I told her we needed to go in and because we were feeling so poorly, we'd like to make an appointment. She hastily told me they have no appointments. So I asked what was the wait time..again curtly said she couldn't divulge anything. Finally asked how many people were there..couldn't say because it may change. We wanted to avoid being around others, but this clinic did not even try to help or refer us to a telemedicine provider. Very disappointing as this is the ONLY urgent care close to us.

I'm not sure why, but I went to bed with a little boo-boo and woke up with a huge and painful swollen hand. As soon as I saw it I was certain I'd have to go to the emergency room but my hand hurt so much I couldn't even drive. My sister drove me to Coastal Urgent Care. When I first walked in the first thing that struck me was how new and clean it looked. The second thing that I am still laughing about is that they had complimentary camouflage koozies (to hold a can of your preferred choice of beverage) that had their name, address and phone number on. That's Houma for you. Anyway. The receptionist was sort of abrupt, but the nurse and her assistant were so sweet and nice to us. The doctor, Paul Cummings, was so awesome. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain and when he informed me I had an abscess and he'd have to lance it I said "no thank you and you have a nice day," as I was gathering my things to get the eff out of there. He told me he'd treated 3 year olds that were braver than I was at that point. I'm not really one to back down from a statement like that so I stayed. The procedure was done and although it hurt horribly, he was humorous and very gentle throughout the entire thing. I love doctors with a good bedside manner because it really puts my wimpy self at ease and Dr. Cummings had one hell of a great bedside manner. Hopefully you'll never need to visit this place but if you do you're in very good hands.

One star for wait time only because I can't leave it blank…read more When I checked in at the desk there were quite a few people in the waiting area, so, like the others, I sat and waited. To my somewhat relief there were a few people that weren't patients but there waiting for someone who was. BUT, after a long while, I noticed that there was a woman who was called to the back who had checked in AFTER me. First I thought...maybe they take appointments. Then, a few minutes later as I was talking to a couple who I knew and that had checked in about 45 minutes AFTER me, they too were called to the back. That didn't sit very well with me so I went to the desk to ask if i had been forgotten. The receptionist simply replied "you're next". "How can that be" I asked, and she just simply repeated "you're next". No explanation as to why. I said "it's not at all fair" and more than a few people heard me. When I was finally called, I had been waiting for just about 1-1/2 hours. I went to the back and right away the nurse apologized for the error done at the desk. They couldn't explain why either. I went over my medications with the nurse in the computer and told him what I was no longer taking and what I was now taking. That done he put me in a room and assured that the DR. would be here shortly. Would you have thought that I would be in that room for an additional 45 minutes. I certainly didn't. If I had I not been feeling so bad and been there so long; I would have left. Finally Ray Campo, NP walked in and also apologized for the wait. He on the other hand listened to my problem(s) and prescribed the medicines and an injection. When I went back to the front desk, there she was again with a very straight face (she was not apologetic and just asked me if I was alright). I told her I'll be OK. While I was putting my jacket on and waiting for her to collect my fee, she got up from the desk and walked toward the back. The rest of the staff wished me a Merry Christmas from the open door where I could see them all and I bid them the same. With the exception of Ray Campo, NP who treated me, the time there was a complete bumble. This Urgent Care facility is completely understaffed with doctors and/or practitioners, especially weekends and during the cold and flu season. I believe my approximate time there was like 2-1/2 hours or more. That is completely inexcusable for a place called URGENT CARE. Incidentally, I was not charged at check-in time (which I found unusual), and was not charged at check-out, I guess because the receptionist got up and walked to the back, she didn't want to have to face me again. It's alright with me because I left. After getting home and going over the paperwork I noticed that all of the medications I had gone over with the nurse on the computer was still on file. He didn't make any changes at all. This is insane.

When I requested to speak with the on-scene provider, I encountered the same dismissive response, along with an inaccurate readback of my symptoms.
