Lago Mar Lagoon or Lagoonfest during the summer is definitely overhyped on social media. On an ordinary day, it's a glorified residential pool with a beach vibe, including sand that has been brought in. However, in the summer, it opens to the general public for an admission fee and has summer concerts, food vendors, and a plethora of all the water sports/activities. Residents get about a quarter of the lagoon, while the remaining three-quarters belong to the general public. On the general public side, you can rent SUPs, clear kayaks, spend time on the water obstacle courses, and take a boat ride around the lagoon. Inflatables are allowed, but only foam-based ones; no bringing your own unless they meet that rule. Unfortunately, since Lago Mar Lagoon is such a family friendly place, you know darn well you haven't left the country to somewhere exotic with the amount of screaming and running you'll witness. If you hear a whistle every few hours, it means the pool is being cleaned and everyone must get out of the pool until it's cleared for re-entry. read more

It's been closed for 8 months. The lagoon is empty. Homeowners in the community are still paying HOA fees but have no access to the lagoon.

This is my speed of chill. Look, clear water without the nasty salt, plenty of chairs, shallow water and life guards everything... No anxiety for this mom! My son liked it although he would have loved for there to be waves and deeper water, ya know the anxiety stuff.. The inflatable obstacles were fun but it's an additional charge. The Titan slide was really cool.. But beware and ready to bare... Better adjust yo self before you stand up. I got to moving so fast down that slide my swimsuit britches disappeared . But worth the wedgie! My son loved the pizza and the folks were very nice and helpful. read more

We rented two cabanas our server Morgan, was so helpful and checked in on us constantly. The people that gave us our bracelets were very friendly. Our children enjoyed the pool and obstacle course! There were plenty places to sit when getting there early enough. The only thing was that they didn't have showers in the restroom. Other than that, great time! read more

My family and I decided to try this spot out on Memorial Day which was probably our first mistake. As the parking lot isn't finished yet we had to park several blocks away and catch a shuttle to be dropped off at the front door. The parking attendants and drivers were the most pleasant and organized part of my experience. Our bus driver greeted us upon us getting on the shuttle while jamming some of my favorite 90's music which made the heat less hot...if you will. Once we reached the security area our belongings were searched and our wristbands were offered promptly. Our group reserved Pavilion H along with 2 sets of lounge chairs that based on the map should have sat directly in front of the pavilion. That however was not the case. As they were sold out...all loungers were rearranged to make room for more thus rendering our loungers far and away from Pavilion H. The CS manager explained that he could move them closer but once we found #23 & #25 loungers they were already occupied by a family that refused to move. Although a sign is listed that the loungers are to be rented the family said they were told they were free and caused a scene when made to move. How does one get upset that they are asked to move from loungers that we paid almost $70 per pair for? Another issue arose once the downpour of rain started. Although most of us were wet from being in the water as soon as the rain started our pavilion quickly became overly occupied by the people running from rain. I completely understand that no one likes to be rained on however these people were NOT invited by us to swarm our pavilion while we wait out the rain. At one point the entire pavilion was taken over by uninvited guests or the too lazy people to walk 10 more steps around our group. As the pavilion is a paid addition to the entry fee, it blew my mind that we spent so much money to enjoy those comforts while other guests felt so comfortable attempting to take over. Overall the customer service team made effort to assist with all the issues but IMO they were so young that the other guests really didn't care much about their authority. This was a bunch of people doing what they wanted regardless of the rules or what management asked of them. I do not recommend this place for a family on a budget. All rides, slides and activities consist of an additional fee. Outside food isn't welcome but food trucks are available at an extra cost of course. The bar serves $20 drinks that are mainly juice and ice. This place could really be something but they have a lot of work to do before I'd be willing to return. It wasn't the worst but a trip to the local pool probably would have been the better choice. read more

It pains me to give a review so low but with all the hoops that were jumped through to pull off a trip to Lagoonfest it has to be done after the service we received. I live in Dallas and my family came in town from Seattle for a birthday and we decided to make the 4 hour trip down to lagoonfest as something fun to do during their stay. There had been some canceled flights and rebooking and finally they made it to town. The party was had and on Sunday we set sail early morning to Houston. We stopped and had an amazing brunch and weren't a 100% sure weather would allow us to make it to Lago Mar but during brunch decided to keep going as we only had one hour left of the four hour drive to get there. Upon arrival we noticed the parking lot wasn't extremely crowded and made our way inside. We surpassed bag check and the window to get our wristbands and stopped at the cabana station. We were told we'd be able to select a cabana as there were many open (keep that in mind). So we went on to guest services and were allowed to pick our cabana and chose something a little removed from the shore because we had small children and didn't want them right up on the water but still close enough for the beachfront and water to be within reach. We were told after being seated that the guest services attendees would try to go find us a nice server (his words not mine) and they would come and bring us ice and water and take our order and that there should've a been a menu at our cabana but there wasn't one. An hour later there was no server and no menu, so we went back to guest services and the scrambled around talked to a few servers and said someone would be coming. 13 minutes later someone came and was really apologetic and said guest services was supposed to let them know when someone checks in. She asked to take our order we informed her we didn't have a menu and she went to retrieve one and said it would be easiest for us to text her instead of just waiting for her to come back because the area we were in wasn't her service area and she had other tables. I then let her see my phone so she could input her own number and she called herself we had a brief discussion about neither of us being from the area. Almost immediately after her walking away we texted her to order. After 15 minutes of no acknowledgement we went to the cabana window and asked to speak with a manager. We explained the situation to a girl who said she was the manager and told her at this point we didn't need the server because we were already up in the food area and could just get our own food and drinks and her response was "I'll go get your server". She went to retrieved the server who then showed me her phone and that she didn't have a text and asked "did I have the right number" even though she inputted her own number in my phone and called herself and wanted to see my phone to ensure the number was right. It gets better, I asked for a refund for the cabana but prior to going back to retrieve the card we figured we'd get our food and drinks since we were already up. And while waiting for the food the manager, a male not the one who I initially spoke to when asking for a manager, came and said they aren't able to refund the cabanas and in exchange wanted to get us taken care of so he would refund the food we just purchase and get us a couple drinks as if that was going to shut us up. He did tell us that we would have the same server. We took our food back to the cabana he gave 4 out of our party of 8 drink, just the adults not the kids. We never saw him or a server again the rest of the trip. The food he refunded because we had already paid was $63, drink like $60, and the cabana was $348. The whole cabana ordeal was ridiculous and made it a horrible experience. The kids enjoyed the water but were starving. The worst part is two of the people in our party have a heat and sun allergy, which is controllable if hydrated and out of direct sunlight, so the cabana wasn't optional for us we needed one it's just unfortunate that the experience was so bad. So listen to the terrible reviews you see on TikTok and social media, they're true. read more

Love, love, LOVE this place!! Visited with a resident, and ended up planning and having my 50th birthday party at the lagoon! We had originally planned on having a big party in Galveston on the beach, but Lago Mar is not only closer to Houston, but it's WAYYYY cleaner! I have a thing about not being able to see my feet in the water...the water at the lagoon is CRYSTAL clear! Not to mention there are no rip currents, parking is a LOT easier AND we were able to rent a pavilion and cabana RIGHT by the white sand and water!! It seriously felt like we were in Cozumel! We actually caught the tail-end of a wedding on the opposite side of the lagoon, and witnessed the bride and groom jumping into the water in FULL DRESS!! Amazing lol. Unless you're trying to spend heaps of cash with little fun, I wouldn't recommend it. We had already purchased our tickets online and it took us damn near 25 minutes to check in because the kid at the front desk didn't count money right for the people before us. He was freaking out and acting highly frantic about it. Cussing left and right in front of my kids. The bartenders are all freshly 18 who have no idea how to pour a drink, so if you wanna spend $18 on a watered down beverage this is the place. it was "a little windy" so we couldn't put up our umbrella for the $60 beach chairs we rented. Staff is just plain rude. After you've spent money to get in you have to spend money to do ANYTHING on the water. Kayaks or the "aquatic sports" you literally gotta drop so much money. This is our second time going, first time was lagoon fest last year which was great besides the drinks and food, and the second time was far from that. The "guest" section was a joke. You have to pay for everything you want to do, even just to grab 2 beach chairs was $60. They have food trucks and a concession stand, those prices are insane with the quality of food they serve. The drinks are very watered down and cost $18. "Residents" side is very big and spacious compared to the 40 foot stretch of roped off beach that the "guest" side gets to enjoy. I understand it's mostly for the residents, but if you are advertising the guest side on every social media site you could at least make it more accommodating for the guests who come the 2 days that it is open to the pubic. Honestly for the amount of money spent, schlitterbahn is a way better option. P.S. if you ar planning on going make sure you call before hand and see what activities are available that day as not everything will be open everyday. Their website is not user friendly and doohelp you at all if you have questions. I tried calling 2 weeks ago to get 8 tickets AND a cabana for the day. Left 2 messages asto why I was calling and asked for a return call. NOTHING! Here it is 2 weeks later and I've tried again on website and by calling to ask for help. 2 TIMES! Still no response. This is for a special day for my 16 yr old granddaughter. I am so frustrated and aggravated I don't know what to do. But if it weren't for my granddaughter even though it's a beautiful place that even I would like to visit I would No recommend for lack of service to customers and just not caring.
