This is a great place to spend a hot afternoon in Lahaina. One of the few free air conditioned places you can find in fact. Plus there is plenty of free and easy parking. It is true that it is on the quiet side with a few empty stores, but the stores, places to eat, and activities they do have here are great! There are some great deals to be found here as well. Shopping wise we love Jeans Wear House. They have great deals on women and teen girls clothing. My daughters could spend hours here browsing, and come out with a new outfit for under $20 if they do it right. There is also a great toy store we visit quite often, a vitamin shop, a bathing suit store with the best selection in Lahaina in one spot for suits for women and kids, an ABC store, a few more clothing stores, a souvenir store, and a store called Banana Wind where I could spend hours browsing their shell collections, and super beachy and fun house decor and jewelry. Food wise my favorite place to eat in the food court is Bale which is super yummy Vietnamese food place with an extensive vegetarian menu. (Please see my review on them for more details.) There is also an L&L BBQ serving up a mixture of Hawaiian style and Chinese style food along with some cheeseburgers and fries as well. Then there is a great little Mexican place which has all the staples along with curly fries and other unexpected but yummy menu items. If you are looking for dessert this is where the only Dairy Queen on the west side is located. Always a good place for a milk shake, dilly bar, ice cream cone, or even ice cream cakes. As for the entertainment that can depend on the day of the week, but they have it all from hula shows at 1pm on the weekends to magic acts, ukulele lessons, ice carving contests, cultural festivals, trick or treating on Halloween, and much more. All of which are free. They have a calendar of activities on their website. On top of all they offer today this place is also a historical spot that was once in fact a pineapple cannery. There is a lot of history that can be learned about this special place. If you have a lazy afternoon or need to escape the heat I highly recommend you give this place a fair try. read more

Tourist not a Local Review Lahaina Cannery Mall does not have a lot of stores. Majority stores they do have are over priced and boring. I never saw anything in any of their stores that I had to have but a $15 Aloha Straw Hat in the ABC Store and Long Drugs is also reasonable. ABC Store and Longs best store in the mall. Longs drugstore has good alcohol prices and you can use your CVS card to get discounted prices. It's ok for something to do if you want to walk around and kill time. They had a Starbucks so that helped with the boredom of the mall. They are remodeling so maybe this mall will be better in the future. read more

This mall seems like a ghost town especially in the food court area. We went here because it is very close to a nearby luau. We did enjoy shopping at the abc store here who had a good selection of apparel and souvenirs. However, the mall itself definitely needs a lot of help with vacancies! read more

I came across this small mall cycling back and forth from Lahaina to Kaanapali ~ it had everything I needed as a tourist ~ however, I can see it getting 2 thumbs down from the masses. Pros: kind of in the middle of everything in the Kaanapali area, a Safeway, Longs Drugs, Starbucks. Public bathrooms, food court, arctic air conditioning and large parking lot. Signs said there were Hula performances and other cultural events scheduled there regularly. Cons: quite out-dated overall, semi-mediocre stores than have the same stuff as every other gift store in Maui. Food court was very small, odd selection of food outlets, only 2 kiosks open out of 4 when I was there. Mall was eerily empty every time I came in, which was every day at different times of the day. As a tourist cycling and touring around Lahaina~ the drug store, Safeway, public washrooms and Starbucks suited my needs just fine. Cannery Mall is a halfway stop to Lahaina and the air-con was a welcome relief in the summer heat. Sept '17 there were signs posted they were doing a major overhaul/renovation of this Mall ~ maybe that would bring more people and business here. Still, I was happy to frequent this Mall on my vacation and will definitely stop by on my next trip to Maui. read more

I could see why this mall might be a disappointment for some. It is pretty low-key and bit folksy, there is no major retail anchor store, and the food court is a week bit lacking. That said, it is not crowded, there are some good stores for HI items, and it is enclosed with air-conditioned. There are entertainment options that are endearing: kids hula show, ukulele lessons, etc. There is also a Safeway, Longs, and Starbucks, so some very basic options. At the end of the day, this is a relaxing indoor mall where people will find much non-designer, but very HI-useful items. read more

i come here at least once a trip to maui just to get goodies and things to take back to the mainland but I think most peeps prefer Whalers village. This mall is nice for filling in the gaps in things you need to grab that you may have forgotten to get and dont have time to go elsewhere. I do not like to shop. We have many of the top department stores and malls in the Metro NYC area. So when I go on vacation I really do not care to see the same exact stores which is usually the case. But not here. I actually enjoyed shopping here. First of all there is a 24 hour Safe Way. It is a grocery store with everything. There is a Long's Drug store which has literally everything you could possibly need while on Maui and also an ABC store. http://www.abcstores.com/about.htm We ended up going there almost every night for batteries for the camera , Hawaiian Apple Bananas , a variety of things. I bought this cute silk Hawaiian print sarong and top for a luau here. I like the kitschy Hawaiiana you can get at the specialty stores as well. The mall is small and charming just as I would expect it to be on Maui. It is not NYC and I am glad those huge chains have not made it to this mall yet. You will end up here. Safeway, Longs, essentials. But there is also a wanton display of knick knacks and consumerables. Consumables to be sure.... I don't know what it is... I know it's tourist trap shirt and art shops, as well as a place where locals have to go to get stuff. So it is an interesting cross section of people, and at the very least it's fun to people watch while you are stuck there with those eager to traipse around the stores with slackjawed grins. It's just a mall, but the 4th star is because it means I am on Maui, and I always seem to be pleasantly positive and complimentary when I am in that Island frame of mind. read more

The Cannery Mall is undergoing major renovations, which hopefully will resurrect interest and foot traffic. The Safeway was a God-send for us, as was the ABC Store. We also bought swimwear at one of the specialty shops. We had a great visit, met some very friendly people. But, it was a short visit, as the mall is not very full and the foodcourt is small. Went to the Lahaina Cannery Mall today which is located on Front Street. There are not that many choices of stores to choose from. They have a few places to choose from to eat which are L&L, Bale sandwich and a Mexican restaurant plus . Lulus lahaina. Safeway and Longs drugs are great places to get food and things you need. Also on Sundays they have a hula show in the center of the mall which starts at 1:00 pm. This is am indoor mall. So its nice on a sunny day. read more

It's pretty rare if I ever end up down that side due to lazy to drive that far and dont want to pay for parking (lol). Today seem like one of those days I was bored at home & thought maybe I should check out Lahaina side. It's disappointing to see a mall not doing so hot. I only go there for DQ (blizzard). most of the shops & food places either moved or shut down. They really need to get better shops & food places to get this mall going like the lahaina outlets. Well every single time I have visited Maui......it includes a visit to the Cannery Mall. The mall is definitely catered to locals.....not tourists. I do love the Long's drug store and the ABC store is pretty decent as well. The sad part about this mall is that in all the years I have been coming to Maui nothing about it really changes. It also seems since about 2007 there have been a lot store closings and the lot is always half empty. I still enjoy coming here when I visit and I probably always will especially since there is a Starbucks there with FREE WIFI. I can walk in grab my favorite drink....get a great seat outside and enjoy the peace and tranquility that is MAUI. Eat, Drink, and be Merry my Friends!!!! read more

The mall itself is 3 stars because there aren't that many exciting shops and the food court has only 3 options. But the 1pm hula show on the weekend gets 5 stars!! It's keiki hula or kids hula on the weekends. We first went on Saturday, not knowing what to expect. My 3 year old liked it so much that we went back again on Sunday! We thought it would be the same performers, but we were wrong! The show lasts about 1 hour and its not too crowded, so it's a safe place to take young ones. We used this as a "dry run" for the real luau experience because we didn't want to pay $100 per person only to have my 3 year old say she wants to go home or is too tired to stay up late (gotta factor in the time change)! It worked out perfectly for us! There was no long luau food line to stand in, no nighttime bugs to shoo away, and no hot Maui temperatures to battle (the mall has AC). It was also a bonus that we saw kids hula because it made her more interested in watching. If you have young ones and are on the fence about taking them to a real luau, you should come check this place out! read more

This is a small little strip mall. It has abc store, safeway, Mexican restaurant and few clothing stores. On Sat and Sunday they have free hula dances at 1pm. For small gift items, perfect place to stop over. read more

I don't get all the negative attitude on this mall. Yes stores are struggling, but have you looked around your hometown lately? Lots of places are suffering. Besides a great Safeway Supermarket and Long's (now CVS) there are some nice places to eat in the food court like Edo Japan, Ba-Le and Tacos SuperMex. This is really a sleepy little mall - nothing special, but worth checking out. Several of the store fronts are peddling tourist related crap, but what would you expect. They do have a few anchor stores that make this location worth walking. The food court has a decent selection, so go with a appetite. If you are looking for cool t-shirts, they have a HIC (Hawaiian Island Creations) surf shop. They have some sweet designs that are easily distinguished from the typical tourist shirts, but they do cost $25+, but cool, is cool. If you are looking to kill a good hour, this is not a bad place to do it, but it's far from the new/modern malls you might have back on the mainland. Lahaina Cannery Mall is located near Aston Mahana condo resort and features a number of stores, on the grocery side Safeway and Longs Drugs, so you can always top up anything that ran short from Costco if you are here for a week or two. It also has some restaurants and shops to purchase apparel, gift items etc, it features a very large parking lot, so you will have no trouble whatsoever finding a space. In the months of June and July they feature Hawaiian Luau shows, weekends at 7pm and weekdays at 4pm Definitely worth stopping by. 4 stars read more

What a total waste of time. The same things over and over from store to store - made in china souvenirs and apparel. The only thing worth your time is the Banana Wind shop. It's not local goods either, but at least has an impressive assortment of unique items from around the world. The shop employees are friendly. And yes there are Safeway and Long's anchor stores, as well as Honolua, but those can all be found elsewhere on the island, so nothing unique here. It has a food court but there are so many better options on Front St or just about anywhere else you could name, I don't understand why anyone would choose to eat here. For more worthy local shopping, go over to Paia. Skip it unless you are desperate. read more

I love this place. It should say a lot that I reviewed 4 places in this same shopping center, not to mention the fact that we went here 6 times on our trip. This place is great, especially if you want to avoid the craziness of Lahaina. There is pretty much everything you need. Longs drugs and ABC store for all your souvenir needs. Safeway and Longs drugs for all your food needs. Borders Express for local music or beach lounging books. The food court for a variety of food options for a quicker and still healthy food choice. And then there are lots of other little stores that you can check out for clothes, gifts, jewelry, etc. Another great tid bit about this mall is that there is live entertainment here. They have hula/polynesian dance and singing shows here Tues, Thurs and Sat and Sun. We just happened to catch the saturday show and were pleasantly surprised. The show started with 4 hawaiian guys singing in the harmonizing boy style. They were actually very good. After a few songs, the dancers came out and did some Tahitian dancing. The kids were great. We just loved it. We did not stay for the whole thing, but got to check out a few of the dances. I am not saying you should sacrifice all your beach time and hang out at the mall, but if you have kids and want to see a little free show or want to get your souvenirs much cheaper than anywhere else or even just want to have some food options so that each person can have what they want without running all over or having to have unhealthy fast food, then you should venture into the Cannery mall. This place had things I could get to quickly without spending an hour trying to find a parking spot. The parking lot here is huge and you will not have to drive around forever to get a spot. You could be in and out of here in the time it will take you to find a spot near Front street in the beach front Lahaina area. read more

I actually enjoyed walking around the mall-and coming from someone who usually doesn't like malls, that's saying something. The Crazy Shirts shop had the cannery belt going with cans, it was neat. There is nothing wrong with the Lahaina Cannery Mall, except the economy. Located north of old Lahaina a small drive, it is still central to many other places in town. The mall itself is nice, well-kept, and has some interesting stores in it. For the tourists, you'll find your usual Long's and ABC Stores as well as some clothing shops. Our kids like Maui Toy Works, which was something I hadn't seen before. The downside to the place is that it's also half empty with a lot of closed areas. The rise in costs and the drop in tourist income has hit Maui hard, and the Cannery Mall made that noticeable. This was kind of depressing as you walked through, especially when you also noticed the lack of shoppers. If you're in Lahaina and would like some good shopping, the Cannery Mall is a decent spot. Lord knows they could use the income to revitalize what was once a happening location. read more

The hula show has gone way downhill over the years. It is now a very small group of mostly children with one or two adult dancers. Not really worth it...Whaler's village has a more impressive free show. There is nothing in any of the stores here that you can't get elsewhere...but if it is a hot day the AC can be nice. Like the other reviewer said..you WILL end up here. There is a Long's and a Safeway as well as a sampling of any other store you could really need. Decently priced trinkets available from a few stores. When we were there..Long's had the best deal on chocolate covered macadamia nuts (1.99 a box). There is a small food court which is usually populated with native Hawaiians. Kind of neat since most people spend most of their time in touristy populated areas. read more

Ohhh dearrr...this mall is depressing. When hubby and I were here years ago, it was pretty lively. It holds sentimental value since we heard the perfect name here (a random shopper who called her kid) and named our first born that same name (no, it's not Hawaiian). It was totally deserted when we came this Tuesday afternoon. There's a lot of touristy shops now with Hawaiian apparel and knickknacks that you'd see at a swap meet but overpriced. My friend told me about HIC's little discount store so I came here to see if it was open or not (they're supposedly only open during the day and if there's an extra employee who can open it). It's located near the main HIC store, and everything is discounted. Luckily, they were open so I checked it out and bought 2 T-shirts for $11.99 each. They mainly sell men's Ts, but also have men's swim trunks and rash guards, women's Ts, dresses, shorts, and bikinis, flip flops, and a very limited selection of boys/girls' apparel. You can exchange your purchase here but can't return so choose wisely. Other notables here are Longs Drug, ABC, and Safeway (if you run out of toiletries and snacks, LOL) as well as Starbucks (service here also runs on Hawaii time). There's also a free hula show at 1:00p on Saturdays and Sundays, 7:00p on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and free ukulele lessons at 5:45p on Tuesdays. read more

Mostly a collection of touristy stores, souvenirs, nice beach apparel and look out for their keiki hula and other shows. The food court is super cheap and super delicious ranging from Chinese to Filipino to Mexican. Try Los Pelones Mexican Restaurant's walk-up window or go in for dining room eating. Honolua Surf Company has AWESOME discounts on the sale section in the back, including a neat wallet for my husband who accidentally went swimming with his italian leather wallet and urgently needed a replacement. Has Long's Drugs and Safeway for all your needs. Very convenient little mall. read more

Long's Drugstore is our only shopping on this side of the island. I get my fruit there, my shampoo, my makeup, socks, slippers, Hallmark cards, bug spray, Kleenex, Tuna fish, bread, chips, soda, bottle water, beer and wine! My fan, radio, and camera, came from there too! The cheater-readers are always half off! And they have sunglass cheaters for $9. Where I paid $200 at my eye doctor. Me, like everyone else, gets their sale paper and goes in for the deals. Milk $3 instead of $7 a half a gallon! things like that! I worked in this Cannery Mall for Border's Books, until they closed. Then I worked in the information booth, just outside of Long's, for Wyndham, putting tourists on the timeshare tour. So, there were many days, I was in Long's everyday. It's also my pharmacy! When Walgreens opened across the street, I stayed true to them! And so did my doctor. Great mall for suvinoirs! And all the girls shop at Jean's Warehouse--where clothes are under $20, and most under $10! Shoes too! There's a Starbuck in the front of this mall, and the local bus stop. The bus is airconditioned and is $1, or a $2 day pass. I penned my second novel in that Starbucks, on my lunch breaks, "Kaho'olawe", and edited many chapters on that bus, going to and from work. That is why I take the bus, so I can edit while someone drives. Hawaii on TV even filmed my novel commercial at Cannery Mall! If you look on utube, Long's Drug Store is behind me and Starbucks is beside me! read more

Longs, Starbucks, and Safeway in a mall that is a half-hour walk from the Lahaina Strip make this more of a local mall than a tourist trap. Discount coupons are available for some of the stores, which tend to be moderately priced. Only bought a newspaper and iced tea from Starbucks but was able to leisurely read the paper in air conditioned comfort. Couldn't have done that along the Lahaina strip. read more
