At the time of purchase, I trusted LaFontaine to sell me a safe, reliable vehicle that had been properly inspected and honestly represented. Instead, after purchasing the vehicle for approximately $16,000, I later discovered that it had significant undisclosed water damage and multiple serious issues that should have been identified and disclosed before the sale. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have been forced to spend an additional $7,000 in repairs directly related to problems that existed before I ever took ownership. These repairs created major financial hardship and caused me to lose confidence in both the vehicle and your dealership. What is most upsetting is the belief that these issues were either known by the dealership or should have been discovered during inspection prior to the sale. Selling a vehicle with hidden water damage without proper disclosure feels dishonest and deceptive. I entered this purchase in good faith, believing your dealership stood behind the quality and integrity of the vehicles you sell. Because of this experience, I cannot honestly provide a positive customer rating or recommendation. A customer should never have to spend thousands of dollars repairing major undisclosed defects immediately after purchasing a vehicle from a dealership they trusted. I first need to say this is my wife's page not mine but I am posting this about this dealership to warn people. I purchased a vehicle in in February of last year I paid $16,000 for a 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE that they said was just fine some slight front end damaged. I believe they sold me the vehicle with flood damage information and withheld it from me. So it cost me 7,000 Additional dollars to get it fixed so I wouldn't lose the whole vehicle. I had a very frustrating experience with this dealership. My vehicle has been in their service department for 4 days, and every single day I've been told "it'll be done today, or 100% tomorrow." That promise has been pushed back repeatedly with no real explanation or accountability. I understand that delays can happen, but the lack of honest communication is the real issue. Setting unrealistic expectations day after day instead of being upfront about the timeline is extremely unprofessional. I'm absolutely disgusted with ULYSSES TIJERINA who is just a phone operator for the service department, his manager who wouldn't give me his name, and Chris the mechanic who fixed the issue but broke an electrical connector and decided to silicone it instead of fixing it properly. Bought a used vehicle in December 2025 from Lafontaine of Lansing which is still running great and have not had any issues. Salesperson was very kind and helpful, easy to work with, and he even detailed my car himself. No complaints about first car buying experience, hence the 2 star rating. Would have recommended this business until now. March 2026 my husband bought a used vehicle from Lafontaine of Lansing. He purchased the extended warranty. Within the a couple weeks, there was a major computer issue, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. Car was brought in to LaFontaine. Service department could not find error codes, car appeared to run normally in-shop, and car was returned to my husband. This sequence of events happened 3 more times in the next week. This car was incredibly unreliable and unsafe to drive, so when we took the car in for a 4th time we refused to take it back until it was fixed. Lafontaine service department has now been in possession of our car for 4 weeks, unable to determine which of the 30 error codes is the real issue. My husband offered to come drive the car with a mechanic- when he arrived the service department was "too busy". Their only solution was to offer a trade in; valuing this car $3500 less than what my husband originally paid for. It appears they have had no sense of urgency to resolve this issue. It also appears that this business does not care that we were returning customers, and had purchased two vehicles from them in a short period of time. They also seem to not care that the car has spent more days in their service garage than it has in our own driveway. Very disappointing. I will not be recommending Lafontaine of Lansing. I would advise to go somewhere else if you want to feel cared about as a customer. read more

What a train wreck of a dealership. Went in to test drive a specific vehicle I was looking for that they had - no problem. On the test drive, the transmission immediately started failing. Of course, I'm not going to be buying this vehicle, which the salesperson was completely understanding of. Then the nonsense began. Despite telling them not to call me and multiple attempts to unsubscribe from their email lists, it has been endless pestering from them. What do I mean by endless? I mean that I recieve a separate phone call/message, text message, and email from 3 different sales people within a 30 minute time frame. That's 9 separate contacts in 30 minutes. This dealership is shady. Pulled in for an oil change they had a coupon a oil change and it was 40% more with all the additional charges. I understand if they would have said something when I pulled in and gave them the coupon but they didn't. They were 20% than my regular dealership even with the coupon. My Wife and I were out car shopping. We stopped into LaFontaine. While searching the used car section we happened upon exactly what we were looking for. Then a salesman approached us and told us they had just got that car in today and that he would get a plate and the keys and let us test drive it. My wife went on a test drive and I stayed back to talk numbers. I told the salesmen that we wanted the car and get the paperwork started. As I waited for my wife to return from her test drive the salesmen approached me and told me that he could not sell me the car because the parts manager was already going to buy it!?!?!? What? Really? My wife returned from the test drive and was very upset because she wanted the car. The salesman offered to show me another car from one of the other lots. He started showing me pictures, but we decided to leave. on the way home I called the salesman back and told him that I would like to see the other option the next day he said that he would arrange that, and have the car on the lot. When I called the next day. The salesman told me he would not be able to get it in until the following day. I let him know that I had to work the next day, but I could be back Friday morning. I ended up getting out of work early the following day so I called to see if the car had arrived yet. I was excited to take a look. This is when he informed me that there was something wrong with the car and that they would not be able to deliver it to the lot. I had a friend call the dealership that the car was supposed to come from and they told him that the car had been sold. So how exactly do you go about buying a car from La Fontaine? I mean seriously! I've tried to buy two cars there in 24 hours and they would not sell me either vehicle. They sold them to other buyers. My sales person didn't even offer any further assistance other than oh well. WORST SERVICE EVER, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I wanted to give them no stars, but the system wouldn't allow it. I have never left a review ever, but the service here was so bad that I am compelled to do so. My car was picked up and was supposed to be returned later that day. I called multiple times and received no answer. At 5:50 pm I get a call from Travis saying Matt (who was handling the service) had left for the day. I had to get a ride home and then back to work. I tried all morning to reach the service department and did not get an answer. I finally received a text saying I could pick up my car. I replied back saying you picked it up and need to return it. Once again no answer. I called multiple numbers at the service department.. no answer. Finally tried the sales department and asked to speak with the General Manager... guess what, no answer and no return phone call. Eventually Matt answered the phone and said, "I sent you the pick up link". No, you did not, but the link arrived moments after hanging up with him. Upon receiving my car, I could smell oil burning. My perception of this business is that it is not overly customer oriented. I purchased a used vehicle, which I had a different mechanic tighten up a shaky hood, and at the time of purchase I requested a second FOB. I was told that there might be one floating around somewhere, but it would probably be quicker if I purchased one off of Amazon. I didn't like it but I agreed. It was explained to me that the key person who programmed the FOB was there only on Tuesdays and that the dealership would set up a time that was convenient for both parties. After more than a month,I didn't feel it was my obligation to call the dealership after all I'm paying for a service. Apparently my perception was wrong. Once out the door I was forgotten. I went to a dealership in Jackson, Michigan and the FOB was programmed within the hour. read more

I recently called Lafontaine to see if they would honor the extended warranty I purchased two years ago when the dealership was owned by Glen Buege. They said they would and they called the warranty company to verify that my work would be covered. They called back to tell me they were sorry, but it would NOT be covered. I had purchased the highest end warranty and I called the warranty company to get clarification on why my work wasn't going to be covered. They said it probably would be and that I had an open case. Please do not send your vehicle to this dealership for service! Your service is and will be horrible. I dropped off a new 2021 GMC Yukon Denali for service on a Thursday for two recalls and a manufacturers' defect. The recalls were completed that very next day (Friday), however the manufacturers defect service part was scheduled out 3-5 days. This information had been communicated from the Service Rep on that FRIDAY. While we were provided a loaner vehicle (21' GMC Terrain) for the warranty service repairs, we were contacted on that following Monday regarding the service and was told that the vehicle was ready for pickup. Due to out of town travel for work, I told the service representative I would be back in town on Wednesday. He agreed and stated that will be okay if we dropped off the loaner that date. On Tuesday, we received a call from another service representative and he stated that he has been trying to contact my husband and was unable to get in contact with him and we MUST return the loaner on Tuesday, or else we will be charged and denied future services. He also mentioned that we were going to be banned from EVER receiving a loaner car, and we will be charged $25 per day for the loaner if it is not returned. In addition, I was told that were were unable to travel out of state with the loaner and the Service Rep accused us of traveling out of state into Ohio. I said, "Sir, who told you we traveled out of state?" and he said well that was a question you asked when you dropped off the Denali. I said, "I was aware of the restriction per the contract language as it stated as no out of state travel in the loaner!; And please do not accuse us of traveling out of state. I then told the service rep that I was never going to get any car serviced EVER from LaFontaine. The Service rep stated that if we did not return the car as promised by Wednesday (due to the miscommunication from LaFontaine), the dealership will not allow us to be serviced or offered a loaner for any future services. Please DO NOT buy or get a car/truck serviced or anything from this dealership! TERRIBLE SERVICE and VERY BAD with communicating. We were treated like trash and not like customers and although we are grateful for the larger car loaner (Terrain), THIS VEHICLE WAS IN NO WAY A COMPARABLE VEHICLE TO A YUKON DENALI!!!! I forgot to mention, due to the pandemic (COVID), when we picked up the loaner the vehicle had not been sanitized nor cleaned out at all. We had to get a car wash as well as through food trash out of the loaner before we could even use the car. They need new management and new Service reps AND new guidelines for cleanliness on all returned loaner cars! read more

I wanted to give them another chance but I will again be driving the extra miles to get great customer service at Team One. I called and left a message regarding new key fobs for my son's vehicle. I did receive a prompt call back the following day but the customer service representative was rude and really did not know what she was talking about. She told me after talking to service that I would only be able to get a key fob and no key. I would need to continue to use the old fob for the key and the new fob for all of the remote capabilities. This didn't seem right. When I questioned her, she literally barked at me telling me she spoke to service and I didn't know what I was talking about. I called Team One and scheduled an appointment for later this week. Not only will they be addressing my issue in the correct way, they were kind courteous and respectful. After going to test drive a 2017 Ford Fusion for my fiancé, I determined I wanted to place a down payment on the car to hold it, and come back the next day to make a deal. The salesman proceeded to tell me he couldn't do that but not to worry, there were no appointments scheduled that day to see or test drive this particular car. I left, only to be called a few hours later and told they had sold the car. Then, the next day I get a call from the sales manager saying he could help me with my interest of buying a new 2020 vehicle. WHAT??!? This whole debacle was strike three against Lafontaine for me. Took vehicle in for very first time for warranty work and recall. No one is overly talkative when you show up and you are left a little clueless as to where/what you are supposed to be doing. Work was don't quickly and in less time them originally thought and seems to have been done well which is good. When work was done I was called over a loud speaker and headed back to service but never saw the writer again, he apparently didn't think it was necessary to explain the warranty work to me at all, you are also left standing in service wondering where you should go now to get vehicle and paperwork since no one bothers to explain that either. Someone should speak to you when work is done and then would be able to get you heading in the right direction if they walked and talked. Also the day I was there it had snowed and then melted some and then frozen. I was there at 10am and it didn't appear they had made any effort to clear up over by service, so going out to get vehicle meant I had to ice skate to it and hope not to fall and climbing into my vehicle was ridiculous with all that ice. read more

I have have had to return to their service department three times this month, the last, worst, experience was when I had to have the catalytic converter on my Encore replaced, as well as the some the exhaust system, only to have it fail (again) two weeks later. The parts were under warranty but they asked that I pay for all the labor that needed to be done. This all began to feel like they couldn't get it right, and I had to pay the freight. No one was willing to take ownership of the issues, no one was willing to treat me like a valuable customer, no one was willing to do anything but stick out their hand for (more of) my money. I was, prior to this, considering a new car; I will not buy it here, nor will I ever return to their service department. Just a little effort, and some thoughtfulness, on their part would have gone a long way in this whole experience. Took my GMC Canyon (2005) for an oil change and to replace a fog bulb and waited 2 hours. I noticed others who arrived for service after me getting their vehicle and leaving long before my wait.
