The guacamole was nice and thick and flavorful. 7/10 The shrimp and tilapia tacos were a bit of a miss for me though-- the tortillas got super soggy (I should've ordered flour, not corn ‍!) , but the taste was fine. 6/10 I also wish the passion fruit juice had been fresh! Stopped by la brasita late on a monday. I liked how the decor was modern but also showed the culture of the restaurant. The staff were very nice and even showed us pictures of the dishes, which was really helpful when ordering. We got the carne asada the steak was juicy and soft like butter. We also tried the crab and revuelto pupusas. The crab was good and tasted fresh and the flavor of the revuelta made it stand out! I tried the carne asade tacos and a revueltas (pork) pupusa this time around and I loved them! The tortillas were handmade and soft, the carne asada was tender, and the green and red sauce gave the tacos a really good kick! The pupusa was excellent as well. So the chimichanga was tasty, a little too salty for me, and I also would've liked the chimichanga to be more crispier. The cheese and rice inside, really good. Food arrived pretty quickly, so service was nice. I haven't been to this restaurant but I've seen the outside of it in passing, it's a nice well kept building. We arrived just after 8 pm on a Friday night and were sat immediately. We waited about 15 mins until our food arrived after ordering and it was piping hot. Below are the items we ordered: -papusa- cheese and chicken and cheese and jalapeño. I enjoyed the jalapeño one more than the chicken but both were very tasty. -shrimp chimichanga- the shrimp were clearly sautéed and seasoned well. -ceviche- I felt the fish could have been cut a tad but slimmer, but the portion size was good and it was good quality -chicken burrito- stuffed pretty full and a great bang for your buck. I really enjoyed this place. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. They are definitely worth a try! read more

I went for happy hour and had the RumChata cocktail and it was excellent and for $6 you can't beat that. We got the chicken quesadilla, pupusas, and the oh and the ceviche! Oh yeah...this place is legit. Tuesday should not get all the credit for being a taco day (in fact, as I'm writing this, I've decided to go here for lunch today!). [omg...I just went to their web page for the first time and discovered that...THEY HAVE THEIR OWN MUSIC VIDEO!!! (which is also amazing!)] First...this place opened during the pandemic and thrived. If you need some kind of indication that the food must be amazing then that should be it. Second...the people working at the place could not be nicer and more accommodating. Third...the tacos at this place are phenomenal. I gotta say, though, that the shrimp (camaron) tacos will blow-your-mind! After seeing many positive reviews on Yelp, I told my husband we had to give them a try. The restaurant is located at the end of the Red Mills Shops. There is a McDonald's and Dollar Tree that is prominent in the shopping center. Outdoor seating is available. The restaurant is smaller than i was expecting it to be. Definitely a cozy and casual ambiance. As I usually do with any new restaurant we try, I perused the menu prior to coming. I initially thought about having the Carne Asada Plate, but was in the mood for quesadilla so went for the latter. My husband ordered the Masitas de Puerco, but substituted the plantains with fries. The picco de gallo was fresh. The carne asada was tender and flavorful and the tortilla was crispy. My husband said his puerco was more braised than fried, but enjoyed it nonetheless. He had asked for salt, pepper, and hot sauce. The staff member informed him that they wipe down the condiments after each request. Good to know they have been following CDC guidelines for sanitation and safety measures. Two employees were working the register and serving the food. Both were friendly and asked if we needed anything. The restaurant wasn't super busy at 6:00 on a Saturday evening so not sure if during peak times, the service is as stellar. For dessert, I ordered the Choco Tres Leches and my husband ordered the regular Tres Leches. Both were really moist just how you'd expect it to be. My husband raved it's better than his favorite bakery in Rockville. Of the two cakes, I enjoyed the regular more, but the Choco was still good and unique. We really enjoyed the food and my husband said he would come back just for the tres leches. Coming from him that speaks volume. We left feeling overstuffed like you do after Thanksgiving dinner. Finally got a chance to pickup carryout from La Brasita. It's been on my list for quite a few months! It's a quick drive from my place, so not sure why it took so long for me to order! I was going to do delivery through one of the delivery services, but couldn't figure out how to order tres leches online. So, opted to go pickup. But I'm glad I did cause I got to meet David. He runs the place with his mom and sister. I ordered by phone and got the cochinita tacos, a variety of pupusas, yucca, side of guac and tres leches. Love the flavor of the tacos. The pork was a little chewier, but it could have been from the drive home and taking everything out of the takeout containers and plating them. Still good, but think I'll reheat them really quick next time. Pupusas - I got the Maryland, revueltas, ayote and loroco. The Maryland is probably the most popular, but it was my least favorite. If you eat crab as much as I do, you'd know why. The loroco was really tasty though. I think that will be my go to next time I order pupusas. There's so much more on the menu to try! The guac was tasty! A huge serving for a side portion. I ended up saving more than half to eat another day. Still good the next day. For $2.50, it's a great deal. The tres leches - I love tres leches and order it whenever I see it on the menu. The tres leches at La Brasita is worth it! So moist. So creamy. So flavorful without being super sweet. Definitely a must! Folks say the chocolate tres leches is delish too. Will try that out the next time. read more

Stopped by La Brasita for dinner for a local school fundraiser. I've been wanting to check out this new restaurant since they opened, so glad I had a good reason to. As you could imagine, La Brasita was super busy that night. I'm definitely I ordered my dinner via phone early! When I got there, the phone was constantly ringing. The restaurant seemed to be handling the volume pretty well, though. My food took about 10 minutes longer than stated, which isn't bad. I had the carna asada burrito, which came stuffed with rice, refried beans, pico de gallo, cheese and sour cream. The burrito was a decent size. Definitely not big enough to share or have left overs. The carne asada was tender and had pretty good flavor to it. I do wish that the meat was evenly spread out throughout the burrito as I was essentially eat a rice/bean and cheese burrito towards the end. I also tried some of the revueltas pupusa which was stuffed with pork and cheese. Surprisingly pretty good! I liked how the griddle cake wasn't too thick and was stuffed with a good amount of pork and cheese. Of course I couldn't pass up the chocolate tres leches when I saw it on the menu! The cake was super moist, creamy, and not too sweet. So good! All washed down with some horchata (pretty standard), La Brasita definitely hit the spot that night. Besides pupusas and burritos, they serve appetizers (chips + guacamole, fish ceviche, yucca and chicharron), quesadillas, tacos, chimichangas, fajitas, carne asada fries (what?!), specialty dishes, and desserts. Service was friendly and efficient. Ample parking in the large lot just outside the restaurant, but you might have to park a little further down as La Brasita is right off the street/at the entrance to the shopping plaza. Our visit was just like many before, Great! Lomo Saltado is spectacular. My wife had the NY Steak and loved it. I got sopes for the first time and it was delicious. We also got jalapeno pupusas as usual to top it off. Delicious, Delicious, Delicious. We tried a real margarita here for the first time. Definitely going to come first happy hour now (margaritas and sopes!) We met the owner/lady behind the amazingness and she is wonderful. Food feels like home and she makes it that way! read more

When we like something, we have no problem getting dinner from the same place 2 days in a row. That is exactly what we did the last 2 nights. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Friendly staff and great food. Everything was so good that I don't think I have a favorite. We definitely ordered a few things to try: Chips and Guac: I love a good guacamole and this is definitely up there. Great flavors and the chips were fresh. Tacos: I have been craving for Tacos so these definitely hit the spot. I got veggies, shrimp, and Carne Asada. All full of flavors. I loved them all. Pollo Asado Burritos: my picky eater loved this. I took a bite and it was pretty tasty. Tres Leches: it comes in classic and chocolate. Love love love. White Sangria: not bad. Strong. I love spicy food but their hot sauce is way too spicy for me to use a lot. For our second visit, I asked for hot and mild so I cam mix the two. Mixing the two made the difference. There are definitely other items that I would still like to try. They also have specials which sounded good also. We will be back. read more

One star. Yes. ONE STAR! My staff went to pick up lunch today and the order was not right. The restaurant ended up calling back to the office to admit that they gave an incomplete order. When one of my staff returned to pick up the order, there was a little back and forth about how to properly account for orders. My staff advised them that we would not be returning there, and the response from the restaurant staff was "good." If that's the level of customer service that they are ok with offering, there are far too many places with good food AND good customer service. Know your worth, customers! read more

My husband loves tacos and is very picky about it. We came to this neighbourhood to visit a friend and were very hungry. So I decided to browse for my option, and la brasita caught my attention. I loved their chips and guac. It was delicious. Chips were perfect. The tacos where mouth watering! I love meat so my personal favourite was the steak and my husband loved the salmon. I've heard nothing but good things about this place (as the 4.5 stars has already told you), and very glad I stopped in! Since this was my first visit, I decided to try a lot of different things (or, more accurately, "ordered way too much"), you know, for science. First up, tacos. I got one carne asada and one cochinita, and both were looking great and ready for the 'gram, with delicious house-made tortillas, a little radish and cilantro and parsley. They held up well after a 15 minute drive and were still hot and fresh. The carne asada was well seasoned, but it needed some of the delicious salsa (and a few less onions) to really shine, particularly when compared with the cochinita, which is stellar. It's not your average pork - it's essentially a chicharron taco, or a burnt end-but-pork meat, crispy on the exterior but pillowy soft, juicy, unctuous interior. An absolutely stellar taco, and you need this in your life ASAP. Second, a selection of pupusas - revueltas (pork and cheese), frijol y queso, and loroco y queso (flower bud and cheese). All were very good, with an excellent corn base, griddled and built well. The bean option was my favorite because those beans were so smooth and flavorful and went perfectly with the cheese, but the loroco had a nice vegetal, almost zucchini-like flavor that went well with the curtido and sauce. Finally, the oft-raved-about-in-other-reviews guacamole. I can't pick the right avocados to save my life, so good guac always seems like magic to me. This was super fresh, lightly chunky with dime-sized pieces of incredibly fresh, rich and refreshing avocado in the mix, and despite being full a few bites in, I ate every bit I could scrape up with the huge bag o' chips that accompanied it. It's delicious, and even more so with a bit of the (excellent, drinkable-in-Big-Gulp-sizes) salsa verde incorporated in. All in all, quite an introduction, and I'll be back soon to order so many cochinita tacos that it strains my car's shocks. read more

Yelp lost me on this one. When I first paid La Brasita a visit, this place received almost perfect 5 stars on Yelp. However, my high expectations were never met. While the food was solid, it's def not 4-5 stars special for me. Nothing really stood out and I feel like there're many local places that can offer the same quality. Stopped in on a Friday night and was surprised there was no wait. We picked a seat outside and enjoyed a beautiful night outside. They do have seating inside, but we preferred to be outdoors. It's not an amazing view, but no matter. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We started with drinks and then ordered dinner. I loved my passion fruit margarita with fine salt on the rim. The carne asada was delicious, the beans and rice on the side were perfect. I had an oddly strong craving for chips and guacamole this past Saturday. It was like... what I assume is a "pregnancy level" craving. I could think of nothing but Chips and Guacamole. And having just taken a little hike around Seneca Creek State Park... I was not in the mood to make my own. Guacamole seems really simple to make... until you're like 20 minutes in squeezing lime juice into your wounds being like... "why didn't I just buy guacamole." Plus... whenever I make guac it turns out to be like a 30 dollar venture. Yes... I have guac for like 10 people... but second day guac is no first day guac. So I ordered a bunch of stuff from La Brasita: 1. Cheese and bean pupusa 2. Jalapeno and cheese pupusa 3. Pescado taco 4. Pollo taco 5. Carne Asada taco 6. Salmon taco 7. Cochinita Taco AND 8. Of course Chips & Guac The pupusas were pretty good. Not the best pupusas I've had... they'd lacked a bit of the char and rich cheesy flavor I've had in some pupusas of yore. But they were solid. The tacos were a bit of a mixed bag for me. The clear winner was the Carne Asada taco. It was clear that the meat was marinated, flavorful, and made for quite a delicious taco. The loser on tacos was likely the pescado taco. It was either a grilled, or sauteed fish. And I'm not saying by any means that it was spoiled. It just tasted like A TAD bit off to me. I think I just didn't like the flavor of the particular cut of fish or type of fish they used. Contrarily I thought the Salmon taco was quite delicious. And you can tell that the fish was also fresh. I wish the radishes were cut a bit thinner, and I also think there should have been some sort of sauce/ special salsa on top of the fish tacos. The pollo taco was a bit dry. Would not order it again. The cochinita taco was not exactly what I was expecting. It was... almost what I would describe as a "chicharrones taco." The pork seemed to be fried and fried somewhat hard. It was good... but I was expecting something that was bathed in a citrusy sauce like the cochinitas I've had before. Now... I've only had cochinita twice before... so I'm not sure what the traditional version of this is. So it wasn't bad... it just wasn't what I was expecting at all. The chips and guac. Yes, I saved the best for last. That chips and guac did EVERYTHING to crave my chips and guac craving. The chips were fried perfectly. They were the thick corn chips that I appreciate most. The guac was perfect. It was everything I wanted in a guac. It was the perfect balance of acidity to avocado. Nice chunks of onion and tomato. Seasoned well. I mean... I'd eat that guac eeryday. I was so pressed - I was like taking the chip and trying to scrap the residual guac out of the ridges of the plastic container that it was served in. I was so pressed, I ate the piece of lettuce garnish they put under the guac. I was so pressed... I went back to La Brasita and got 2 more orders of Chips and Guac... Stopped at this restaurant on an out of town visit and was very pleased. The interior is simple but modern and clean. We were promptly greeted. The ceviche appetizer of fish on a lettuce bed was very fresh and tasty, highly recommended. I had a Maryland (crab) papusa which was great, the accompanying cabbage and sauce also very fresh. Also had chicken and fish tacos. The both were very good though I have a preference for a little more seasoning on the chicken. The fish was grilled and very good. This one of my favorite local places. The staff here are always smiling and friendly. The cook actually comes out and talks to customers occasionally. Lots of choices of Latin food. My husband enjoys the way they butterfly and grill the trout. I prefer the Carne Asada. The picadillo here is great when it's on special. Two items are outstanding however: the guacamole and the Margaritas. It's the best Margarita I've ever had outside of Mexico. If you like Latin food, this place is worth a try. read more

Wassup my foodie fams! Another weekend, another place to eat. Did some random Yelping for skirt steak and found La Brasita. It's in a little shopping center right at the one of the corners. The first picture that caught my eye was the shiny skirt steak, or their carne asada. So here we go! I first ordered the chips and guacamole. Let me tell you, this was the freshest and most flavorful guacamole I've ever had to date. You have chunks of well diced avocado with its mixed self and a bit of diced onion and chopped cilantro (I love me some cilantro!). A refreshing must for starters. For the main course, I ordered the lenagua taco (beef tongue) and the carne asada (skirt steak). The taco was amazing. The tongue texture was tender yet melted in your mouth. The salse added a savory tomato-esque profile along with the peppers, vinegar onion, and cilantro. The steak itself was super delicious! The nice cut through its juicy morsel like butter. The seasoning was on point and did not need any additional condiments. I did add some hot sauce just because . The staff were very welcoming and friendly, masked up but I saw the eye smiles . I was dying to try this place and finally went with the family today. Plenty of parking.... they're located right on the end of the Redland shopping center. They had a few tables outside, but they were 2 seaters. So we sat inside. Its a smaller place, but tables were spaced our appropriately and there was hand sanitizer by the door and at the counter. They seemed to have more customers doing takeout, but i wanted to get the full experience. The staff there are super sweet. I cant remember the young ladies name, but she was very friendly and helpful. The young man was also great. He was very knowledgeable of the specials and both were so willing to answer our questions about the menu. I was overwhelmed by the menu, but I was really eyeing that carne chimichanga. But I also wanted to try the Maryland papusa....who knew that crab papusas actually excited!!? It was surprisingly delicious! We decided to order some other papusas to take home for lunch tomorrow. The kids ordered the carne asada, which came with pico de gallo and rice and beans. They really enjoyed it. We also tried the guacamole, which was amazing!! My husband ordered the steak fries special and a chicken taco. We didn't eat everything. It was a lot of food! But all of it tasted really good! Clean, spotless, looks brand new! La Brasita is a simple, casual, no frills restaurant with a cafe feel in Derwood off Muncaster Mill Road. If the Pupusa had more Jalapenos and an accompanying dipping sauce, this place would have scored a 5! The pan-fried Trout fish was delicious! We were tired of cooking at home and wanted to treat our kids (and ourselves), but doubted any food was available at a nearby spot we weren't utterly tired of. My wife did a quick Google search and voilà! There was highly-rated La Brasita! We ordered the following over the phone for pick up: Chicken burrito, Shrimp chimichanga, Shrimp burrito, and Beef chimichanga. Let me just say that each one of us believed we had the best food of the family!! The tortillas were incredibly soft and tasty, and obviously made on the premises. The service was super warm, friendly, and helpful. David introduced himself and explained that his mother, Lucy, was the chef working her magic in the back. He made sure we knew how to access their website for the most up-to-date menu information. Our food was ready 15 minutes after the order was placed, and we were hungry, so even better! This is the kind of place you want to make sure to patronize if you love delicious food and supporting local businesses at the same time! We will be back soon!!
