I'm not sure why, but I went to bed with a little boo-boo and woke up with a huge and painful swollen hand. As soon as I saw it I was certain I'd have to go to the emergency room but my hand hurt so much I couldn't even drive. My sister drove me to Coastal Urgent Care. When I first walked in the first thing that struck me was how new and clean it looked. The second thing that I am still laughing about is that they had complimentary camouflage koozies (to hold a can of your preferred choice of beverage) that had their name, address and phone number on. That's Houma for you. Anyway. The receptionist was sort of abrupt, but the nurse and her assistant were so sweet and nice to us. The doctor, Paul Cummings, was so awesome. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain and when he informed me I had an abscess and he'd have to lance it I said "no thank you and you have a nice day," as I was gathering my things to get the eff out of there. He told me he'd treated 3 year olds that were braver than I was at that point. I'm not really one to back down from a statement like that so I stayed. The procedure was done and although it hurt horribly, he was humorous and very gentle throughout the entire thing. I love doctors with a good bedside manner because it really puts my wimpy self at ease and Dr. Cummings had one hell of a great bedside manner. Hopefully you'll never need to visit this place but if you do you're in very good hands.

Upon arrival, I was told I might not be seen because they were backed up, and that someone would let me know. I waited 25 minutes with no follow-up and no one at the front desk. In severe pain, I knocked and asked another staff member if I could be seen. I was told yes -- but the front desk clerk couldn't check me in because she was busy giving another patient an X-ray. After another 30 minutes, I was finally informed of a $50 copay. I asked why that was required, as I have never had to pay copays before, and I was met with nothing but rudeness, dismissiveness, and nasty body language that was just so uncalled for. The lack of communication, compassion, and basic professionalism here is unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to seek care elsewhere.

I wish I could split this review as I have been to this urgent care many times and have always had…read morea positive experience with both the staff and the doctors. In fact they were more than accomodating on several occasions with treating my condition since I couldn't get an appointment with my primary doctor. Again Dr's and staff are great. Now comes the negative part their business/accounting office SUCKS. Prior to seeing the doctor your copay is taken at the reception area. On ALL occasions my co pay was payed prior to me even being called in. I received a bill from a year prior which I had paid. The bill was dated for early 2024 and I went back and noticed that I payed the bill, they had No recollection of receiving payment. This has happended to me TWICE. Fast forward to currently.....received a phone call on a Saturday (9/27/25) from the business office...this is how the conversation went. I answered the phone and she stated her name and asked me my name and date of birth which I gave her she asked me again my name and dob and asked what my address was since she wanted to send me a bill. I asked her what address she had on file and she did not answer me she said I need your address. It was at this point that I indicated to her that I had spoken to a prior representative and had given her an update on my address in August 2025 regarding this mixup on my bill. The prior representative was great and understood, this representative was rude......I proceeded to tell her that I had no intentions of paying this bill on two counts....it had been paid and it had taken them over a year to send me a bill. Take all this into account that after the date of the bill in question I had 3 more visits to this urgent care with no problems regarding my payments or bill expect one other time again which was later resolved due to their untimely updating my account. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GET DOUBLE RECEPITS AS THEIR BUSINESS OFFICE IS LESS THAN PROFESSIONAL.
