system! How can you keep track of who had how many?? You can't ! So, when I ask for my check, she tried charging me for 5 drinks, which at this point I had to explain that I only had 3. She became very confrontational, at this point I ask for the manager, and she was still adamant and very confrontational even in front of the manager . We settled for the 3 drinks, and we left. I did not tip the server after this show, which is out of my character, I'm in the hospitality industry and I always tip above average. I kept my credit card receipt and after receiving my statement I discovered 2 fraudulent charges made by them on my card. It was not a lot of money, but it's still considered fraud. I've asked for water and they bring out bottles just to charge an additional $3. It's happened too many times for it to just be a miscommunication. The servers are very rude and do not speak English. I asked for a Margarita and they brought out a huge concoction that I didn't want and charged me $25 for it. The manager seems nice enough but when I went he lingered at the table for like 30 min, unaware that I was trying to catch up with my friends.
