5/11/26 When I used to visit Maui years ago, this was a bustling shopping mall with the major anchor stores of Sears, JC Penny, & Macy's/Liberty House, & a movie theater. While waiting for a family member at their appt, I went window shopping to check it out. Sad to see this place has fallen like other major malls across the country since covid & looking like a ghost town. The only anchor store left is Macy's. Their food court on the 2nd floor has dwindled to just a handful of choices: L & L BBQ, Panda Expess, Pearl Korean BBQ. There's also a pretzel place on the 2nd floor but near the Fun Factory. Downstairs was a Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and a Mexican restaurant. But there still are some other popular stores like Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret, Ben Franklin, & even a Cat Cafe where you can play with cats for a fee or adopt. Still a lot of empty store spaces advertising for lease. The mall itself is a beautiful mall to walk thru. It's open-air with a tarp like cover that lets the trade winds blow thru. Ample parking with a huge covered parking structure in the back. I enjoyed visiting this mall, it was just sad to see it half empty. read more

The canopies were removed a couple months ago and i had no idea and im a local so that goes to show how often I go to the mall. Ive also been super busy so I was in shock today. It was super hot today and we decided to go eat at pearls after the swap meet. Thankfully the food court area is closed in a bit so it was fine. Even though this mall is still going through some renovations and improvement, please support local. There are still some nice stores/businesses that need our support so check them out. Just bring your glasses and a hat since its the summer time and hot out. read more

It has all the big stores for anyone planning a big day. Kay, Macy's, Tattoo store, nail, hair snd make-up, a performance hall and all. There is fun game arcade, a food court with decent options , a stage in the middle of the mall at the entrance. Was not really keen to visit the mall as I was more interested in local Hawaiin stuff, but there was something specific I still hadn't found, I thought I might find it there. But, am glad I came. The open feel of the mall is its uniqueness. Birds freely come in and go- its pretty. The garage is worth parking simply for the view. It was very quiet , the people in the store were very friendly inspite of not many people being around. And then there is the art. KA WAHINE O KEKOA It is only when one has lived with another that one knows the meaning of love. Maui's famous artist , Fathima Mohiuddin painted the "Ka Wahine o Kekoa" mural at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in 2022. It was worth the visit for the very different feel than any big mall I have ever visited. read more

I came here to look for a sweater I found it . The store lady was super helpful. Went to Victoria secret the customer service was above and beyond compare to the mainland . Definitely recommend if you're looking to shop for last minute outfits. The Macys here had unique items and you don't find in the mainland. read more

This mall is slightly run down, there are a lot of stores that have closed down. The workers were all pretty attentive. Selection of stores were limited. You may be able to find some pretty good deals and sales. The Macy's here was surprisingly well organized here. It's not a must see mall unless you like visiting shopping malls overall. read more

I came here on a weekday, and right away it felt like a ghost town. There were hardly any people walking around, which was a little surprising, even for a weekday. At first, I thought maybe I just came at an off time, but as I explored more, I started to get why it was so quiet. Most of the stores seem to be smaller, local businesses rather than the bigger, well-known chains you'd expect to find in a mall. While I can appreciate supporting local, the overall mix just didn't draw me in. It felt like there wasn't a lot of variety, and several spots looked like they had closed down or hadn't been updated in a while. I ended up doing just one loop around the place and didn't feel the need to stick around. The food court was also a letdown. Very few options, and nothing really stood out or made me want to grab a bite. It honestly felt more like a small-town strip mall than a full shopping center. Overall, the experience was underwhelming. Unless you're looking for something super specific or live nearby, I wouldn't really recommend going out of your way to visit. Maui Matsuri Festival! Family oriented event, with youth performers and demonstrations. STEMworks, an afterschool program founded and suported by the Maui Economic Development Board, was incredible with it ʻPlaygroundʻ, and demonstrations by young people from Maui to Molokaʻi. Keeping our young pelple immersed in STEM will help bring our local kids into a productive future. One disappointment was the closure of four out of seven bathroom stalls in the womenʻs restroom. It's kinda heartbreaking revisiting the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center these days. Just a decade ago, it buzzed with energy--spotless floors, packed stores, that classic mall vibe pulling people in. Now? It's grimy, half-empty, and gives off this sketchy, forgotten aura. Malls are fading fast in our online-everything world, sure, but watching something that used to spark joy and community turn into this rundown shell hits different--almost like seeing an old friend worn down by time. read more

Was a pretty empty semi rundown looking mall. It's fairly large but maybe 25 percent of the stores were fully vacant. They do have some decent stores though and a food court. Can't say everything is clean though since there are areas that just look so rundown. read more

This mall needs help. I've lived on Maui almost 3 years and there has not been much to any revitalization of the space. It's really sad. Plenty of parking and they have a food court with some fast casual options as well as 2? 3? restaurants, but you're basically walking through a 50% shuttered mall. I really hope they bring it back to life soon. read more

Unless you need to shop, there is really no reason to come here, but my daughter insisted... They do have events hosted here. Quality/Quantity - Feels like half the businesses are closed. Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm, see website for specific days and times for individual businesses. Plenty of free mall parking. Events - see website and my pictures. Farmers market on Tues, Wed, and Fri. Concerts on certain dates, see website. Keiki Club - 3rd Saturdays, in partnership with Maui Ocean Center. It's sad to see so many shops closed due to Covid. With Sears gone makes it even worse. The farmers market at least brings in people to shop the mall to keep what shops that are open going. This is a smaller mall but I really enjoyed it. It wasn't too crowded so it was very easy to navigate. There are a lot of mom and pop shops inside but also some well known anchor stores. I stopped inside Sears shortly and they have a really nice selection of items in Hawaiian theme. I didnt eat here but the food court seemed to have a wide variety of cuisine. I would come here when wanting to shop without all of the crazy foot traffic that you see in most malls. read more

I been on maui 45 years living on 10 off this is the worse I ever saw the mall run ! Because Its literally run down ! Bathroom upstairs has 4 broken Out of 7 stalls and the one I went in had a broken door handle . Tons of business have left I heard due to greedy landlord who charges too much rent ! Sooo sad for maui we need more retail not less . Movie theaters left too a while ago this mall is now sad like a joke and Maui Mall run much better . This mall is outdated and it used to be the BEST mall amd now it's slow and Boring . I still go often to try enjoy and support but I'm sad it's so much worse then in the past . What's wrong with management can't even call management to complain about the bathrooms . Nobody answers the phone when I called so I came to YELP I hope they improve . I still come to support the business I just wish Lamdlord would improve many things like lowering rent cleaning up bathroom area how about a public bathroom. Like most malls post covid and in the time of online shopping this mall could do with a refurbishment and more tenants. However there are still enough stores to warrant a visit. Love the craft store, sewing/material store, Macy's Womens, Vicky's Secrets, Bath and Body Works, Sees Candies and we sometimes go to the movies here (although I do prefer the movie theatre beside Wholefoods). With easy parking and Starbucks in situ it makes life easy. Unfortunately there are a lot of homeless people hanging around too. Not exactly ala Moana Mall but it is the biggest and best on our island. read more

We had to kill time so we checked out the place to shop. It wasn't as busy since it was a weekday but I enjoyed that they had like a small open market in the middle where the Filipino aunties be selling vegetables or Filipino desserts. IMHO - Covid Edition I had a Macy's gift card to redeem and the only Macy's in town is here at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center. Happily found a beautiful Hawaiian style dress in Macy's dress department! Mission accomplished! This mall looks dated, but it's clean. It wasn't busy when we showed up, and I doubt that it gets really busy these days. I actually enjoyed walking through this quiet mall. Sadly there were quite a few vacant storefronts. Hallmark was having a store-closing sale... We didn't leave without purchasing some Olukai sandals from Shapers, and a yummy Jamba Juice smoothie...and utilizing the restrooms. I hope the mall survives in this day-and-age. read more

I would recommend this mall for someone trying to kill time in a shaded area. We stumbled upon this place after getting food at a to go restaurant and needed a place to eat. This shopping center happened to be nearby. We were able to grab some chairs near the entrance (but realized later that there is a whole food court on the top level). This is an outdoor shopping center with plenty of shade and it wasn't too busy here on a weekday. read more

Despite this shopping center having many empty storefronts, it's still the biggest mall in the central part of Maui. I like that they have events, a food court, and farmers market on some days. It's a nice community gathering spot. You can find pop-up shops, so sometimes there are new things to see. There are two floors, with the ground floor offering a lot of jewelry, clothing, shoes, and a few other things.Upstairs is the food court, movie theaters, bathrooms, A fun factory, and more. Surf shops. Used book store. Victoria's Secret. T-Mobile. AT&T. Verizon. See's Candies. Longs Drugs. Vape shop. Macy's is the big anchor tenant and holding fast. Sears pulled out a few years ago and that space is still vacant. The buses come here to connect with other routes. AND there's a parking structure which is a rare thing on this island. It would be great to see this old shopping center get revitalized. read more

Time to update my review of Maui's largest mall. HAPPENINGS: I'm sad to report that the majority of activities have been closures, with just a tiny handful of new openings. Gone are Vidad's (restaurant), Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, Paper Garden (formerly a Papyrus), Foot Locker, See's Candy (though they pop up during the holidays) and Local Motion (surf shop). The former Ruby's Diner spot re-opened as another restaurant only to close in a matter of months and has sat empty for years now. I'd guesstimate the mall is only about 40% occupied. There has been no renovation to the storefronts which look dated and tired, but the mall's canopy roof supports got a fresh coat of paint that actually went the opposite direction of pleasing. They pulled out all of the palm trees and planters and filled them in with ugly gray concrete that doesn't match the mall's interlocking, multi-colored cement block floor. Public areas have new furniture and convenient device charging stations but it also invited homeless campers to loiter and cause trouble. Thankfully the Maui Bus will stop utilizing the mall as a main hub soon, which should dissipate the questionable clientele. New businesses are Sacred Ties Tattau (tattoo shop), Hawaii Family Dental and a few locally-owned women's clothing shops. SECURITY ISSUES: If you need to use the restroom, do not utilize the ones upstairs by the food court or men's Macy's as they've both been associated with a multitude of assaults. Use the restrooms in the businesses if possible. Just recently, a person was held at gun point and robbed in the parking garage. And, someone's Honda Accord in the parking garage was jacked up and one tire stolen in broad daylight. There is a lack of security cameras in the entire facility, so be wary of your surroundings. BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS: Macy's, Sears (for now), Hallmark, 6-screen movie theater, farmer's market, Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Ramen Ya, Koho Grill & Bar, Pearl's Korean BBQ, Panda Express, Foodland. OVERALL: Some may say that Maui doesn't have the population to support restaurants and shops, but I think it's the mall that deprives us by not bringing in the fun and trendy businesses. Think, QKC marketing!? What can't you get on Maui that you have to fly to Oahu and beyond for? Chinese & Japanese cuisine, American chain restaurants, trendy eateries, a wider selection of clothing and accessories, and entertainment like IMAX movie screens and bowling. I won't even compare this place to Ala Moana as they're like night and day, but Ka Makana Alii, west Oahu's newest mall, has the most diverse list of tenants for a medium-scale neighborhood mall. That's what you call genius marketing. Shape up or ship out, QKC! read more

Due to the C19 pandemic we can't go to a movie theatre in Los Angeles CA because they are closed, but not here in Maui. We've been wanting to see Wonder Woman 84 and booked four tickets online. When we arrived in the early evening the mall area wasn't crowded and the movie theatre was a ghost town. We didn't have extra time to look around and go shopping. read more

This is a semi covered outdoor mall which has a lot of staple retail chain stores like Macy's and other clothing shops as well as many other retailers. The children's play area is complimentary (take your child's shoe's off 'tho) and fun for kids of young ages. Be sure to bring your own sanitizer and wipes to clean your kid's to avoid germs 'tho, it's a smart safety precaution. I liked this mall because we came on a rainy day on Maui and had time to kill. There did lack the energy of a typical retail mall (at least as found in the mainland in metropolitan cities like Los Angeles), and was kinda dead when we went. Parking was easy. read more

Saddest mall ever. We have friends that lease space. Some of them have been there for years. They treat them awful and to get things repaired is almost impossible. The stores are sub par. No actual shoe stores. No real draw to.go.to.the mall. They should have brought CheeseCake Factory there to draw more foot traffic. I rather spend the money for a quick flight to Oahu and shop at Ala Moana or Pearl Ridge. I can see why it's under foreclosure. Poor management is evident. read more

Ok. If you're a tourist or visiting from a neighboring island, I think you can definitely pass on making a stop here. Unless you absolutely need something. I got such weird vibes from this place. Like I hate to be negative but there looked like to be a lot of homeless people, the place smelt like body odor most of the time, and there were some stores vacant. If you're from Oahu, this place in comparison is like an outdoor Windward Mall. Just the layout...it's nothing compared to windward mall though. I don't know. I just didn't feel safe. We wanted to check out this mall as the front desk person at our hotel said it was THE mall in Maui. There is a food court, a theatre (although it was closed when we were there), and an arcade Fun Factory. There are a few stores like Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works, American Eagle, Hot Topic, Game Stop, ATT, T-Mobile, Jamba Juice to name a few but a good section of the mall are vacant. It gave an eerie feeling of a ghost town as you walked down at the end of each corridor. Open stores are centralized towards the middle of the plaza. Unless there is a specific shop you are looking to pick something up from, it is not worth the visit if you are looking for "a day of shopping". Hopefully, there will be some revamping of the space to bring life back into this big open area mall as it has a lot of potential. read more

During my past visits to Maui, I've passed by the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center a number of times but hadn't bothered to go explore inside the mall. There are a variety of mainstream and family-owned shops, and the food court is on the smaller second level. Plus, there are a number of community events and entertainment hosted by the center on a daily basis. read more

Queen Ka'ahumanu Center was fine. We visited this mall in an attempt to rent scooters to ride around the island, but it turns out the scooter rental spot that is still listed online and on all of the mall signage had actually moved out a couple of months prior. So, that wasn't great. We didn't spend much time here after finding out the scooter place had moved, but we walked around a bit before figuring that out, and overall this seemed like a fairly typical mall. It was neat that they were having live entertainment in the middle of the mall while we were there. They had seating, and a stage, and a live band performing traditional Hawaiian music. It was pretty cool! If you're in this area and looking for a mall shopping trip, I think this spot would be fine. read more

Located on the main highway in Kahului, this shopping mall has the usual shops and dining places. The mall has three spokes, housing various stores down each spoke. The anchor stores seem to be Macy's and Sears. Like the local feel and the activities centered around the main stage. read more

The hours on Yelp is wrong. This mall does not close at 9 pm on weekdays. We were there Thursday (4/1/21) at 7 pm. All the shops closed at 6 pm except for two stores. It looked like a nice open air mall. Hubby spoke to a local and was told the mall is in foreclosure. We were sad to hear that. read more

A good experience must be written about. We found ourselves a parking spot right up front of the main entrance. That was really a lucky find. Going thru the main entry we find the statue of Queen Kaahumanu for whom this shopping center is named after. By her statue there are some vendors selling produce and fruits. Today was apparently a farmers market day. We walked all the way back to the Longs Drug store where the missus did some shopping. It was a good walk as we had just done Land L at the food court. I am thinking that if I was a resident of Maui, that I would probably visit the shopping center often. Macy's and Sears are big names and even with big name brick and mortar stores all around Kahului, this center will stay. One other reason is that I observed many school children congregate here. They socialize in a free and safe environment until their parents pick them up. Yup, I like this large shopping center. read more

This Mall is a wonderful refuge that provides a variety of shopping options. Every time I come here it has been an awesome experience. The upstairs food court provides WiFi and it is a good place to rest, study, and just unwind in between errands and appointments. I absolutely love it here and the Farmers Market is awesome as well. The produce is always fresh and affordable and there is always much Aloha in the air. read more
