Dr. Chang is the first pain management doctor who took the time to see beyond my looks and into how my life has dramatically changed while dealing with excruciating, chronic pain. Dr. Chang gave me something that I had lost a long time ago and that was hope. He showed me my scans and not only explained what we were looking at but then pointed and pressed on the corresponding areas of my body to teach me why I'm having the pain in these areas. Dr. Chang understands the effects that long term, chronic pain can have not only on a persons body but their mental state as well. He attacks the issue of chronic pain from all sides instead of just writing more prescriptions for the physical symptoms. I don't normally write these reviews but after seeing over 25 doctors in the last 3 years for this issue and not gaining much ground against the problem I have to applaud Dr. Chang. He takes the time to let you know all the different ways chronic pain can effect your life and explain in understandable detail the different coping mechanisms that we can use to fight this. Since the beginning of this year, I have been trying to schedule an appointment. Instead of helping me move forward, the assistant told me that Dr. Holamandara would not see me until I had an MRI. She instructed me to ask my primary care physician to order it. That made no sense because the specialist is the one requesting the MRI and should be responsible for providing the appropriate referral or coordinating the necessary steps. Because I had previously seen Dr. Pativanda for the same condition, I was then told that they would contact Dr. Pativanda's office to request the MRI referral. That was over four months ago. Since then, I have called both offices every couple of weeks asking for an update. Dr. Holamandara's office and Dr. Pativanda's office are located directly across from each other in the same building, yet no one seems able to communicate or provide answers. Neither office has followed up with me, returned my calls with a solution, or taken ownership of resolving the issue. The lack of communication, coordination, and accountability has delayed my medical care for months. As a patient, I should not have to spend months chasing down referrals and repeatedly calling multiple offices just to get a simple answer. Patients deserve timely communication, clear guidance, and staff who are willing to help instead of passing responsibility to someone else. I hope this office improves its patient care and communication because no one seeking medical treatment should have to go through this experience.

She was always available to answer my questions, walked me through every step, and even provided helpful videos explaining what to expect before and after surgery.
