"Gooey" is absolutely used in a complimentary way here. Where other big-name bakeries might make "gooey" cookies that just seem underdone, the softness of the cookies here is very intentional, well done, and lives up to the bakery name. Their thick cookies are fun and reminiscent of Levain Bakery, but their Bazookies are where they really shine (their version of BJ Pizookies). They can turn any of their cookie flavors into a Bazookie, and the consistency and flavor are second to none. As a self-proclaimed cookie connoisseur, I think Half Baked Goodness makes the best cookies in Houston. Tiny's is strong competition, but their cookies are completely different. Half Baked Goodness is indeed so good!!! The namesake "half baked" style equates to a THICCC, gooey cookie base that resembles a brookie (fudgy brownie + chewy cookie lovechild). Each GIGANTIC cookie (I'm telling ya, they weigh a brick and the size of my hand) is loaded with chips/toffee/special ingredients or schmeared with just the right amount of topping. I am obsessed with the Creme Brûlée, but I've tried some insanely good flavors from their rotating seasonal menu/weekly flavor features! While I have my top faves, I honestly think ALL the cookies are done well and worth trying! Do yourself a favor and grab a variety box. Bet you'll have a tough time picking a favorite, too. I keep making my way back here for a sweet tooth pit stop.... Also worth mentioning is the staff here are always very friendly, and the owners take a lot of pride in this location. She was raving about the cinnamon roll, and she was in fact correct about this raving. We were actually in Old Town Spring again the following weekend, and it was just as amazing the second time around. If you like doughy cinnamon rolls, this is your new favorite bakery. Granted, "the greatest in the world" is lofty praise and there's 2-3 places I haven't tried yet around the globe, but I don't remember ever having one I liked better. In addition, we also ordered a couple different guava and cheese pastries and cookies. All of it was awesome. It's hard to imagine coming back to OTS in the future without Buren Bakery being included on the itinerary.

Kylie and McKenna were working today and they are the kind of people that make you want to be a regular. The breakfast croissant sandwich on their homemade croissant was delicious! Add the remoulade for a little extra flavor. We also got a bunch of cupcakes to go and the lattes we were craving did not disappoint! The lovely ladies also answered a bunch of questions about their menu and it's clear they also are fans of the quality fresh baked goods and sandwiches they serve! They were also packing up some custom cakes that looked beautiful. Street parking was easy and the bathroom was clean. If I was local, I'd be here every week for sure! Ordered a wedding cake ($350) and grooms cake ($150) for my wedding. The grooms cake arrived…read moredamaged, crooked and melted. It clearly had been knocked over during transport as well as gotten too hot. The delivery person stuck flowers in the holes that were present which looked awful. The wedding cake was melted on the second layer, luckily I was able to turn it around. We were told by Shelby we would at least receive a refund on the grooms cake and never did, she won't answer any texts or calls. UPDATE: I have never received the guaranteed refund via card or check despite communicating for over a month

While waiting, I watched a staff member prepping the kolaches at the work table, and his hygiene practices were completely unacceptable. He was actively using cheese as a makeshift prop to recline his cell phone so he could look at it while working. Cell phones are notoriously covered in germs, and to make matters worse, he was repeatedly touching his phone, and then handling the food without wearing any gloves. He was also talking directly over the open food without a mask or any barrier, and he was not wearing a hairnet. Cross-contamination like this is how people get sick. Watching someone handle raw dough, touch their personal phone, and rest electronics directly on the cheese used for customers' food is a massive red flag. I will be reporting this to the Montgomery County Health Services. This man probably takes his his phone to the restroom with him and then props it up against the cheese they serve their paying customers. SMH Also, the lady has been rude to me in the past. I was in my work (blue collar) uniform and she straight up laughed at me. Apparently women can't work in trades. Screw this place!
