My daughter has been attending since she was 18 months old, and she's now 3 years old. I truly appreciate the owner and the care she provides. My daughter has learned so much--she's speaking clearly, recognizing numbers, shapes, and more. The owner is incredibly sweet and attentive, treating every child as if they were her own. Having my daughter here gives me peace of mind while I'm at work, knowing she's in a safe and nurturing environment. My son has been going to Ladera Heights Prep School since May 2019. I've been in a very nasty custody battle that requires me to continuously have to re-adjust my son's schedule as well as he has some unforeseen special needs that require more attention and care. What I appreciate about the Ladera Heights Prep staff (especially Ms. Swarna) is after I disclosed what my son's needs were and my expectations for the school she was honest with me about what she and her staff could do to support me and my son. She took the time to talk with me and together (after lots of trial and error) we were able to figure out a schedule that allows my son to participate, learn and have fun. Ms. Swarna was able to help me trouble shoot to find outside support for my son which in turn has made for a better experience for him at school. My son is thriving at Ladera Heights Prep. He is now 5 years old he is able to self regulate himself so he is able to participate in class he's reading, doing double and triple digit math and he's showing empathy and using his manner and his imagination is just soaring! I recommend Ladera Heights Prep School without any reservations. This school has been a blessing to me and my household! Plus the school is walking distance from our home... added bonus! read more

We have been at LHP with Ms. Swarna since April of 2021 and my daughter has flourished during her time there. Ms. Swarna has a loving and nurturing and honest spirit that I am very grateful for since she has my precious child half of the day. Finding people you trust and that your child trusts, where you feel confident in their ability to teach and guide your child; to be not only emotionally intelligent, but a well rounded person who appreciates learning is a rare and beautiful find. **Be Advised- Do NOT Send Your Children Here*** I'm sorry we stayed as long as we did- The owner/Director, Ms. Swarna, might have been fantastic years ago, but in the year we attended, there were multiple incidents that raised concern, including that of friends and family. Swarna doesn't have a nurturing demeanor toward the children. In addition, we have observed her behavior to be frightening to children and not supportive of their developmental or emotional needs. In addition, we were concerned by the numerous staff changes over the year (5-6 new staff members in a year) and Swarna's lack of accountability to any type of management oversight She focuses on academics and it is true the children learn a lot, but at what costs- they are afraid to step a foe out of line. she is overly strict and inappropriately aggressive toward the children. *On more than one occasion, our daughter came home stating "Swarna hit" * Swarna referred to our daughter as a bully. When our daughter said this to me, I assumed she was mistaken although that isn't language we use at home. I asked Swarna about it; she responded that my daughter did have a hard time listening on said day and was exhibiting bully behavior. Her lack of accountability confirmed that Swarna did call her a bully. She was only 2 years old at the time; no teacher or adult figure should directly call a child bully. Teaching about sharing, conflict resolution, etc., is more appropriate than name calling. * We hosted our daughters 3rd birthday party at the school. We were at the school from approximately 11:45-1pm. This was also a new student's first day attending LHP. (It was that student's first day EVER in a preschool environment). We witnessed Swarna using excessive force with the child: taking him from room to room with her, tugging and snatching him by the wrists and upper arm (under the armpit). Additionally, I saw her pull him into the bathroom and I heard her YELL at him about misbehaving. (As far as we could see/hear, his behavior was typical first day fear regarding a new place) The May 22nd, 2019 incident expedited our search for a new preschool. Then July 3rd brought everything to a boiling point * On July 3rd I was running late to pickup our child. We have a family friend who lives walking distance from LHP. I called that friend to pick up so that Swarna wouldn't be kept too late; I was still 8-10 min away. Around 6:10pm I called Swarna BACK (I had already spoken to her & informed her I was running late, but on my way). I called Swarna back to give my friend's first & last name b/c she wasn't on the pickup list. Swarna stated she didn't have time for my call and hung up. Shocked, I arrived at LHP prepared to discuss Swarna hanging up on a parent while their child is still in her care. She stated she had a flight to catch and didn't have time to talk about it & that we could discuss it on Monday. At that point, I advised her we would not be returning given previous experiences. She proceeded to take all of my child's belongings out of the cubby and PUSH them on me. When I refused to take the items out of her hands as she attempted to physically PUSH me out, she threw My daughter's belongings out of the front door onto the ground outside. Finding trustworthy childcare can be so hard, and this isn't anywhere I'd ever recommend. Children this young deserve a nurturing soft touch, that is not something Swarna is provides. read more

I have a two year old nephew and I stay very close to this school so I wanted to give it a try...but before enrolling I went to the school and talk to the owner I told her my nephew has health issues and he had a gtube I even showed the gtube to her i explained his health issues to her and she said it wasn't a problem and she had a student with his issues before...before I actually decided to put him in the school I read the reviews on yelp..it's a parent on here that explain how this woman is I ask her about it and she told me not to judge her off someone else so I decided to let my nephew go to the school..well my nephew did one day and when I arrived to pick him up she told me my nephew had pooped on his self 3 times but mind you she is aware he has bowel issues and is in diapers he is only 2 she told me that my nephew couldn't come back to her school because he poop smell so bad...all this lady care about is the money because when i took him the first this she started telling me is she called connection for kids for more money because the baby has special needs and that her child care is $1800 a month and they not paying her enough...I feel that once she seen she had to actually do work she didn't want to do the work...I don't recommend no one to take there child to this school because she is very unprofessional and I'm not gone stop until some thing get done about it...I feel like if you don't love these kids as if their you own this is not the right type of business read more

I don't have enough word to say how good are they. My three kids went Ladera prep all of them A student until now . My oldest son now 13 years old now he is 8th grad so far 2 B and all A the second one is 8 years 3rd grad and all A and the 3rd one is all A because of this pre school . My daughter started attending Ladera Prep at age 2. Because my wife and I speak both spanish and english at home my daughters vocabulary was limited compared to other 2 year olds. After a few weeks the change in how she expressed herself verbally was nothing short of amazing, thanks to Ms Swarna and her staff. 1.5 years later my daughter can recite the alphabet, count and even read words in both Spanish and English. I love the diversity of her classmates, the focus on language and math, as well all the interactive activities from art to dance classes. My only complaint is that my daughter wakes up on Saturdays and asks if she gets to go to school today. The love for teaching and learning is alive and well at Ladera Heights!! Spend a few minutes with Ms Swarma and you will understand why kids want to come back even on a Saturday ;-) read more
