Just got my ass kicked in the best way possible, what a workout!! Luckily I had attended 1-2 classes elsewhere on the megaformer so it wasn't completely foreign to me, otherwise I would've left after a few minutes. The studio is clear about this being one of the toughest workouts in LA and on ClassPass and I believe them. You will not be lifting enormous weights or dragging tires but I'd love to see so brawny characters attempting the balanced and refined movements you get from working on these machines with their adjustable spring loaded tension. It's one of those workouts where you stay in one spot, are extremely focused the whole time and the sweat is dripping off you. They say this class/studio is not for people who are beginners to working out and I agree. I was familiar with the machine and some of the movements and also felt comfortable modifying when I knew my form would suffer if I continued. The instructor allowed me to modify and also encouraged me to get back in there at a level that I appreciated, I need a little push sometime! This is an excellent studio if you want to lengthen and sculpt your body I am so glad I tried it and will definitely be back. read more

I've done lagree for several years and I took a bit of a break. This place is literally how Lagree himself would teach it. It's intense, challenging, and you'll be dripping in sweat. It's a great workout. The space is super small but damn. It kicked my ass. Can't wait to go back. If you're newer don't let the reformer intimidate you- just get there early and get a sense of the machine. read more

This review is long overdue! I am so grateful for Lagree Underground as I have gone from FLAB to FAB in just under 5 months! My body continues to get stronger and change with every workout! Doesn't matter how fit or out of shape you are... after 45 minutes of Lagree, you'll be VERY proud of yourself! I remember the day after my first class, I woke up and it felt like I was hit by a truck! I realized so many of my muscles had never been strengthened by my previous cardio/lifting workout routines. I kept coming back each week and it quickly strengthened my core and muscles. I tried Lagree classes in NYC, Toronto, Vegas, and Chicago .... and NONE of them have the high quality instructors that teach at Lagree Underground. Mikael and Noelle are INCREDIBLE! I have learned so much about exercising effectively from them. I apply all of their tips/knowledge of proper form when I exercise outside of Lagree on business trips. They genuinely care about correct FORM and both take the time (as many times as needed) to readjust your body position and all while explaining WHY you must hold a certain position in a certain way (to prevent injury etc). This workout is NOT for people looking to sit around and do nothing...! Also, I see many 1 star reviews here from people who SHOWED UP LATE for their intro session and were not allowed to join the class. First class ever and Michelle gave me a proficient break down of the class before hand. Arrive early cause if you're ok time you're late loll. I used muscles I have never awaken before, broke more than a sweat, and my body appreciated every movement. 10/10 recommend. read more

The best Lagree studio I've ever been to. The location is convenient and easy to find. Inside is welcoming and makes you excited and inspired to push yourself. The mega reformers are in great condition and you'll leave with the best workout you've ever had. Mikael is welcoming and kind, and Noelle is the best trainer ever. Her classes are the perfect balance of tough but leaves you so excited to come back. She has such great energy and really pushes you to build on your progress. Without a doubt the BEST studio and owner/ master trainer Mikail not only in Los Angeles but I have lived in all major cities around the world and no one comes close. This is the best workout anyone can do for their body it's incredible how quickly you become strong and it never gets any easier especially with Mikhail making sure of that. I remember my first class thinking how will I ever be able to do this? Within 2 weeks of going constantly my strength built quickly. Form is checked constantly and the body shake afterwards keeps humming away for hours. The studio itself is great with mirrors on both sides and the regulars are serious and totally get Mikhail and love him for it. Noelle is one of Mikails trainers who is also awesome. The first time I ever got on a mega was in St. Louis and I was immediately hooked. However, I wanted to come back to my home state for my clinical rotations so I had to leave my main studio behind. I figured that since Lagree was based in CA, there must be a ton of studios that I could check out. I was very excited to see that my airbnb is within walking distance of one. The last time I worked out consistently on the mega was probably in June. Since then, I've been on and off and it's really sad to see how quickly the body gets deconditioned. I've basically turned back into mush. I used to be able to hold planks and make it through an entire class. Fortunately, Mike (the owner) was very supportive and never shamed me for taking multiple rest breaks. He's pleasant and will adjust you throughout the session so that you get the most out of it while maintaining proper alignment. His studio is actually one of the nicest ones I've experienced. Machines are well-spaced out and maintained, plus his music is legit. There are currently 8 machines, but he'll be adding more shortly. Classes are 45 minutes long and the first class was only $10! A steal! There's other specials for newbies too, like one week unlimited for $49 and one month unlimited for $149. Regular pricing is probably reasonable for LA, but I'm on a student budget and my broke self can't justify non-promo prices (read: getting my clinical training as a health provider but working for freeeee). With that said, if you are NOT living my broke student lifestyle, then you should give Lagree Underground a shot. At least check out the first class. Like I said, it's only $10 and you can treat yourself after you survive the class. My only mini gripe is that the classes that pop up on MindBody don't match the times on the flyer. It seems like there's quite a few missing times throughout the week when I compare the two. Unfortunately, these schedule modifications make it harder for me to make a class due to my work schedule. We all know that the Lagree Fitness method is capable of transforming your body. I quickly learned that Lagree Underground in West Hollywood is THE BEST Lagree studio in all of SoCal to achieve that. In a city filled with so many below average fitness studios, LU is head-and-shoulders above the rest. When I called Mikael, the owner and Master Trainer, he spent well over a half hour with me, patiently answering all my questions. This was post-COVID and I hadn't worked out in years so I had concerns. He explained his teaching approach and method and assured me, if I consistently put in the time, I would see results quite quickly. In that conversation he also encouraged me to shop around and look at other Lagree studios. His confidence paired with his willingness to lose my business on the spot, told me he knew his stuff and that he believed his studio was THE BEST place in LA to do Lagree fitness. He was absolutely right about that. It really is. I started small and built from there, only doing one class week to start. Not going to lie, it was hard as hell. Soon, though, by sticking with it and being consistent, one day became two and then three, which soon turned into four, then five and I finally settled into six days a week. To say I love doing Lagree fitness at LU is an understatement. Mikael and his instructors have truly changed my life. Through Mikael's classes, I proceeded to lose 60 lbs. and gained so much muscle and definition that it's completely changed my body composition. I went from a size 16-18 to a size 6. Mikael has successfully built a team of certified, highly trained and experienced instructors who motivate and inspire you in every class. Noelle is one stand-out trainer whose classes do not disappoint. They will challenge you 100% but the results you'll see are worth it. Her extensive experience in fitness combined with her positive and supportive approach to teaching are why her classes are always full. She's a total pro. ALL the instructors believe that proper form is key, above all else, to avoid injury and get results. They're all generous with their time and give the attention and correction you need during class, in order to ensure you get the moves down right. It's the equivalent of personal training and I certainly needed lots of correction in those early days. While the fitness gains have been so rewarding, what's truly amazing and most surprising, is the community of support and friends I've gained in the process. In a city like LA, most people have blinders on and are focused on themselves. It's not always easy to make connections here. It couldn't be more opposite at LU. Never did I think I was walking into such a community of welcoming, super cool people. Beautiful people whose daily support and smiles contribute so much in the way of you showing up and being consistent and accountable with your fitness goals. You're not just working out but you're working out with friends. This is the incredible community Mikael, along with his team of winning instructors, has built. Yes, there are a few rules. You have to be on time, wear grippy socks and not use your cell phone for 45 minutes during class but is that really that hard? I'm so glad I called the studio that day, forever grateful Mikael picked up and happy, as scared as I was back then, that I took that first step towards better health and fitness. It's never easy getting back into shape but with an inspiring, fun and supportive studio like Lagree Underground, that, and so much more, can be achieved. I don't need a pair of socks, but I'm writing this review because Lagree Underground is no joke, no BS Pilate studio that consistently challenges you-every single class. I haven't been doing Pilates that long, coming up on a year and half and Lagree Underground has changed my body completely. I'm stronger, lean, toned and I never knew I had the strength I did until I joined Lagree. Mikael and the rest of his team are experts in the game and there's nothing like this studio- small, clean and you know you're going to get your ass kicked for 45 mins each time you go. I've gone back over and over even though I feel defeated every time from the physicality of the class, I consistently go back because of how healthy I feel. It's worth the money, the drive- I'm coming through the canyon every morning and how strong I feel. Can't rave about it enough!! If you want a great workout, this is the place! They teach the Lagree method here, obviously because it's right in their name, and it will whip you into shape! Core, legs and arms - total body. I've been a pilates practitioner and competitive cyclist for many years. This is the toughest workout I've EVER done. The team at LU are the best. Their workouts are brutal and after more than 6 months at it, I still struggle. But I'm so much stronger for everything I do in life (sports or otherwise). Best workout class ever. Mikael, Lucas and Noelle are great instructors and are extremely knowledgeable on the Lagree method. I have been coming to Lagree Underground for about 9 months now and I have never felt stronger. The classes are very challenging and it can be tricky at first, but after a few sessions you will feel more confident in your ability to get through a class. I appreciate Mikael's expert knowledge on Lagree, he really ensures that you have correct form which is extremely important. All of the bad reviews on here are from people who show up late to class. Show up on time for your first class as the instructor will explain how to use the machine. The instructors care about your safety and are strict on this rule. Mikael was very rude to me yesterday. No business owner should speak to someone in the way that he did to me. He clearly doesn't like people who are poor and use class pass and he greeted me with hate after I had driven to the studio well over the suggested 10 minute ahead of class time. There was no parking for less than an 8 minute walk and that's why I walked into the class at the starting time of class. I ran to the class and got there at the time it was supposed to start and I was about to cry because he humiliated me in front of the class told me to go not come back and threw a sign at me. This is not a workout this is like the military. A business owner with a heart or not a macho ego would have said I'm sorry you had an issue parking can I reschedule you for the next one but instead he embarrasses me in the class and then when I got home and wrote a review he begins to fight with me on the internet. I've taken hundreds of workout glasses and am an instructor at a yoga studio myself and I have never in my life seen someone who is there to teach others act so superior to people who are coming to learn from him, he just wants to show off how much better he is. He even calls himself a master in the website. At first I thought that was because he was so talented and someone i have been waiting to learn from but now I get the vibe it's because he wants to put himself on a pedestal above people like me. I was so excited to try this class yesterday and he completely made me feel so uncomfortable and so little that I can never come back around that place. He is the type of guy that would rather be right and to make anyone else feel bad then to take one second to be compassionate toward another. They really should re write on the description you need much more than 5-10 minutes early for parking that Uber is recommended. He bullied me on a review told me I'm an entitled ClassPass snob and said that he only got mean to me and told me it's perfect if I don't come back. He then played victim and called me a racist to get the review taken down. He's knew from the start he wasn't making money off of my class pass visit so he treated me with disrespect. I have many friends who work with his company and have been telling me for years to come take his class personally and I was very much looking forward to learning from Mikael but I would never what to support a business which zero compassion. If you don't want people in the door when the class starts at 9:15 then maybe just lock the door like the yoga studios do so they can get the point and you can speak to them like a mature adult later. Recently did a class with a really good friend and was lied to. THIS IS NOT PILATES!! It will def kick your butt. Jess is a liar, but i did appreciate her making me go and enjoy the challenge.... which i failed. Noelle was the instructor and a complete sweetheart. She made me feel welcomed and not embaressed at all. Im happy my first class was w her and made me feel comfortable throughout. She took the time and sooooo much patience with me. This review is way overdue. Lagree underground is without question the best lagree megaformer studio in LA. Both Mikael and Luke give killer classes with a laid back chill vibe that other studios don't offer. I am very conscious these days of where I choose to spend my hard earned money and I am glad to support this business especially since they have provided me a place of normalcy and escape over the last two years. I previously went to Studio MDR but all the good instructors left and the management and vibe is very pretentious and against everything I believe in. Mikael and Luke are both very conscious of good form and their classes are always very well planned out. It is much more strength training oriented than other lagree studios out there. First time people should arrive early for a run through of the machine. They don't appreciate late arrivals especially for new students because then they have to delay the beginning of class and it is a disservice to everyone else who has signed up. I appreciate their approach to this as I am extremely punctual. All in all, as long as I live and work in this sewer of a city, I'll be coming back to underground for my lagree fix. read more

Full disclosure, I wasn't entirely sold on Mikael (the owner and master trainer) upon meeting. Now being part of a friendly, motivated and diverse community he's attracted, I realize that he really cares about quality and is by the book - in terms of form, getting results, protocols/safety... It's refreshing. Yes, that characteristic will bother disgruntled newbies that show up 10 mins late after class has started (versus 10-15 min early stipulated to get the safety rundown) whom Mikael does not permit to jump in blind for their own sake and for the sake of not disrupting class for the majority. One has to manage one's disappointment and take accountability in these matters. (A majority of newbies I've seen are valiant!). Yes, he's a stickler but under the slightly Viking exterior is a sweetheart. Saying that, he's also a stickler for form. I am also an expert in Pilates (STOTT, Lagree qualified) though I'm not a practitioner. I come to these classes due to the fact I need high quality consistency of teaching (I don't want to waste precious time to attend class and get a 'dud' teacher) - I care about form and am results driven - maximum results in minimum time. All the instructors here deliver a consistently good class - no one dials it in or are unengaged and there's a level of compassion for ranges of ability. The studio is good looking, clean, the megaformers spaced out and, uniquely, you get full side view of your form - this has helped immensely form wise, improving results and mitigating injury. Bonus: rates are super reasonable comparatively. BTW, my husband loves it - not just because of his abs/results but a nice mix of men and women! read more

I've been going to Lagree Underground for years and not only is it the hardest/best class in LA but Mikael is among the best trainers I've ever had. He knows the method so well and teaches it in a very detailed manor so that everyone is doing the movements correctly. He will, at times, correct form (always explaining why) to make sure we are doing the exercise correctly and not at risk of injury. He is NEVER inappropriate. He does, however, expect the same respect he gives his students so if you come late you won't be let in. If you are on your phone during class he will ask you to leave the floor to not disrupt others. Those are the only requirements he has and should really be common sense. However, there are always those people who think the world revolves around them, and therefore feel the need to write something negative seeking attention. If you are really interested in a challenging workout then I highly recommend Lagree Underground. Mikael is amazing but so are the other trainers there...especially Noelle and Jona. read more
