The same woman I had spoken with on the phone was also the one who checked me in. When she asked where I had been staying before, I told her, and her response made it pretty clear that she also knew it wasn't exactly the greatest area--or "hotel." Walking to our room, the hallways were bright and clean, which was already a welcome change. Then we opened the door to what we jokingly started calling the "honeymoon suite." The room was spotless, there was no stale smoke smell, and the door actually locked securely. It's amazing how much you appreciate the basics after a bad experience somewhere else! Our room number was 222, so obviously this was going to be great. If you believe in that sort of thing. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, and having the fireplace and jacuzzi tub was a fun bonus that we definitely weren't expecting when the day started. They also offer a complimentary continental breakfast with a nice assortment of mini muffins, bagels, toast, a waffle maker, and other breakfast options. What started as a stressful hotel situation ended up working out for the best. I'm so glad we were able to get the last available room here. The property was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and the woman who helped me both over the phone and at check-in was wonderful. After the experience we'd had earlier, this place was exactly what we needed.

The hosts are so friendly and helpful. During our stay we went to a small town festival and a local county fair. The owners are continually working on improvements on this new campground. If you are traveling through the Rice Lake area this is definitely a resort to stay at. You are not treated as a customer at this resort but truly as a guest. We will definitely be back.

One thing that stood out to me as a guest, we saw a table leave a pretty big mess, and it was a reminder to all of us to make things a little easier on the staff by stacking plates and consolidating where we can.
