Purchasing the vehicle went well. We had to take it in for service for an electrical problem about a year later. Normally it would be taken to the dealer in Lansing where we bought it, but their phone tree access to Service is the worst I have ever experienced; dead end phone options, prompts for an extension number we didn't have and transfers to nothingness before my call was dropped. I described it as such to the principle driver and just to prove I wasn't exaggerating, I called again with her listening and it looped through the same spaghetti logic before the call was dropped. Brought my car in for a handle change, I ordered the parts weeks ago and went in today to get the labor done. They tell me they ordered the wrong parts and I have to come back. I bring my wrong parts to the lady at the "parts" shop. And this lady speaks to me in an extremely unprofessional and unpleasant manner as if it was my fault the ordered the wrong part. Seriously needs an attitude adjustment. Body shop members are more understanding but the workers here really seem suicidal. Seriously if you hate your job then just quit lmao. bought a optima few weeks back, car over heats to the point where my ac wont blow cold air, my thermostat is going bad. They look over my car for service and tell me while the thermostat may be failing,but it hasnt failed yet so they cant replace it under my warrantee. IF A PART IS NOT FUNCTIONING AS IT SHOULD DOES THAT NOT COUNT AS BROKEN? They then tell me if i want to pay out of pocket i can, NO! Thats what the warrantee is for. Stay as far away from this location as possible. I bought a 2021 Chevy Equinox here, and the very next day, the front wheels started wobbling. Within 48 hours, the check engine light was on. I took it to a certified Chevy dealership where they found numerous issues. Most were covered by warranty, except for the catalytic converter. Chevy quoted me $1,600 for the repair. When I brought this back to Kia of Lansing to see if they'd help a new customer, their service manager, Orville Nixon, quoted me $3,200 for the same job. Even with their "generous" $600 discount, they were still $1,000 higher than the Chevy dealer. To top it off, they charged me a $180 diagnostic fee just to confirm what I had already told them. I brought my vehicle to Kia of Lansing after an accident to get an estimate, and only an estimate. Brennan took it upon himself to chose what repairs he felt should be done and what extra services I would be paying them for without my consent. It was a simple bent control arm and a damaged hub from hitting a curb. Brennan decided on replacing my rims, tires, spark plugs, cabin filter, an oil change, brake pads and rotors all around and paint work I never asked for or authorized. When I refused to pay for the work he messed my car up. Loosened the spark plugs so I had bad compression, lowered my tire pressure to 15psi in all my tires, refused to reinstall my brake pads, messed up my vehicle alignment and ransomed my car back to me for repairs I never wanted. My car had to be towed home... the police say its a "Civil Matter" and I can file my complaints with the state but Brennan and his boss Keith could care less. They fleeced me and my insurance for thousands of dollars. I will NEVER come back. read more

This Kia service department needs some executive supervision! In my spring of 2025 experience the service advisor was not helpful for service engine issues. They really kiss up to you when you have your scheduled oil changes because they want you to give them a good review but any other service issues seem to be an inconvenience to them. Worst service I've ever gotten from any business. I brought my car in for an engine recall, and now it doesn't drive for every other reason. I was advised to get a new alternator, even though my alternator was only one month old. They said it was faulty, but what I really think happened is that someone messed up one of the wires to my alternator and didn't want to fix it. When I asked them if they could pull the alternator out so I could return it--since they claimed it was faulty--they said they would, but they would have to charge me. After numerous visits for repairs and oil changes, I'd never buy a Kia again because of the horrible service I got from Kia of Lansing. read more

I, Kathy attempted to purchase a 2023 Certified Pre-Owned 2023 Kia Sportage from Kia of Lansing and submitted a fair, well documented cash offer. The General Manager left a voicemail stating that the offer was "not unreasonable," however; no one ever followed up with me after the General Manager stated my offer wasn't "unreasonable". Also, KIA of Lansing reduced the Sportage price twice per Kelly Blue Book all while not responding to a cash buyer. Kia of Lansing behavior is disappointing, especially from a dealership that is recognized as a "Dealer of Excellence" that stonewall and evaded closing the sale, when the General Manger stated via a voicemail my cash offer wasn't unreasonable which show bad faith and deceptive practices from a dealership recognized as a Dealer of Excellence. I just LOVE KIA of Lansing. I bought a KIA Soul about three years ago with the awesome assistance of Kody and their fabulous finance gal, Lisa. I had challenging credit but they got me into a new car. I recently went and test drove a blazer but just didn't love it so stopped at KIA of Lansing to see what they had and fresh out of detailing was a very low milage used Sorento not even listed yet. I talked to, Kody he handed me the keys and it was a done deal I had to have it. Kody and Lisa worked very hard and even stayed late that night to secure me a loan with a far better interest rate, going well into the next day but, Lisa did her magic and made it happen for me when I didn't think it was going to. I had an appointment for some repairs, and I was really pleased because they slid me in to accommodate my schedule. Saturday morning I dropped my vehicle off for my 10:30, the competence stopped there. I was treated like I was bothering them when I dropped my vehicle off, the gentlemen seemed clueless, I shrugged it off as being new. I was told they closed at 4:00, which was technically true, but they failed to mention the service department closed at 3:00. I went back at 3:30 to see what was going on after no communication throughout the day. I was told they got busy so they decided they were going to do it on Monday. I was never asked or notified of this decision. It would not have worked anyway because my family needed that vehicle on Monday. I purchased a new Sportage in 2018. I was recovering from a bankruptcy after a costly divorce and needed to replace my daily vehicle. I did purchase the 2018 Sportage; I do really like the vehicle. However, because of the lying and dishonesty of the sales staff and manager I will never shop from the Young family again. I like the Kia brand, just not this deceptive branch. I refuse to have my vehicle serviced here because I don't feel that I can trust them. They took advantage of my situation to push me into a higher finance percentage and would not sell me a red sportage without additional fees; the blue one that he was pushing would not incur such fees... and their Sedona has been discontinued according to the salesman. Every once in a while I'll think I'd rather go with an independent shop for a price break but my experiences elsewhere have been awful and I always end up back here and happy. I even started taking my Honda here after a bad experience with the Honda dealer and they treat every car with the same high quality service. We have been loyal Kia customers for nearly a decade. We recently went through a lease trade in where Kia of Lansing (worked with Neil Miller) agreed to handle the pay off our previous vehicle. It's now been SIX MONTHS and that hasn't taken place. This dispute has now gone on so long that the Kia finance department sent US--NOT KIA OF LANSING--to collection. We are receiving collection calls between 5 and 7 times a day FOR A DEBT KIA OF LANSING AGREED TO PAY AS PART OF OUR LEASE AGREEMENT. Long story short, our credit has been compromised and we are personally handling a process that should performed by the dealership months ago. Please please please reconsider going with Kia of Lansing when purchasing/leasing a vehicle. I can not overstate how awful our experience has been. Side note, when we finally got to the bottom of things, the general manager said, "this happens kind of a lot." Apparently he meant at the Kia finance department not in his dealership. I'm not sure how to their relationship works, but it seems like if that was true there would be a protocol in place. Maybe the protocol is to just let customers fend for themselves? Not sure. ***Update*** it turns out the money was sent to the Kia finance department in July but was sent back to Kia of Lansing because of a mistake at the finance department where kia finance associated the funds with a different account. This is why my review remains negative: We called Neil Miller repeatedly over the course of SIX MONTHS to ask why the debt wasn't paid. Not ONCE did anyone ever mention the check was sent back. Not until yesterday when I spent hours of my own time working as a forensic accountant for their dealership. If this error had been acknowledged 6 months ago we never would have been sent to collections and this whole mess could have been avoided. Instead Kia of Lansing didn't mention the error and left us to work with the finance department (and eventually a very aggressive collection agency) on our own to try to diagnose what the issue was. I have referred many family members and friends to the dealership over the years. The sales team is listens and that goes all the way up to Skip. The service crew knows their product and gives you a heads up about work your going to need in the furniture. A manager at KIA seriously misrepresented a vehicle we planned to buy. We put a $1K deposit on a car that was scheduled to be delivered in a few days, but when the car arrived it didn't have two features that he had promised it would have. He claimed this was an innocent mistake, but we find that highly implausible. We called specifically to confirm that this car had both these features, and this manager looked up the vehicle using the VIN and assured us that it did. Our assumption is that he probably thought we'd buy it anyway. Given that we were driving from 1 hour away, and had already invested time and money getting ready to buy the car on a Saturday, he probably assumed that we were already invested, especially as inventory is generally low and sellers are in control. If this was, instead, "just" incompetence--rather than anything deliberate--then it is extraordinary and something his supervisor ought to know about. It is telling that after our whole family drove out to buy the car, and we were waiting their with our kids, he left it to our poor sales person to apologize on his behalf. He didn't seem to have the courage to come out and and apologize to us in person. This isn't the kind of customer service we have come to expect from KIA. read more

Being a first time car buyer, I have NO idea what I was doing. I was looking to finance a USED Kia. Upon arrival at the location, we're weren't greeted by the receptionist. Then, after asking if we could get some help, we were sent to probably one of the rudest saleswomen i have ever met. Her same was Staci and was unwilling to work with anyone who has a budget lower than a brand new car She tried forcing me to test drive cars I did not want, when I told her my price range (~150ish USED) for monthly she laughed in my face and said "Good Luck finding that anywhere. The lowest you will find is around $300 a month." I was appalled. $300 a month for a USED car?! I would understand if they didn't have any cars fitting my budget on the lot, but she blatantly told me i wouldn't find that anywhere. I left angry and feeling very discouraged. If you purchase a car from here, dont let them barter with a "tire and wheel warranty". I did. It took almost 3 weeks of my car in their shop for them to get me a USED WHEEL. Not a new one, to use on my vehicle. I was told to expect this each time. Not only did this happen, but I went to pick my car up and it was dead on the lot. They tried telling me it was brought in that way. Then conceded it hadnt been brought in that way and they'd detail it for us, replace the battery and they would deliver the car to me the next day. At the end of business hours the following day, I had once again called to find out if I was gonna get my car back. While I was waiting for them to find out where it was, a person down the road from me (that I did not know at all) called. He got my number off my paperwork. It was on the dashboard of my car, which was left unlocked, keys in it, and all my information in his driveway. Noone came up to his house, noone called me to let me know "it had been delivered" to the wrong address. They did offer me oil changes lol. I pay out of pocket for oil changes ANYWHERE ELSE but here. I have since bought another vehicle, but definitely not from here. I would not recommend this place to anyone, period. read more

Terrible experience!! Horrible business practice!! I was sold a car that the description states w/navigation. When I asked the sales guy how the nav works, he stated 'it's a used car, we don't sell Honda's, I don't know" I figured no biggie I'll mess with it when I get home. The car does NOT have navigation on it. I took it to a Honda dealer to have a Honda sales rep look at it, they stated Nav is not on the vehicle. When I called the Kia of Lansing regarding this issue, all they would do was offer me a measly dashboard Garmin. They refused to make this right, refused to issue me a refund for the difference I paid for the navigation that was not on my vehicle as the paperwork states. I have spent many times receiving rides to and from work and all the drivers are friendly. The prices are reasonable especially the oil change. I test drove a 14 Chrysler 200 n it had heated seats which...I do a lot of driving and have 2 ruptured discs in my back and other stuff wrong n so I really need to have it!!! It was taking about 3/4 hours and they weren't budgeting numbers so I left to get something to eat bcuz I was starving and tired of waiting. Isaac Hidalgo was the person I dealt with and he seemed really nice until I left and texted me to get a copy of my paystub which I didn't have any of my info w me and had to drive all the way back to my house (30 min away) to get what he needed. When I got back he was blowing me off to help other customers and was even being very rude to me not even making sure I had a place to sit since he now had some other cpl he was working with now instead of me sitting at his desk!! I wasn't sure if I could get the pay stub off the computer but I did and gave it to him and waited for another 2 hours just for him to tell me they couldn't get ahold of anyone at the banks bcuz it was too late when I had been there allllll day and would've had time if he didn't blow me off to help someone else which was totally shitty!!! My Kia, which I use to transport my grandchildren is apparently unfixable by Kia of Lansing. I brought it in with numerous "electrical issues" - twice. The first time - 6 months ago I paid (including brakes) - $1100 to fix the electrical issues, including the air bag light, the dome light, the blower motor, the check engine light, the sensors from the manual sliding door beeping, etc. This lasted 6 months. Today I take it back in for the same problems - but magically there are different causes.....now I need a passenger seat weight sensor to get the air bag light off - that is $1800 plus labor. Diagnose Blower System - $276 plus the Blower Resistor - which is $112 plus labor. Another dome fuse - $4.00 plus labor - $59.00. They can't fix it - but the radio gets overheated and pops loudly with a bit of smoke. I guess that's okay. But the biggest problem is that the tech told me that there is no way that they can get the sliding door to open - 2 - 200 pound men cranked and reefed on it and it will not open. They fixed a sensor on it 6 months ago - but now the story is that "someone" adjusted the door - OMG! Now I'm stuck with a door that isn't shut, but isn't able to be opened? What if it just pops open while I'm going down the road? He told me that won't happen. Really??? Don't use this service - please. read more

Being a customer who doesn't have great cedit nor make alot of money, I figured I would try here due to the lower retail prices for the KIA auto line. I was greeted by a friendy saleman whom I explained my dire situation to. He went to work immediatly without a sigh or a groan all the while making me feel like my business was appreciated even if he wasn't going to get a high commission. Ryan Joy made me feel human, presented no pressure to buy an extended warranty. One problem I did have is that a certified KIA I had expressed interest in and started the application process on was sold from under me after I left for the night. The certifed vehicle had already been sold however the salesman did not put a sold sign on it and the original purchhasers came in as I walked out for delivery of the vehicle. Ryan immediatly callled and let mme know the whole situation. Although it seems alittle shady I do beleive it was a mistake. Lisa from finance worked hard getting me approved which proved difficult with the paystubs my employer provided, however they did not give up or ignore me for a customer that would have been a better sale.
