My family and I have been using Pierce Transit for many years. We do appreciate the times that they dedicate in service. I love some of the cool shirts some drivers wear( those Hawaiian looking ones). When I first rode a Pierce transit bus, drivers were wearing vests and burgundy colors. Now they wear a nice blue color uniform! I have seen drivers come and go. When I first rode Pierce Transit drivers were very friendly and you get to know them well. Now fast forward in 2025, things are just so different. I do not know if the pandemic and crime has affected how our drivers interact with passengers. I am not sure. Today October 6 at around 8 this morning, my elderly husband took a trip and needed assistance with his destination. I understand drivers have a bit of duties other than driving. But passengers are paying customers and they should be very attentive to them especially the disabled and elderly ones. I have a problem with this. This morning was just too much for me. It only takes a second to direct a passenger to where they need to go. My husband called me and I can hear my husband ask for an assistance to his driver several times and he was not getting any response. I hung up and called the customer relations and I just felt let down. The man who called to respond to my complaint about my husband's experience was very curt and condescending. Frankly he could care less. You know I am hurt to give them so low stars but lately it has lost its shiny splendor of service. Do not get me wrong , there are still awesome drivers that make Pierce Transit shine. I acknowledge this and hope this review will encourage Pierce Transit to focus on all passengers from young , elderly , disabled and other. It is great that they offer free services to our youth and I adore even the mascot Boop! Yes I think that they can do this ! Apply it more in their training! It is a great company and I am confident that with hard work that Pierce Transit can be the way to go! I would love to give more stars but I am very disappointed at this time. I think crimes and possibly pure work burnout can be a factor . But it is never an excuse to ignore or mistreat elderly or disabled passengers. They are paying passengers too. I couldnt be more thankful to the driver on bus 100. around 3:25-3:30 pm he saw me sprint after a bus for 3-4 blocks in down town Tacoma at 2 different stops just nearly missing it both times. instead of just going on with his day he pulled to the side of the road and asked me if I wanted a ride to the t-dome to try and catch the bus. He let me on and as my hope faded he said it was still there. I ended up catching the bus because that man choose to pick me up on a day were things didn't go my way. I just got out of the hospital last week. I was so cold and the snow this morning caught me completely off guard. I was on the way to catch bus route 54 to take me to work. I arrived at the crosswalk and was in the middle of the road merely steps away from the bus when the driver started to pull off. "Wait! PLEASE wait!" I called out but the driver continued to drive away. It was the kindness of Pierce Transit Supervisor Kristian that made my entire day. He offered to give me a ride to the transit station where I was heading to avoid me being stranded in the cold. I am writing this review because he had no idea of the type of week I had just survived nor my health condition but he powered up the heat as soon as I arrived and gave me a smooth and safe ride to my destination. It literally made my day. I'm extremely grateful for his generosity. I thanked him repeatedly and his response was "Pierce Transit cares for thier customers." I did not know that courtesy rides like this existed and I'll never forget the kindness that he showed me when I had no other options. read more

ZERO STARS my daughter uses the shuttle to and from her adult day facility. She is cognitively and physically disabled Not only has she been on a route multiple times that took more than 2 hours one way, last night the driver allowed her to go in a personal residence of someone we do not know to use the restroom. This is against all rules and was absolutely putting my daughter in grave danger. Not only should it have never happened, she was let in the home unsupervised. God knows who could have been in that home and could have emotionally, sexually and or physically hurt my daughter. I will be following up with an attorney, likely, if I do not hear back. read more

I was pulling out of the parking lot at the Steilacoom Community Center yesterday morning when a Pierce Transit vehicle - License # 11008 - pulled into the lot and behind me. Either she didn't notice me pulling out - scary - or she decided might equals right and she had the bigger vehicle. Also scary. She then pulled in front of me blocking me. I was in a hurry to get to a class and I went up and told her she had blocked me. She said I would "just have to wait." She could have 1. not violated the right of way by letting me finish backing out, 2. pulled on the right side of the split road where most of the delivery people park anyway and which would have made her delivery easier, or 3. pulled forward a foot or two. There was plenty of room for her to do so. Instead she chose to be reckless, uncaring and rude. read more

I'm putting this review for the Pierce Transit Station at Tacoma Community College (TCC) location. I left my folder on the bus and reported it to the Customer Service Representative that was there on site. He went in a car to meet the bus (driver) & retrieved my folder, then brought it back to me at this station while I waited for him. He went "Above & Beyond" his call of duty. He acted in a kind & understanding manner. I personally appreciate his service & thank him for helping me with this issue. Pierce transit drivers in the north end have a habit of not stopping for people at bus stops. They'll stop, look at you, and keep going. It wasn't just a one time thing either. Not sure what the problem is. So we just bought another car off of a friend. Guess we're not all gonna be licensed drivers until we get that sorted but we gotta get to work somehow. If I could give this agency negative stars I would. Between obvious biased drivers and them so concerned with getting home that they pass up stops 10 minutes ahead of schedule they just royally suck. I tried to walk myself down to the bus this afternoon after getting off of school at 2 o'clock and I get to the bus stop at 2:17, planning to get on the 100 and the lady, (a minute early) starts the damn bus and proceeds to leave as I'm waving at her, trying to get her attention. Please have some decency to realize id like to get home and I don't have any faster of a way to get down to the bus stop than walk. And seriously, stop leaving a minute early. I've lived in Pierce County nearly my entire life. I remember a time when PT actually provided decent service. It's busiest routes had no longer than 15 minute wait periods during peak hours, and a lot of buses ran pretty late. Then the recession and their station fire happened. Fast forward 12 years later, and their services have brutality deteriorated. Every bus line except for Route 1 has increased wait times, shortened their schedules and a lot of them are late fairly often. From time to time, the buses will break down and riders will have to wait for another bus to pick them up. The drivers are rude & often lackadaisical, as riders have to now wait until the driver is on the bus before boarding, and some drivers will take their sweet time getting back on their routes. There are some routes with little to no service on the weekends, and the ones that have service are reduced to barbones hourly rotations that end before the evening. All of this is bad enough, but it's worsened by the incremental fare increases and elimination of fare tickets. It's now over $2 for the full adult fare and a whole $5 for an All-Day Pass if you don't have an ORCA card. So now, it's more expensive to ride the bus, but the level of service has gotten much worse. It's unacceptable. As I speak right now, I'm having probably the worst experience with PT I've had in a while. I live in Lakewood & needed to be in the Hilltop area, so I waited for Route 3 headed to Downtown Tacoma. The Transit app had said the bus would arrive within a few minutes, but it never did, after which the app updated to say it's 45 minutes away. So, I waited for the next arrival. When it finally arrived downtown, it was 1:10pm. The closest & soonest bus that got near where I needed to be - 12th & Yakima - was the 57, which was slated to take off around 1:20pm, according to both the Transit app & the newly installed real time update screens at the stops. The bus was even parked at the 57's usual boarding zone. As of 1:30pm, that driver still hadn't boarded the bus. So, since the place I needed to be at closed at 1:30pm, I decided to go back home & boarded the 3 to Lakewood. And instead of making its usual right turn to head south on South Tacoma Way, the driver forgot the route he was on & instead drove up the hill on the detour route of the 45 & 48! After pulling to, I assume, contact HQ and let them know about his accidental detour, he circled the block around 38th St to come back down the hill and head back to the correct route. As of right now, the bus is going to drop me off at my stop about 25 minutes later than scheduled. This is embarrassing. Garbage & overpriced service. Rude, lazy & incompetent drivers. And we're probably going to end up with a levy on the ballot in a year or so where PT asks for more money to make up for losses occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic, while still not improving the service. King County Metro & Sound Transit might be more expensive, but they provide superior service. Pierce Transit, on the other hand, is going to be having a rough time if they think this level of service is going to fly in the future, with the county growing at such a steep pace. As of right now, though... if you need to be somewhere & you don't have a car, don't use PT. Catch an a Uber instead. read more

I can't tell you how many times I've been late to class or work because the bus drivers won't just wait a bit to be on the CORRECT SCHEDULE THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO FOLLOW. Large tour busses are the way to go when commuting. Always warm and full if commuters just Like me. We are quiet, professional and polite. The drivers usually turn the lights down in the morning to allow for napping, the heat us usually on and most if us sit back and let Pierce Transit take care of the rest. The newer low busses are not as noisy however the lights are always on and it is considerably colder. Still the same Seattle commuters however these ones are not as friendly to offer up the empty seat next to them...why? read more

Can I give a zero review? Is this even possible? Apparently not. It would be really nice if the pierce transit website was genius enough to calculate the closest bus stop or transit station to the location you type in on the trip planner. I used to have certain routes memorized but it seems most of those have been eliminated. Each time I put in a location on this website it tells me it's impossible to get anywhere. Thanks Pierce transit! This just reminded me of the time I was lost in dear-lord-don't-let-my-car-break-down, Louisiana and the old man who had never travelled beyond a 5 mile radius his entire life told me, "oh, well, pretty thang... I've been riding this bus service forever never once had I came across the problem with a bus driver until my Sunday morning commute when a bus driver would purposely pass me up at a stop and stop halfway down the road and when I talked to him about it one day he was like I can't pull up to that marker at this bus stop because it leaves the bus sticking out what he didn't know is I had walked up one bust up then I normally caught to see if he would do it there and he did this is the route one guys 8 in the morning on a Sunday read more

The buses are always warm and people are generally polite. Occasionally the bus drivers can be crabby, but they have a schedule to keep and who knows what they've been dealing with all day? They are usually within ten minutes of their estimated arrival time on Google maps, however, they're signs near bus stops need to be updated. I have seen many bus drivers who have let on a passenger who's forgotten their wallet, and been very friendly. Along with being friendly, they've helped me figure out what routes to take when I was hopelessly lost, and even reminded me of when to get off the bus. read more

Buses are always late, dirty, and dilapidated. And the drivers are so unwelcoming and rude you'll never feel like stepping foot in Tacoma again! Seriously though I think that they're trained to try dissuade usage of their services. Plus the way north and south Tacoma is cut in half, so that you'll find that you'll walk for an hour, past bus stops, with buses passing you because the routes connect up in apparently intentionally self-defeating way. 1/10 next time I'll ride on the roof. read more

Driving down 167 freeway this morning and your driver in vehicle 7405 starts flashing their high beams at me to move out of their way or something in the carpool lane. There was another car in front off me so they weren't going to get very far. Finally your driver goes around me then pulls back in front of me cutting me off without using a blinker and constantly brake checking me. They stay just in front of me until the end of the freeway. This person sets a bad example for your business and should go to defensive driving school! read more

I've lived in Tacoma for 58 years, i used to ride the bus quite frequently but haven't done so for a number of years, having recently taken the bus i was truly shocked and dismayed at the one hour waiting time between bus arrivals and departures at a scheduled time point not to mention it being ten minutes late. I travel to Seattle on the sound transit express quite frequently and take the Seattle city bus's to my destinations, they are efficient, timely and willing to stop and pick you up if you are more than a few feet from the bus stop, these are none of the things that pierce transit are willing to do. Pierce transit drivers are rude, unwilling to help and condescending, the city of tacoma would be far better served by learning from the city of Seattle on how to run an efficient, courteous bus service. I would rather walk to my next destination than take another pierce transit bus. read more
