I've been to Ladro a number of times now and on each occasion it has been a very pleasant experience. The service is really friendly and the pizzas are up there to rival the likes of DOC, +39 and other upscale Italian pizza joints. The pizzas have a nice thin crust and take a minimalistic approach to toppings which I'm a fan of. The Badabing pizza comprising of Italian sausage, provolone, fresh basil and chilli has to be my personal favourite. Chilli on a pizza just works real well! The wine list is quite extensive and our server recommended an excellent bottle of wine that complimented the food and didn't cost an arm and a leg. The bomboloni (Italian doughnuts with ice cream and blood orange syrup) was pretty special too. NB: This is a very family friendly venue. There have been lots of happy families here when we've visited.

This Pizza restaurant is well known for doing old school pizza right. On a Friday evening and with a party of three, we tried our luck to get a seat in the usually booked out restaurant. Lucky for us they don't reserve the cosy courtyard out back. Definitely not as stylish as the interior, but you still get served the same food. Out back we did have close access to the unisex toilet, which is taking part of the trend of having Aesop soaps fastened to the wall, yet these were over a laundry trough. As to the food, the ravioli melted in the mouth and the toppings on the pizza could have been picked in Sicily that morning. Fresh is definitely an understatement. A glass of Pinot matched the food well. The staff were attentive and courteous as well as sharing some smiles and wit.

    Dolce dessert. Cinnamon pannacota. Coffee.

WOW finally I have found an authentic Italian place that does gluten free pizza (handmade ones at that). So good that I kept on saying to my wife over & over again "I want another one, I want another..." but I settled for dessert which was quite as good. What more can I say about this place? Very very good.

Great food, Great service. Pizzas are a must! I recommend the Leek & Gorgonzola as well as the Scout (didn't try the pasta).

    Review Highlights - Ladro

I generally can't eat a whole pizza but Ladro pizzas are just irresistible (and the crispy crust is very thin).

Pellegrini's is a classic and a required visit when in Melbourne. While it calls itself an espresso…read morebar it is also an informal Italian restaurant. Well aged it's in counter format and likely has not changed much over the years. I ordered the lasagne which was good. Even better was this creamy smooth espresso in a proper cup. Delicious. Service is pleasant but you are there to go back in time, perhaps a simpler time.

Since then I have moved to US and visited Italy a couple of times, visited so many Italian restaurants/espresso bars, I still remember this place so well, today I'm looking my old blog and saw the pictures I took during that trip, why don't I just post an review and let everyone know this place has good food/drink, and nice staff. Hope I can visit this place sometime in the future!

The wait was definitely not for very long. We got a pager that buzzed pretty soon after we wandered off. For those who are/were unfamiliar as myself (being American on holiday), Hella Good is a place that serves Mediterranean-style wraps with pita bread filled with meat, veggies, and very delicious sauce. I got the Arnie, which includes the lamb leg meat. It was good. I don't know how it compares to other local offerings since this was one of a kind during our trip. FYI: - When you charge your card, it gives you a choice between charging in AUD or your home country's currency. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I think that's interesting. - It can get messy if you unwrap it a certain way, so have napkins and sanitizer available. - There are multiple locations.

Well, actually, no, namely because there is little difference between the two. However, the souvlakis are actually pretty awesome anyway. They also do chips, and while the herbs used in making the chips were pretty nice, I did find them a little soft. Still, the place isn't all that bad.
