I cannot recommend Jamie and Tender Years Childcare enough!!! The in-home facility is so warm, clean, open, and safe. The neighborhood it is located in is very quiet and feels very safe as well. Jamie is an absolutely lovely person that is genuinely passionate about childcare. The way she work with the children on their development, whether it's helping infants to roll over and crawl, language development, encouraging good manners in toddler, and more; is incredible. Tender Years is the perfect blend of care nurturing, play, and education. Our personal experience is that our 4 month old child started with Jamie 2 months ago. We were so nervous to send our infant to a daycare setting, but all of our worries melted away in the second week when my child started smiling at, and reaching for Jamie at drop-off; he was so happy to be with her! Our child enjoys daycare and looks forward to seeing Jamie and his friends every day. From a developmental and overall happiness standpoint, our child began thriving once we started at Tender Years. Miss Jamie is amazing. My little one used to be so attached to me that placing her in the care of anyone besides her grandmothers was actual torture. Although it took a few days of her crying (and who am I kidding - me crying too), she finally adjusted beautifully to 3 days a week at Tender Years. She made little friends quickly and Miss Jamie always made sure they were fed healthy foods, even planned field trips. and somehow magically got all the kids to nap. She is nothing short of an angel! So loving, kind and patient. I have nothing but good memories of the time my daughter was in the care of TYCC and I'm excited about their reopening. My son was at Tender Years just shy of a year. Jamie and her staff provide a safe and loving environment for the kids, my son's speech greatly improved while he was there, and he also formed tight bonds with several of the other kids and caretakers. Something to be aware of is the multiple closures -- in addition to the 4 vacation weeks throughout year, there are 3 vacation weeks during the December/January holiday season, other holidays throughout the year, and COVID closures. With the exception of COVID, you are provided a calendar in advance, but because parents/guardians are still required to pay full tuition during these closures and find back-up care, it can become a strain in more ways than one. Other than that, the warm, loving, intimate setting was ideal for my little one. read more

Update 10/2017*** My son is now in transitional kindergarten after being in the care of Tender Years for two years. His teacher recently completed her assessments and said my son is one of the "top" of his class and knows beyond all of the milestones set for the curriculum. He knows all of his letters, numbers, basic phonics, the solar system, and so much more at 4 Years old. He is starting to read and I know so much of it has to do with Ms. Jamie and TYCC. Not only was he loved, held, encouraged and supported, he learned so much and is now beyond where I could ever have imagined. I will be forever grateful to TYCC. We are first time parents who obsessed about child care. We toured many facilities, but couldn't find one that felt "right" and hired a nanny. When our daughter turned one, we realized that she needed more socialization and began the next round of tours. We toured many facilities looking for the right fit. We finally found a home at Tender Years. The space is bright, clean, and they have a great outdoor space--a place to run an jump is a priority. Of course, we were still anxious and worried about how our kid would adjust. We should not have worried, Ms. Jamie runs a fun and tight ship. When we first started, she texted pictures of our daughter so that we could see she was doing fine. She held my daughter at drop off to make sure she was not too sad when we left. She was also super patient and helped ensure that our daughter napped. We have now been there six months and our daughter is doing great. She loves the kids and the staff (Brittany and Monica and talks about them often. She has learned to count, and now knows some of the planets, colors, and all the ABCs in English and Spanish. It has been a joy to see our daughter learn so much. We really can't say enough Jamie, Monica or Brittany. It is clear that they love kids, and go an extra mile. As an example, when my daughter turned two, Monica took a video of the kids singing happy birthday and my daughter enjoying the attention. Really, check it out. I'm no expert when it comes to doing parent "stuff", such as researching and interviewing daycares. But i know a gem when i find one, and Tender Years Child Care is just that. Last summer, we stumbled upon this home daycare and luckily got a spot for out little when I went back to work. Jamie and Mum Mum have an extensive background in education. The designated space is well organized and clean. The curriculum standard, yet flexible for our baby. They serve healthy meals and snacks. Loved how it was a home, with the feel of visiting a friend. But honestly, just seeing how happy the kids there are sold it for me. It's been almost 5 months, and no regrets. The women here are amazing. Along with Jamie & Mum Mum, We really love Monica and Brittany. Our baby has been developing a lot of her social skills, and hitting all her milestones. She also gets tons of love from the caretakers, as well as the other children. I don't even hesitate a second to recommend TYCC. One of the best decisions I've made. read more

After a ton of researching and asking around, we discovered TYCC for our son. He was 2 and a half when he started, has been there a little over a year and has loved going every day. He has made friends, learned his numbers and letters and always comes home with a story to share about his day. Our son has a speech delay, but Ms. Jamie and the other teachers have been a huge help, practicing his words and sounding things out. They were also super supportive as we navigated methods of potty training. As the parents, it has made it easier for us to leave him all day - he is well fed, social, gets adequate play time, reading and his favorite, dancing. And when we've been in a weekend or weeknight babysitting bind, Ms. Jamie has always come to the rescue. We love TYCC! read more

Our son has been attending TYCC for almost two years, since he was 1. We highly recommend this gem of a home day care. There is a good mix of kids ranging from infant to 3-4 years old. I've had the pleasure of getting to watch many of my son's playmates grow up in this day care. My son loves it here. He loves the owner, Jamie, and all of the other care providers. By the time my son was 2 1/2 he was already counting to 20, knew all of his shapes and colors, and was saying "please may I..." along with other polite phrases. Pros: very clean and organized. Safe neighborhood. Outdoor play area in the back is secured with fencing. The center employes a curriculum so it is a preschool as well as day care for the 2+ crowd. Occasional field trips, especially in the summer, to places like the Zoo and the Zimmer Children's Museum. Art activities. Music activities. Lots of story time. Encourages parent involvement. All meals and snacks are included and they are starting to move to an organic menu. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. She provides regular "date nights" for a low flat fee, which is fantastic. Cons: these "cons" are really just the drawbacks of home day care versus a facility. It is closed over holidays and certain vacation weeks. Also, if the providers get sick, it usually shuts down the day care. These are par for the course for home day care, but one should keep it in mind when thinking about a provider. I really could not be happier with TYCC. I will be enrolling my younger son when he turns six months and I go back to work. read more

We now have two children at tender years childcare. Our older son is 3 1/2, and our younger son is 10 months. Each started there when they were just a few months old. Tender years is small and no-frills, but it is all about the love, respect, warm, and learning. I never knew what to expect when I first embarked on using a daycare, but our experience with Jamie and her great staff has exceeded our expectations and we now recommend to all of our friends that they consider daycare over a nanny. One of the best aspects about tender years, is that all of the children regardless of age are together throughout the day. Our older son started off as the baby and learned so much from being around all of the older kids. It is intimate, and the children develop true friendships, and the families are great. I began taking my 15 month old daughter to TYCC a few months ago. It was the first time she had been to daycare so, of course, I was nervous. My daughter loves it there and she is thriving! I feel she is very well taken care of and it is a relief to not worry about her while she is there. I believe this is the best environment for her when she cannot be at home. She is playing, learning, socializing and eating healthy food that is provided on the premise, which I love! TYCC is the best. They have an awesome care giver to child ratio. Everyone is hands on and my 2.5 year old son loves going there. He loves to talk about what he did at preschool and gets excited when we drop him off. Any time I have a special request Ms. Jamie is super accomodating. He's only been going for a couple of months but already I can see his verbal skills improving. Just this past weekend I said can you count to ten and he counted to 20! We loveeee Tender Years!! My son has been attending for over a year now as a drop off, which is an additional and awesome service Jamie offers. The best part is that eventhough he doesn't attend daily he feels apart of the family. Jamie, Monica and Brittney have gotten to know him and take such good care of our Lil guy! Before our daughter was born we started the process of researching and visiting day care facilities and home daycares. We probably visited about a dozen before I needed to get back to work, and Tender Years was our favorite, hands down. After our daughter was born we went back to do a gut-check, and from the moment Miss Jamie picked our daughter up and held her we knew our instincts had been right. The most important thing about TYCC are the people. Jamie, Monica, Brittney and everyone involved in the place are professional, warm, caring, fun and show affection and real care for the kids. They seem to have a unique relationship with each child, and treat them like little individual people. There are lots of hugs, high-fives and blown kisses. Our daughter is excited to see the staff and her friends every day - to be honest, she doesn't even look back when we drop her off - she's off with her shoes and on the move ... Initially we worried about our girl starting daycare so young (at 4 months) but it's been wonderful for her (and for us) - she has a routine that has developed naturally, and we think a lot of her social and physical development has to do with being in the mix with the older kids - she's constantly learning by watching and interacting with them, and when I pick her up at the end of the day I see how sweet the older kids are with her. That all comes from the great care, attention and guidance they get every day. The staff are also awesome at keeping us in the loop - when our daughter was smaller we all tracked eating and diapers and sleep really carefully and talked together all the time about our girl's day and her development. As first-time parents we tend to ask a lot of questions, and Jamie and Monica and Brittney always have the time (and patience :) to chat. The home is safe, clean, well-laid out for the kids and everything is well-organized. It seems to run like clockwork (without feeling at all like a factory). The kids play a lot outside, and do a lot of reading and educational activities, as well as fun crafts. We were very lucky to find TYCC and that they had a space for us - grateful every day that they're part of our lives. We couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

Our family loves Tender Years and highly recommend them! My 22-month-son has been attending this program since August 2015 and it's already made a world of difference. As background, we enrolled him after a pretty challenging daycare experience. First, his original beloved provider--who he was with from 5 to 15 months--closed unexpectedly. Then, the 2nd provider we had to find in a rush was hugely disappointing. After 3 months with them, it became clear that the owners often left 1 overwhelmed staff to person to care for 6+ kids--among other issues. So we were desperate to find a another place that was high quality and trustworthy. Fortunately, Miss Jamie, her mother "Mom Mom", and their team had a spot available and my son is once again happy to 'go to school'. Everyone there is incredibly attentive, warm, and nurturing with the children. As soon as we pull up in the car, he starts saying "Mom Mom" and his friends' names. Tender Years also does a great job of infusing education into all of their activities (including field trips), while always emphasizing positive social skills and good decision making. In just a few months, my son has learned so many new words and is starting to call out numbers when he sees them. He's taking pride in being a 'helper' with different tasks at home and is more communicative than ever. In addition, I appreciate how available and responsive Ms. Jamie and the team are if I have any updates or questions as a parent and when Isaiah has an appointment. Last but not least, I love that Tender Years provides healthy organic meals, including dinner, that my son really enjoys. After a long day at work, it's always nice to know that I'm picking up a well fed and satisfied child. read more

TYCC has been the most extraordinary blessing in my life. Ms. Jamie, her mother and her incredible staff (Brittney and Monica) are truly dedicated, patient, and loving child care providers. I feel incredibly fortunate that they had space for my son when I relocated back to LA this year. The home facility is extremely well organized, cleaner than clean and has a wonderful enclosed backyard where the kids can play safely. These were basic things that I was hoping for in a home care facility but what they REALLY offer is so much more. At my son's previous daycare he would come home with a severe diaper rash at least three times a week which created a great deal of mental stress for me knowing he was not having his diaper changed frequently enough. At TYCC this has NEVER happened. At the previous daycare my son would frequently cry at drop off. At TYCC this never happens. In fact, he cries sometimes when he has to leave which is not easy for me but a clear reminder that he LOVES being with all these wonderful women and the other children with whom he shares the space. It was his first couple of days at TYCC that I began to feel a deep tingle of joy knowing that the love of my life was in the right place; surrounded with guidance, enthusiasm, attention, boundaries and tenderness. Everything else has been beyond my hopes and dreams for alternative care to my own. The women have a wonderful curriculum and actively and enthusiastically inspire learning. My son just turned two in March 2016 and he already knows the alphabet, can count to 15 and always seems to have a book in hand when I pick him up in the evenings. TYCC is "the village" I was hoping for to help me co-parent while I am at work during the day. I am so grateful that every single one of these extraordinary women is in my life. We love Tender Years Child Care. We checked them out because we heard they provided 3 organic meals with snacks a day (which is such a time-saver not having to prep all that the night before) but we were really won over by Ms. Jamie. She and Mom Mom have been in education for a very long time and once our toddler started attending she quickly began speaking more fluently and counting. They do lessons and I'm constantly surprised by the knowledge our 2-year-old drops on us. Having older kids (3 and 4 year-olds) with the younger ones has been a great influence on her. They go on field trips to the fire station and the zoo and play outside a ton. Every parent wants to know their child is happy and being well-cared for when they're not around and I know Ms. Jamie, Mom Mom, Monica and Brittany are feeding my girls well, engaging them with new ideas and providing a safe place for them to thrive. read more

Our son has been attending Tender Years for nearly 2.5 years - since he was six months old. Our daughter, who is nearly six months old now, will start there soon. Our experience has been great. The hours are good for parents who work. Miss Jamie, the owner, and Mom Mom, her mother, were both teachers, and it shows in the amount of learning that happens. We have been touring pre-schools recently for our son and are struck by the number of things our son already knows! (Alphabet, basic counting, colors, shapes, etc.) It's gratifying that he's learning while also getting to play and make friends. The other helpers are really friendly and love the children. The indoor and outdoor spaces are clean and neat. The food, which is included in the fee, is varied and nutritious. We credit Jamie with our son's love of green beans and avocado! The only downside, as others have mentioned, is you need to arrange alternate care when Tender Years is closed. That hasn't been too much of a hassle, though. Great environment. We love Tender Years. The only reason my daughter is no longer attending Tender Years Day Care is we moved south. My daughter is 22 months old and she already knows how to count to ten, sometimes I even hear 16 and 17! She sings her ABC's every night (almost) at dinner. Beyond teaching my daughter the basics there is so much love at this place that leaving every day takes so much time as everyone wants to hug each other before leaving. The care is top notch and have always felt comfortable leaving my daughter under Jamie's care. She also has amazing help Monica, Brittany, and Mum Mum. As much as I miss my daughter when she is at school I know she loves being there and that means a lot to a full time working Mom. They offer healthy organic meals as a part of their tuition. They do small field trips and play outside everyday, when the weather permits. The only drawback is the four weeks a year they take off but when our babies grow up there is going to be that and possibly more time they will be off as school is closed nearly that much. The community of parents (whom we miss) also makes this small drawback easier as everyone works together to find care, when needed, during those few weeks off. My daughter has been going to Tender Years since she was two months old (she's currently six months old), and we LOVE it! It's hard to leave a baby in day care when your maternity leave is up- but the smile on her face when I drop her off says it all!! The location is in a quiet neighborhood, the house is super clean, and there's a big backyard area that's enclosed by a wall. I like that my baby gets outside time just like the bigger kids (she enjoys watching them). Jamie and Mom Mom are experienced and warm caregivers who really care about the kids. I've heard them working on things like manners and kindness with the older kids, and it really shows - when I arrive, I always see a group of sweet children playing nicely together or listening to a story. Even when things are busy, Jamie and Mom Mom take the time to talk with me about my baby's progress - rolling over, teething, laughing, starting to scoot and crawl, they make sure I know exactly what she's up to. One drawback is that the facility is closed when they take vacation, so you have to arrange backup care. But even that wasn't a problem - Jamie helped me find a babysitter.
