Quaint place! There is a dock behind the restaurant that you can walk out on and drink your coffee in the chairs. There is outside seating and inside. Plenty of on-street parking. The baked goods were delicious! The coffee was quite good. You can even relax in Adirondack chairs out front. We were a bit confused when we first entered as to how to order. There are two counters, one with coffee and the other without but both have registers. At first, it felt like all the workers were in the back or something. But the owner gave us direction and we were good. We would return.

Down a windy road and across the LaHave ferry is the LaHave bakery, and walking inside is akin to walking into a storybook of some kind. The smells wash over you, the sights give you so much to take in once you settle on a treat and a cup of coffee, you'll be so thrilled to nab a spot at the window and watch the actvitiy of this little place for a while. Personally, I think it's even more exciting to visit when the fogs rolling in; it adds something mystical to the place.

Ok coffee and pastries. Service was less than ideal, with significant wait time for the few people that where in the store.

I was just looking around when they introduced me to their Chai Cookies. I love Chai, so I had to get one. They were $2.30 each (taxes in) and quite large. They also introduced me to their soft baked pretzels, which looked really good and were also quite large ($3 each), but I decided to pass, maybe next time. I was looking at their chocolate chip cookies and I found it really cute that the girl said "I promise you that no one took a bite out of these, they are just broken like that." They did in fact look like someone took small nibbles around the edges, haha. I have a soft spot in my heart for bakeries that go ahead and sell imperfectly shaped or less aesthetically pleasing goods. This is probably because my own baking is not much to look at, but it is delicious - my own opinion, but also the opinion of others who have tasted my baking, lol. Anyway, they are relatively new, as they weren't there when we were last in Liverpool a few years ago. They sell sauces, pastas, water bottles, and other items in addition to baked goods. They also have sandwiches.

Accommodating and extremely friendly folks with excellent hand pies!…read more We are traveling on three east coast on NS, where each and every town has its signature flavor and feel, whee Mahone Bay is no different. It was mid-day, where a snack was needed to get us to dinner time, and Yelp to the rescue again. A quick search turned up Famous Town Pie Shop, and what an excellent choice this was in more ways than one. It turns out Yelp's hours of operation for this place are wrong, so we showed up just as they were closing. Being the chubby Merkans that we are, I tried the door handle and they were still open (thankfully). We were greeted with favor though as the nice staff welcomed us to try the last pies of the day. I asked for them to surprise me with whatever was available and settled on two savory pies. Uh-mazing! It had been a while since I'd last had a really good savory pie, and good ones are most certainly not available in the Southeastern U.S. of A, so this experience was amplified a bit. The crust was spot-on, the fillings were flavorful, and the portion size definitely is large enough for most North Americans. Once we scarfed down the pies outside, the owner came outside and gave us some outstanding recommendations on NS and excellent conversation. I would visit this place in a heartbeat again if we are ever in the area. This is one of those little gems that we love stumbling upon in our travels.

Right after opening up the box, we were totally impressed with the beautiful presentation. These cupcakes were just incredibly decorated. Each one of them was like a small piece of art. We had a sampling of a number of flavors, all of which were successes. The cakes were incredibly moist and light, sweet but not too sweet. The frosting was very smooth and creamy, full of flavor, not too sweet, and complemented the cake. Delectable Desserts really made our occasion special. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality really showed in every single bite. The service was great. The hospitality of the staff, warm and accommodating, showed in their passion for the job. They made sure everything was perfect with our ordered dish and delivered it on time, hence making the experience seamless and a joyful one. In short, we could not be more pleased with our Delectable Desserts cupcakes. They were truly the star dessert of the show at our special party, and our friends and family just loved them. The scallop linguini was amazing, featuring Adams & Knickle scallops, Oulton's smoked bacon, arugula, garlic, and Parmesan. The combination of fresh local scallops with the smoky bacon and greens was absolutely delicious. Love seeing local ingredients showcased this well! Their lobster roll was also one of the best we've had. Great seasoning with tarragon, mayo, celery, and greens, all tucked into a homemade roll. Simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The seafood linguini was basically Nova Scotia on a plate... loaded with scallops, mussels, and shrimp. We absolutely loved it... although it could have used just one more local ingredient: lobster! And then there was the linguine limone, which was another standout. Bright, fresh lemon zest with toasted pine nuts made for a fantastic pasta. By the end, there was absolutely no room for dessert which is probably a good sign of how much we enjoyed the meal! Great local ingredients, generous portions, and delicious seafood.
