IMHO This beautiful marketplace is situated next to Kula Lodge Restaurant. Our family never passes up an opportunity to shop, and Kula Marketplace has a lot to look at and take in. You will enjoy the variety of local-made goods and gifts here. I believe there is also a small deli and small grocery area to buy sandwiches, quick snacks, jams, beverages, etc. Take your time and peruse. You'll definitely find something to take home. What a blissful exchange between all the people here. I loved it although I was popping in for a couple of items not staying at the rest of the resort. I rarely am met with such amicable folks. Quick responsive service in a place otherwise calm and slow paced. Good beer selection. As well as a variety of prices on gift options. Loved visiting again! Last time was 2018-2019. Same as I remember. Cute store full of local crafts and potions! Be careful... pricing is hard to read. Very faint and supper small. I thought an item was $36 and it was $56. Not sure I would have paid that much for a bag! Didn't see the receipt until we were back in Kahului. Anyways... happy to support local businesses! After driving upcountry we stopped in to do some gift shopping. We did find some nice Hawaiiana style gifts for Xmas and something for me. Very affordable and even has a little can food market. Xlnt selection of wines. Good to know for a pic nic in my future. Nice flower trees in the yard. read more

KULA MARKETPLACE is a a very good convenience store with some drinks, snacks, souvenirs, prepped food, etc. The lady manning the store during my visit, however, gave a very weird vibe, strange attitude. She was hounding this one customer and snapped at another. Absolutely no aloha with this lady. I'm not sure if she's the owner, but maybe they should hire locals with more welcoming attitudes. I got out quickly before she could turn my attention to me. Customer service aside, you can probably get your souvenirs here as they have different kinds (shot glasses, Christmas ornaments, etc.), locally made products, some grocery, etc. Large free parking outside. read more

On a business trip, we stopped here for second dose of coffee on the way back down Haleakala. They had these cute wish bracelets we took home as a souvenir. I like to get something whenever I go on trips to remember all of the memories made. I love love Maui, so I cannot wait to come back. The woman helping us at the counter was extremely rude. Looking at previous comments leads me to believe I was helped by the same person. She is a miserable person with no skills in customer service. Very unprofessional. Very impatient. Very rude. Not what you want to represent a store trying it's best to serve products with "aloha". The marketplace is chock full of items either for gifts or home use, I found the personnel VERY pleasant and accommodating from the woman behind the counter to the young woman in the deli section, I went specifically looking for my favorite jewelry maker on Maui and was not disappointed, the one woman led me directly to her displays. Kula Marketplace is one of the last markets on your way up to Haleakala National Park if you wish to watch the sunrise and/ or sunset on the top of the dormant volcano. My husband and I stopped by here on a Friday around 11 am. At Kula Marketplace, you can find grocery items, food and non food souvenirs, sweaters, trinkets, etc. If you did not pack any warm clothes on your trip to Maui and wish to visit Haleakala National Park, you may want to consider buying a sweater here (but Target and Walmart, by the OGG airport may be cheaper) because it can get very cold once at the national park due to the high elevation (as cold as 40*F, even if it is 85*F and above on the island). There are clean restrooms at this marketplace in case you need to use them and can pick up a cup of coffee in case you are getting sleepy or just want to warm up with a warm beverage. This is a nice stop to stretch your legs and browse the many random things at this place (and in case if you want to pick up some food) on your way up to Haleakala National Park, MauiWine winery, Ali'i Kula Lavender farm, etc. There is also a small clearancs section of random items on rbe 2nd floor in case you wish to browse. read more

I went to the Kula Market Place while I was waiting for a table at the Kula Lodge. Inside the store, there are a variety of things that you can pick up that are made in Hawaii. The manager and employees of this Marketplace are incredibly rude and seemed genuinely irritated that there were customers present. We tried to order a sandwich and they told us they were too busy and we should shop in the store. We waited patiently and when it was our turn the manager took a group of people who just walked in over us...but not before insulting them as well. The assistant at the main register said to a different customer "now that I'm clocked in I can help you." You have to work hard to be this loathsome. We have shopped here for years and wonder if, like Kula Lodge, it is under new ownership. (Kula Lodge has gone down hill as well.) I will patronize other businesses in the area instead. Did an upcountry day trip on our Honeymoon trip to Maui, we were very excited to come to this place and shop some of the "local" artistry and mercantile type things. Was disappointed, they way it was explained in many travel articles was that it was a large row of shops etc. In reality it is one large cabin with small alcoves featuring different goods that are native to Hawaii however most of the goods are similar to those seen in gift shops at hotels, fun to say we've been but not the "best" Authentic Maui shopping. read more

Typical attitude for an apparent transplant to the island. Stay away and spend your money on a local establishment ran by locals and natives. Best to avoid this tourist trap at all cost. I stopped here in the way to Haleakala National park to use the restroom and grab a drink. Pretty nice store since they had a lot of local items. They Had a very small food and drink section. I grabbed a drink and went to the cashier to pay. After paying, I said thank you and she didn't say a word. The woman who helped me was very off-putting. Great gift shop and coffee stop if you're doing the drive up or down to the crater. So many interesting things to choose from if you're looking for some souvenirs to take back to the mainland. Picnic supplies and snacks, local goodies, and local crafts for sale. Be prepared to spend a lot of time here because the selection is so great. Never judge a book by it's cover. Upon check in I wrote, very touristy. Once inside, I found it interesting. Without my family visiting from the mainland (looking for gifts) I would not have ever stepped foot in the door. It would be a rarity to find any local person in a store like this, unless you are seeking a gift made in Hawaii. The assortment and variety of items were interesting and fun to browse. Prices were as expected, touristy. Sales person was not friendly, in fact did not even acknowledge me as I walked in or during the 30 minutes I was in the shop. The food in the rear of the store was similar to what you would find in a gas station/convenience store. Having a wine selection was nice, and this establishment offered picnic tables with beautiful views to enjoy them under. I suspect many visitors staying at Kula Lodge would find the conveyance of having this neighboring store to be quite a bonus. My rating is based on the diverse, unique gifts that you could find useful if you were seeking them. read more

The Kula Marketplace is one of those sweet little Hawaii keepsake shops that are full of quality items, like island grown coffees and teas, honey, candies and island treats. The store is beautiful and everything inside looks carefully handpicked. My five year old daughter found a singing iiwi stuffed bird that she could not live without, and I don't blame her. I was eyeballing all sorts of goodies in the marketplace. Later in the day, my mom surprised me with a pair of Honu earrings made of mother of pearl. So pretty and so special. There are a couple tables out in front of the market in case you want to grab food items and eat there. And there was a little Terrier dog out front that reminded us of our beloved Hokulani at home. All of this made the visit through this store a sweet time. If you need island Christmas gifts, I highly recommend stopping into the Kula Marketplace! read more

Never thought I would be excited to yelp a market. However, this market has the ooze of true local products. There are the markets that sell tourism crap and then there is the real local stuff. This was one with real awesome local stuff. I particularly enjoyed looking at all the culinary island spices and stuff. Many many other things I wanted to get and try but wife was already groaning at what I did already buy haha....... (we had overspent prior to this) ._. Kula Marketplace was my stopping place to load up on food and water partway into my bike ride up the volcano. Long and grueling ride...and this is pretty much the only place to fuel up until the visitor center. I had somehow lost my face mask, so asked the employee if I could use my bandana or if she had masks to give. She could not have been more irritated and unpleasant. She had such a distasteful tone and outright yelled at me. Not exactly the customer service one would appreciate. She honestly hurt my feelings, even though I know there is paranoia everywhere. She paused, sighed and rolled her eyes before reluctantly giving me one of their many disposable masks. Needless to say, I quickly grabbed some nutrients and hustled out of there. I would have spent more time shopping for gifts and such, but felt too uncomfortable that I apparently had nearly killed this woman with my germs. I had found out later that my cycling friend had the same exact experience here an hour before me....I obviously won't be going back here and will warn my friends to stay away. Instead, a nice sit-down breakfast/lunch at Kula Lodge next door will be a much nicer option. read more

We usually always stop here. This time, as we were on a bicycle ride down the mountain. Cute store, lots of items. Only complaint, OMG the little old lady that I think runs the place has a major attitude and actually caused us to leave as she had such an attitude. We stop at this store every time we're on Maui. They have a great selection of gifts and souvenirs. Nice gourmet food items too. Not the lowest prices but they have some unique handmade items, including jewelry. We bought a dog collar and a cutting board on our last visit among other things. They have soaps, lotions and perfumes. Nice Christmas decorations, postcards etc. Upstairs are quilts and home decor. Can't wait to visit again in the fall. read more

The Kula Market Place Rocks!!! Not only do they have wonderful products made by scores of talented local artisans, yummy food and cold beer, the ladies who work there are about the nicest people alive. I stopped in looking for a pair of flip flops because I was bike touring and had somehow lost a sandal during my days ride. My husband and I were going for dinner in the lovely restaurant at the Kula Lodge and all I had was one sandal and some road cleat shoes that I was dying to get off my feet. The Market Place didn't have any flip flops because their merchandise is several grades above that sort of thing, but one of the saleswomen, Ruthie, gave me the shoes right off her feet!!! She lent me her lovely black sandals, which fit perfectly and vastly improved my night. I couldn't believe it - that's real Aloha!!! read more
