One of the restaurants that deserve more attention and recognition in the online community. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we visited, but the food and service were exceptionally amazing. The mini arepas they gave us for free were so good that we were looking at the menu to see if we can actually get more of them. All of our dishes were special and authentic, especially the fried snapper and the Patacon Maracucho. The fried snapper is very crispy and fresh, while the Patacon Maracucho was the perfect combination of plantains, meat, and avocado. Most dishes have avocado slices on them, and we were very satisfied with how fresh they are. The server was very attentive to my requests and was able to get me both protein types for the patacon Maracucho that I ordered (pork and chicken). She also made sure to separate my sauces and gave me extra vegetables One small suggestion for my dish is to lower the sodium levels of the meats, as they were a bit too salty. We started off with a picada and it was nothing crazy. The best thing on the platter was the steak and fried yuca. The blood sausage was definitely old from how dry it was. We got natural juices, both of lulu and guanabana and they were super watered down. They sit In their plastic containers all day and are definitely not made fresh. The cachapa was not good at all, the dough barely had corn and the meat had no flavor. My parents got ceviches that were super salty and they couldn't even finish. I didn't even take a photo of the empanada, because of how bad it was. I'm born and raised in Colombia and I have no idea how this place can say that they're Colombian. Food: We all agreed the food was not what we expected, steaks were overcooked, beans were too dry, rice seem undercooked and too hard. The MOJO sauce was definitely not the cuban way and it had little flavor. I will say the arepas and the fried appetizers was the best part of our meal but the appetizers came after our meal so at that point we were hungry and with a load of food in front of us.. Service: server was super nice, and staff was friendly. With that being said they seemed over worked, eventhough the place is not big. My husband had the Bandeja Paisa, he has Venezuelan roots- so he knows what authenticity tastes like! Our daughter ordered an arepa with chicken and gobbled it up. My in-laws also loved their authentic dishes. The mojitos are dangerous- nice light and refreshing taste, but not light on the liquor. ;) The Caracas at Night is great too, if you like cocktails/rum. I didn't like it, but he did and he normally hates anything sweet. We had a sprite and the kids had a fresh cantaloupe juice. In order to make it she had to whip out the vita mix ... I only mention this because anyone who blends knows once you clean it you're done for the day with it. I was under the impression it was already made and felt terrible that she had to do this.
