Our daughter has gone to WCC for 3 years now and we will be sending younger sister when she is old enough! We can't say better things about the school. As parents of a "big feeler" we have felt so supported and encouraged by her growth at WCC. She LOVES her teachers, she talks about them constantly at home and even on vacation . She LOVES her friends and actually looks forward to school. We were drawn to WCC for its strong sense of community and diversity. Her Spanish language skills are outstanding and her social/emotional development have been so incredible to witness. WCC has helped mold our little firecracker in all of the best ways. This is a great school! There is constant communication between the school staff and parents and the school consistently provides opportunities for parents to be involved. The kids have days filled with creative and exciting activities without any screen time (I've seen other preschools and daycare's with TVs in the classroom:( ). They also do much more thoughtful activities than just coloring and painting which I experienced at previous schools. I'm very appreciative of the diversity in the school. I toured many different schools throughout my son's time in preschool and this has been one of the most diverse that I've seen. My son's teacher is Ms Ingrid and she is very kind and thoughtful. It's been really sweet watching my son learning and taking interest in Spanish even though we do not speak Spanish at home. Also the owner, Ms Brittie is very involved and very quick to respond to parents. Overall, I feel that there is a lot of thought and intentionality put into the way that the school was designed and runs. research based and geared towards celebrating each child's individuality while still helping them develop, socially and academically. :) read more

My 2.5 year old has been at World City Center for over a year now, and we are so happy we decided on this school. The teachers and staff are warm, genuine, and kind, and they take great care of the kids. My son runs in each morning and barely looks back at me to say bye. I don't need to worry about him all day because I know he's in a safe and loving environment. They speak Spanish the majority of the time, so it's been fun to listen to him start saying a few words in Spanish here and there. read more

Our son started here when he was two at the home day care and he loves it. All of the teachers that he has had have been wonderful, and he talks about them all the time. He always comes home with various art projects, and the weekly curriculum is themed so they are continually learning about and exploring new topics, animals, geography, cultural celebrations, careers, outer space etc. I really like the physical environment here, it feels like the sort of place where I would've wanted to go to school. Not institutional in the least, it's warm and inviting. And they play outside and in the garden a lot which is important to me. His vocabulary in Spanish is pretty impressive now too! I'm glad that we could give him the gift of early second language exposure in such a nice environment. read more

My son has been attending WCC for the past two years and we are so happy we made the choice to come here! He started at the home daycare and moved to the main building. He has been able to create a special bond with each teacher he's had and he constantly raves about them! I love that they do fun themed activities each week and I love the Spanish immersion. My relationship with the team at WCC has been amazing as well. Everyone is kind, accommodating and communicative. The school has organized some fun activities like beach days, ice cream at the park and a holiday performance. I'm happy to be part of this community and highly recommend it. read more

We are so happy to have found World City Center. We've had our son in the Dali class since the beginning of the year, and he has thrived. His vocabulary in English and Spanish has grown by leaps and bounds, his social skills have improved, he's able to name emotions he's experiencing and great at individual and cooperative play. He gets so much out of the play-based education -- he's learning academic basics while having fun. His teachers are engaging and are constantly coming up with creative activities for the kids to do -- he always comes home happy and excited to tell us about what he learned. What we love the most about the school is how empathetic and supportive the teachers are -- my son talks about them all the time when he's not at school and is always excited to see them again after the weekend. World city center is an incredibly special place. Every single person on staff is delightful, caring, and truly loves the children they work with. I'm consistently impressed with the quality of lesson planning, organization, communication, and creativity that Mr Sebastien demonstrates and I know we've made the best decision for our child's development by send him to WCC. We drive all the way from the westside to come here because it is THAT SPECIAL. If you can snag a spot in one of the classrooms, it will be absolutely worth it. If I could give WCC more stars I would! Both the preschool and its sister daycare, Tiny Sprouts, are incredible. My son started at the daycare when he was 2 and then moved onto the preschool a year later. Brittie, the teachers and support staff are amazing and my son has thrived under their care. He had a hard transition from being home to going to school and they were so patient with him, and gave me and my husband such great feedback on how to help him. Also, I should mention that the facilities at both the daycare and the school are amazing! They've got outdoor sensory activities like a mud kitchen, water play and an edible garden that are awesome, and the inside of the school is done in earthy tones that are nurturing and relaxing for little ones. The school has great curriculum and its population is diverse, which has been so important for us. We've loved everything about our experience at WCC and Tiny Sprouts and our son has made lasting friendships there. We are sad to be moving on, but are excited for more families to send their kids to watch them grow and thrive! read more

World City Center has definitely held a very special place in my family's heart. I vividly remember the day of my WCC tour... it was spring, 2019 and I had butterflies because I wanted so badly for my son to have a fulfilling preschool experience with teachers and staff that would treat him the way that we (his family) would; that he'd be exposed to different cultures and people; that he would learn and grow and thrive; that he'd come home each day excited for the next. As I walked up the lovely lawn towards that bright blue door, I was immediately greeted with warmth and welcome from Brittie's smiling face. Coupled with the warm, energetic feel of the school space, I was experiencing good feelings already :) Brittie led me in and proceeded with the tour, which proved to be everything I'd hoped for when it came to curriculum, community and more. Fast forward to the 2019-20 school year - my son was accepted to WCC and was able to experience new friendships of all races, appreciation for the outdoors due to the community garden and natural light throughout the school, a love for Spanish, piano (thanks to WCC's private instructor), annnnnd a better sense and love for his African-American heritage. Brittie and her staff worked so hard throughout the school year to not only provide a rich educational curriculum but to also think outside the box when it came to extracurricular activities, holidays and more. For instance, for Black History Month, WCC focused on African American history as well as African history - highlighting the fact that our ancestors came from kings and queens, not just slavery. The main wall of the school was decorated with beautiful images of Black Americans and Africans. Brittie even held a Black History Month parade where she brought her own precious authentic cloths (from Africa!) to drape over the children as they wore their crowns they'd made as a class assignment. My son graduated in spring of 2020, and he still talks about his experience at WCC. Even today he looks at his yearbook every evening before bed and thinks about the wonderful memories that were had at this beloved school. WCC was the school of my dreams, but even more importantly, my son's. I regularly wish they had an elementary school so that we could have stayed there. Brittie is an excellent Director who cares for all of her students and staff like family. We are immensely honored and grateful for our experience at WCC. read more

This review is long overdue and I wish that I could respond directly to the James B. reviewer -- he seems to have a serious issue with representing the truth. We are a Black family and WCC was my wildest dreams come true for our son's first school home. A newcomer to LA, I toured about 20 or so preschools! That might seem like overkill to some but given the serious and pervasive nature of implicit bias I was searching for a place that I felt my son would truly be safe socially and emotionally and where he could grow in a joyful, kid-centered environment. I was beginning to feel like that was impossible to find until we discovered WCC. I literally shed tears of relief on the tour. The space itself is warm, inviting and well taken care of. It's in a converted house adjacent to a church (no affiliation) in the heart of historic West Adams. It's a lot bigger than it seems from outside and really gorgeous inside. There are two outdoor play spaces, communal eating outside and a big garden that the kids love. Every day that I came for pick up, I could find my son with a group of kids happily playing with these oversized blocks; building trains and airplanes. My son LOVED going to school and he fell in love with his two teachers. Brittie, the director, has such a great vision for the school. She implemented anti-bias curriculum for the kids and an anti-bias bookclub for the parents. (Someone please tell me another preschool doing this in LA!!!) I felt very much a part of a school COMMUNITY; this was not a place to just be invisible. Brittie hosts an adult orchestra that parents can join. We have events and parties at the school. There are multiple events for the kids to showcase their art. And she really encourages parents to help expose everyone to their family's ethnicity and/or culture through food and art. My son was also able to take ballet, breakdancing and piano! All of this wrapped in a Spanish immersion curriculum. AND all of this with hours that support working parents (not that bogus 9-1 or 9-3 schedule that comparable schools in other neighborhoods have). This school is really a dream and I recommend it wholeheartedly. read more

It's quite ironic that the two reviewers that were after my review are black. I have no reason to lie about this school and to only give my opinion as to what happened to me and my wife during our tour. It's also interesting that a reviewer from two years ago also felt that this school practices discrimination. It doesn't matter how much Brittie says she is black that doesn't take away from the truth. In reading her response she starts off with a lie that we were late to the tour. We actually was the second couple to arrived hence the teacher had us wait in the play area then you had us hastily wait in the lobby. That was our first interaction where we could tell you didn't want us there. Then you trivialize our experience as bad timing and we are not a good fit for your school. You talk about rush to judgment in your reply but how would you know if you never had a conversation with us? Also when my wife asked questions in the group setting you were very dismissive and demeaning in your response. When we asked for a application you made us wait until the end while giving the white woman an application because she had to leave early. I 110% stand next to my previous review. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this preschool. My child has been there for about 2 and a half years and will be graduating this summer. My son has thrived and has been so happy during his time at the school. He has learned so much by playing and has developed lasting friendships. He has also learned Spanish and understands it perfectly. There is also a great community vibe and I have made some great friendships as well. I will forever be grateful for this magical school. My husband and I attended the tour for this school the first week of June with Brittie and Rebecca along with 6 other couples. During the tour they spoke a lot of about how their school functions and described very basic things what the day of a kid is like at world city center. The main and only reason why I liked this school, was because of the garden they have. My husband and I were interested so we filled out paperwork to be informed of space "availability", which seemed odd for the director to say, let alone to host a tour without knowing what availability they have. Well, 2 weeks later I send an email to Brittie letting her know I had not received any email regarding space "availability" and said she would send it within the next day. A month later I have yet to receive this "email with space availability". I think these women who run the school are being selective and a bit discriminative to who attends their school. During the tour at no point did they say with were selective with who they pick to attend their school. I could be wrong.... but either way they are unprofessional by not doing what they say they would do. I should have known from the beginning, when they took 2 weeks to reply to me. Tuition by the way is $1,100 no lunch provided... As a parent you need to have good communication with a school and if this is how they function where they forget to send emails, then I'm glad I didn't get it anyways! read more

My son (now 7) has been attending every camp opportunity WCC has offered since they opened their doors (sadly, he's too old to attend the preschool). He is an enrolled student in a language immersion elementary school, and I welcome the opportunity for him to continue his bilingual and multi-cultural learning when school is not in session. Funny thing - he has no idea he's learning because he's having so much fun. Every day I hear tales about what he and his friends picked and ate from WCC's organic garden, I marvel at the art and engineering he brings home, and my heart is warmed by how incredibly happy he is. Rebecca and Brittie are unbelievably caring and warm, and they possess a firm understanding of how to lovingly handle groups of multi-age children at once. They introduce the kids to so many different global cultures, all the while giving them freedom to explore on their own and follow their own paths of interest. And while the school offers so many opportunities to learn about the world, they are firmly rooted in their support of the surrounding community. The school reflects and honors the diversity of this very special part of Los Angeles, and my family feels lucky to be a part of the WCC community. read more

World City Center is a gem in our community. This learning environment, created by two creative, educated and inspiring women, marries dual language learning with a constructivism model. With a commitment to art, music and movement and a delicious learning garden to explore and nurture, WCC is set apart from other schools in the city. Both of my children have benefited from their preschool and enrichment programs. Last summer my oldest child did summer camp there and was absolutely heartbroken when he thought he was going to leave camp (for vacation and other summer commitments). We were so moved by all that he was learning and his love for the place that we rearranged our schedule so he could continue. Since then we have not missed an opportunity to sign him up for enrichment and other programs through the center. The teachers, leaders and students there become a family. This is more than a school. This kind of multi-cultural, diverse, high quality learning experience was hard to find in the heart of the city, so Rebecca and Brittie created it - and I thank them for it! We needed this in our community! World City Center is a wonderful neighborhood school, cultural center and important fixture in our community of West Adams. World City Center is an incredible gem in the West Adams neighborhood. My twins attend the school and have been there since for the past 2.5 years. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the school. The owners and teachers treat the children as if they were their own. My kids adore being there, which to me is the ultimate test. They garden, do art every day, cook food from the garden, do yoga, and learn about the world, all while learning Spanish! I cannot think of a more nurturing, play-centered and idyllic environment for my son than World City Center. My husband and I were looking for a dual language pre-school and were blown away when we discovered WCC. It is a jewel of school, an absolute treasure of a place where my son has been encouraged and delighted to thrive, think and be himself. The warmth, care and professionalism that this community-centered school exudes are phenomenally abundant. WCC is culturally sound, dynamic institution that is an absolute joy to take part in. My son leaps out of bed every day excited to go there. He comes home worn out, dirty from play with a curiosity inspired by a well-chosen curriculum and deeply caring and imaginative staff. We love that he is beginning to comprehend and speak Spanish (my wife and I are not native speakers) and looks at the world with wonder and humor. We could not have dreamed up a better place for our son. And bonus, Brittie and Rebecca throw down the best fundraising parties with salsa dancing, craft cocktails and some of the best LA street food I've ever tasted.
