This was frustrating because I have used the same insurance multiple times at In & Out Urgent Care on Labarre Road without any issues. The front desk employee even requested my Social Security number in an attempt to locate my insurance information, but they still claimed they could not find it. When I offered to pay out of pocket so I could still be seen, the doctor appeared uninterested in helping me and gave me the impression that they wanted me to leave. Since the clinic was closing in about an hour, it felt like they were looking for a reason not to see me. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. The lack of effort to find a solution and the poor customer service left me feeling dismissed and uncared for.

Upon arrival, I was told I might not be seen because they were backed up, and that someone would let me know. I waited 25 minutes with no follow-up and no one at the front desk. In severe pain, I knocked and asked another staff member if I could be seen. I was told yes -- but the front desk clerk couldn't check me in because she was busy giving another patient an X-ray. After another 30 minutes, I was finally informed of a $50 copay. I asked why that was required, as I have never had to pay copays before, and I was met with nothing but rudeness, dismissiveness, and nasty body language that was just so uncalled for. The lack of communication, compassion, and basic professionalism here is unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to seek care elsewhere.

I called the call center after a few hours and they said there were six people in front of me. I started to wonder if the receptionist was dropping my name on the list, for what reason, I'll never know. After 3 hours I called and explained that I thought my name was being dropped down the list (there were 5 people in-front of me at this point). The call center connected me with my receptionist friend and she said there was only 1 person in-front of me now. Wow, how did that happen? I arrived at 2pm and did not make it to the back until 5pm and I was done around 7. It was a long day that I wished I was in bed, but I'm glad I went. Once I left the reception area, each person was nicer than the next. They gave me a breathing treatment, antibiotics for bronchitis that lasted 3 weeks, and an inhaler to get me through the wheezing. I completed an online appointment request and a NOLA Doc nurse promptly contacted my wife by phone early the next morning. An appointment with Dr. Berenson was made for 9:00 AM and he was right on time. He spent approximately 45 minutes speaking with my wife and getting to the root of the problem. Dr. Berenson was calming and at no point did my wife feel rushed. He provided much useful information and he patiently answered every question. He provided two prescriptions for pickup at a nearby pharmacy and even offered to speak to our primary care physician back home if required. Dr. Berenson was comforting and effective during a frightening time far from home. I highly recommend him.
