It folds up safely and stores with my caregiver, so people who can not get out of their wheelchairs can have the space. I'm trying to respect their disability. Passengers have shamed me, glared at me, and harassed me, all because they strapped my empty wheelchair when I've asked them not to. (They will even fight with me sometime and I either relent or get off cause I'm so mortified) It's so bad I have panic attacks every time it happens, now, and I never actually want to ride the buses I need to depend on to get around idk what to do tbh. I feel so embarrassed and ashamed of my disability as I deal with people regularly staring at me when I get out of my chair..... I've complained to them many times, and I hear it's policy. Yet you can fold and store walkers and strollers, but my EMPTY wheelchair has to be secured. It's honestly not different from a walker, IMO? I stopped sitting in my wheelchair on the bus because bus drivers were leaving other wheelchairs and strollers behind because of me. I can get up, I can walk short distances, and I do not need to sit in my chair on the bus so that other people can have that space. It all depends on what bus driver you have. Some of them respect my wishes; some of them flat-out don't, citing a policy I can't find on their website. EVEN THEN, they have a Reasonable Modification clause that allows them to modify policy if needed. I want them to see how this singles me out and makes me a target cause I have a disability different from the norm. I get enough from other people I don't need my transportation to make it worse, sometimes I'm flat out too scared to get on a bus because all this.... I just don't know what to do anymore, and I'm so fed up and discouraged. I can't tell you how many times I've complained and nothing happens, or I get conflicting stories. I'm just so tired; it shouldn't be this hard to have reliable transportation that respects my needs and those of other people with worse disabilities than mine, who need the space over me. We absolutely should not be strapping empty wheelchairs, and we absolutely should be strapping in strollers with children. Why is that not policy????

Driving used to be fun but not anymore…read more I took Driver's Ed in high school. Studied the WA DOL manual. Got up at 5am on the weekends and mastered parking maneuvers in empty parking lots. Practiced driving on I-5 and steering control on E Mercer Way. Passed the written and driving tests. It was a milestone celebration unlocking freedom and independence at 16 years old. Learned how to use the stick shift and feared the red light at 15th & Spokane St. on rainy days. Drove to Dick's on Capitol Hill with friends. Never had to share the road with electric bikes and scooters because they didn't exist. Never saw distracted drivers with smartphones because these devises weren't available to the public yet. We only had to worry about cars with California plates, the occasional BC plate, or someone who said, "DMV." ;p Driving in Seattle is different now. Traffic is worse. Nobody gives the "Thank you" wave anymore. I know someone who's been driving well over 10 years and they slapped a yellow New Driver sticker on their car and uses it as an excuse to drive like a crazy person. On I-5 I saw a guy texting at the wheel, saw a girl playing a game on her phone at the wheel. Cars without license plates, cars with expired tabs. People driving in the Bus Only lane, people driving with high beams. Motorcycle lane splitting. Witnessed illegal left turns from the far right lane and people driving down the yellow center lane. A lot of these habits and behaviors didn't happen when I first started driving. Seems like the WA DOL manual doesn't apply anymore. Unwritten driving rules taught and passed down by old school Seattleites are fizzling out. Those OGs have moved to Clark County near the WA/OR border, Eastern WA, out of state, and out of country. Gas is over $6+ a gallon and if theres an event near the stadiums parking can be between $70-$120. So if someone asks me why I take public transit, I have many reasons why. I take the light rail when my destination is near a station. I take it for peace of mind. I take it to save money. I've become mindful of my carbon footprint. The 2 Line trains from the Eastside are newer and cleaner than the workhorse 1 Line trains. There's the occasional smelly person, the sleeper, and the tweaker but I know have a choice to sit or stand away from them or get up and move. No fare gates or platform screen doors at the stations. Signage and announcements could be better too. As for the near future, I want to attend roll out celebrations for the Graham St. and Boeing Access Road infill stations. I'm also looking forward to the West Seattle and Tacoma expansions.

There are a lot of shortened operation times due to upgrades, maintenance and expansion. As large as the Seattle metro area is I'm surprised there wasn't public transit train installed and with good coverage of stops long ago. But it seems to be happening now. I think of Campbell Scott in the movie Singles and how his plan gets shot down for a broader commute expansion with trains for a plan he submitted. It almost feels like an inside joke and maybe it always was or has been for a long time living in the metro area. Recently we rode on the new expansion that goes to Federal Way. We rode the train up from the large transit center and garage there and it was nice and smooth. A bit long but so much less stress not having to drive. I have my Orca Card handy with me and it's easy on and easy off. Overall good experiences with this train system!

Why is it that Washington state has all this gravel and debris and it tends to have people driving over the debris hitting other cars damaging vehicles. I used Twin Transit while staying in a hotel for a little over a week. This service operates only…read moreduring daytime hours (up to somewhere between 6:00 and 7:00 PM) during the week with limited service on Saturday. There are four bus lines with transfer points for transferring between lines. I only used the Red Line, Bus Route 30. It routes through major points in Chehalis to include the Safeway Grocery then to the very cute old part of Chehalis, past the Fairgrounds, Wal-Mart, and all the way up to Amtrak. If you are staying in any of the hotels on Interstate Street in Chehalis, it's a brisk half mile walk to the closest bus stop, which is Route 30. The stop is at the Safeway, but it's in the back, behind, on 11th street, and it's near the garbage container so a little smelly. On the other hand, if you are staying at any of the RV parks, they are too far away from any bus stop. I found their schedules hard to read and somewhat confusing. For example, Bus Route 30 makes a complete loop. The Lewis County shopping mall is on Hampe Street, which can be accessed on both sides of this loop. The schedule does not make it clear whether the bus accesses the mall going north or going south on the loop. It doesn't even address WHEN it stops at this mall. From riding the loop, I discovered it DOES access the mall from both sides of the loop. Well, it would have been nice to know that on the schedule....... Another issue was that since it was a "loop," well, when the bus finishes the "loop" at the last "time point," does it start over again, or do they put another bus at "time point #1" at the beginning of the loop and you have to transfer to another bus if you happen to be on it going that direction? Found out it does keep going on the next scheduled loop, but it would have been nice to have that clarified on the schedule. I think there are so many situations like this that it would make their schedule too complicated and they are just trying to keep it easy and keep the schedule to one page. Another rider on the bus kind of joked, "This is usual for Centralia/Chehalis, they give you limited information and you have to fill in the blanks....." The busses are about the size you would expect but I was surprised at the small number of seats in the bus. They space the seats farther apart than the seats on busses in larger cities. Even a tall person can ride comfortably. In large cities, even though I'm short, I feel crunched in the seats, but on the Twin Transit bus, I had a lot of leg room.

I love some of the cool shirts some drivers wear( those Hawaiian looking ones). When I first rode a Pierce transit bus, drivers were wearing vests and burgundy colors. Now they wear a nice blue color uniform! I have seen drivers come and go. When I first rode Pierce Transit drivers were very friendly and you get to know them well. Now fast forward in 2025, things are just so different. I do not know if the pandemic and crime has affected how our drivers interact with passengers. I am not sure. Today October 6 at around 8 this morning, my elderly husband took a trip and needed assistance with his destination. I understand drivers have a bit of duties other than driving. But passengers are paying customers and they should be very attentive to them especially the disabled and elderly ones. I have a problem with this. This morning was just too much for me. It only takes a second to direct a passenger to where they need to go. My husband called me and I can hear my husband ask for an assistance to his driver several times and he was not getting any response. I hung up and called the customer relations and I just felt let down. The man who called to respond to my complaint about my husband's experience was very curt and condescending. Frankly he could care less. You know I am hurt to give them so low stars but lately it has lost its shiny splendor of service. Do not get me wrong , there are still awesome drivers that make Pierce Transit shine. I acknowledge this and hope this review will encourage Pierce Transit to focus on all passengers from young , elderly , disabled and other. It is great that they offer free services to our youth and I adore even the mascot Boop! Yes I think that they can do this ! Apply it more in their training! It is a great company and I am confident that with hard work that Pierce Transit can be the way to go! I would love to give more stars but I am very disappointed at this time. I think crimes and possibly pure work burnout can be a factor . But it is never an excuse to ignore or mistreat elderly or disabled passengers. They are paying passengers too. I love Pierce Transit and I have to tell it like it is because they can do better!

I am writing this review because he had no idea of the type of week I had just survived nor my health condition but he powered up the heat as soon as I arrived and gave me a smooth and safe ride to my destination. It literally made my day. I'm extremely grateful for his generosity. I thanked him repeatedly and his response was "Pierce Transit cares for thier customers." I did not know that courtesy rides like this existed and I'll never forget the kindness that he showed me when I had no other options.
