We planned a baby shower and they have a private room off the restaurant. They agreed to serve appetizers and drink. We got there to set up and the staff jumped in and did such a beautiful job and were so nice.The service was fantastic. They went above and beyond where you felt like part of there family. The service is the worst EVER. Called in an order for pick up and when we get there to pick it up they "claimed" they never received our order so they promised us 10 minutes to make our order. 10 minutes later they come back with the wrong order and "claimed" we never paid. At the end they found our receipt with our that we DID pay but still had to go back make us our right order. At that point we GAVE UP and asked for our money back. WORST service ever. First time here and they weren't busy, but it was early around 4:30. Only one other family dining. Since they weren't busy you'd think the appetizer would come out quicker, took 30 minutes. Our entrees came out 10 minutes after that. The food was hot and looked good. My husband liked his dish, but I was a bit disappointed with the crab and shrimp enchiladas. And I'm a big craft beer guy and to find out they have a 10 tap draft system with local beers on tap like Manor Hill, Jailbreak, and more! My favorite dish is La Picaduera! I've tried La Villa a couple of times since it opened a while back, each time hoping it would grow into a local gem. Unfortunately, the food has not improved. This is not Tex Mex food, it is an average rendition of El Salvadoreno food (which I like). It is very reasonably priced, and the staff is friendly and efficient, but that's all I can say that is nice. I've tried the enchiladas (B-), the Santa Fe burrito, (C+), and the tamales (F). The red chile sauce was pretty good, if very mild and lacking the smoky, earthy complexity of an authentic chile colorado. The meat in the SF burrito was described as new York strip steak, but it was not. It was gristle-filled, tough, and a much cheaper cut. The enchiladas were passable, if missing the traditional shredded lettuce and pico de Gallo. The tamales were beyond disgusting, having been cooked into a water logged goopy mess that was like eating chicken wrapped in snot. Totally inedible. Please get a better chef! read more

Price wise it's good and they got good happy hour deals. They need to work a little better training the employees. I've been in the restaurant business for a while and. Just felt they should know things like what the happy hour deals were, what comes with the food and just being more attentive. I'll give it another try but I think the server was probably just new. La Villa though everything from the lighting , atmosphere and service has always been on point . I visited your restaurant on July 24th and had the worst treatment I have ever experienced in my entire life at any given establishment. We ordered food and specified that we wanted no pork or pork products at our table. The treatment my family and I received turned into a very hostile, blatant racist and islamphobic experience when one of the security guards asked me " why did YOU guys come here if you know you don't eat pork". I have been to countless restaurants that serve pork products and that had never been an issue to just simply have it removed from the order . Had this been an allergy rather than a religious issue , I believe the response would have been of concern. The manager did even show concern for that mistake nor was she willing to cooperate to fix it. She sent security guards to our table to pay the bill as if everything was okay. We were humiliated, belittled, hurt, disrespected , disregarded and forced to do something against our religion. read more

Met a friend here for happy hour Friday. Nice, quiet place. The staff was friendly but preoccupied. The bar staff managed the taps competently but struggled to mix drinks for the restaurant guests. Ok first of all me and my fiance for the first time and as soon as we came in the we were swarmed by employees at the door then we were sat at the bar which by the way wasnt clean then it took us telling 5 servers what we wanted for our food to be put in for order then we get to our food which barely had any taste the cheese was dry melted likes its been on the food for hours and everything else was just heated up terrible. I've been here a few times now because I have friends that like to meet there, eat and have some drinks. The food is tasty, I really have to say that I have never been disappointed with the taste or quality of the food. I think the portions could be just a bit bigger, especially the rice and beans they bring, because, you know, that's the cheapest thing on the plate, why not be generous and fill your customers up on that? My chief complaint has been echoed by others - the service is always mediocre. It is as if the servers don't know or don't care, but they are not knowledgeable about the menu, they certainly are not attentive to their tables, and your always looking for utensils or more napkins. I usually order water with my meal, and it usually sits empty until I ask for more. The other day I ordered a coke, and when it emptied I had to ask for it to be refilled. When the bill came, I was charged for 2 cokes, and was then informed "they don't let us do free refills". I checked the menu and it doesn't even mention coffee, tea, or soda on it, let alone if there are free refills or not. This was really the last straw, you have to be at a michelin three-star restaurant these days to not get free refills on soda, it is just the industry standard, and for a little mexican restaurant to do this? Without something on the menu to back it up or warn a customer. I didn't ask to see the manager because my friends were there and I didn't want to cause a scene, but I was not happy. read more

I met some friends at La Villa. Easy to find, free parking and I love Tex Mex. However, La Villa is not Tex Mex. It is a "wanna be" Tex Mex restaurant. The tacos had no lettuce or tomato (although pico de gallo was on the side). Nor have I ever had tacos with potatoes inside (maybe cooked with the beef and not removed?) The beans were ok, but the rice was not Spanish Rice that is commonly served in Tex Mex places. It was more like a white rice pilaf. The chips and salsa were adequate but not memorable. The lunch prices are very reasonable, not so much for dinner. In all fairness, I did not try the papusas for which they have positive reviews. So, a good deal for lunch, but do not kid yourself that you will be getting Tex Mex. Only an imitation of such. I'll not be returning. read more

We went here on a whim after another restaurant we wanted to eat at was too crowded. Our waitress did not seem to know the menu or drinks well. The food came fast and was cold and had no flavor at all. The item I ordered came with a side of rice and beans which were not brought out with my entree. We LOVED this place! My mom and I went for dinner one night. They had live music which was very fun! The service was fantastic and the food was delicious! We had the Plato Grande (or whatever its called) for 2 people and loved it! We will certainly be back. If I could give zero I would but you can't. Service sucks at this place. I went in with my 18 month old baby to grab a bite to eat. The greeter was too busy on his phone and just told me to sit anywhere And went back to his phone. Didn't get it menu or ask me if I needed a high chair. so I took a seat thinking my server would be with me soon. However I waited for 15 minutes with my baby on my lap well multiple servers walked past me on their phone to go outside and smoke cigarettes. finally I gave up and laughed as I was leaving the greeter finally asked me if I needed anything. Was a little late of course I needed something a highchair in food that's why you come into a restaurant. Couldn't even get a glass of water or anything to drink. Worst customer service I have ever seen and I've never been in a restaurant where I've been completely ignored. This is the 4th time my wife and I have eaten at La Villa...the food has always been good. Today was the 1st time I looked closely at the check only to find that they had added an 18% percent gratuity for a party of 2...that they will do this is not documented on their menu. There was also something scratched out above the line to add a gratuity...we were told that this was because of an issue with the machine printing the restaurant name incorrectly. The service was mediocre so I planned to leave a 15% gratuity. We had the manager called over and we explained that they cannot do this and she told us that she had no control over it...after 5 minutes of debate we told them that we would pay what they wanted but never return. When the charge slip was returned, lo and behold, that 18% gratuity which management told us they could not remove was gone...and the line which was scratched out to cover up the misspelled name was not scratched out and revealed "Included gratuity". As I said, good food, but very sketchy management policies. I double tipped 3 times (1/2 of which I suspect did not make it to the server) and we will never return. read more
