Downing Street Pour House is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always really good, and…read moresome of my favorites are the salmon, the Black and Blue Burger, and their salads. They also have a kids' menu, even though it is not listed on the regular menu, which is nice to know if you are bringing children with you. The staff is always awesome, friendly, and welcoming. I also love that the restaurant is located inside an old historic hotel, which gives it such a cool atmosphere -- and maybe even a few ghost stories. Overall, it is a great spot with good food, great service, and a fun historic feel. I definitely recommend checking it out.

The poutine was fabulous. The fry coating was crisp and tasty and the gravy was full of flavor. The Reuben sandwich is outstanding! The way they cut that corned beef was nothing short of magic. An egg on there? What? I've never heard of such a thing, but yes please. And I had the brûlée corn; which I may need to learn how to replicate because I've never seen this on any menu in Chicago, but it's too far to travel as often as I'll be thinking about that dish! The old fashions were smooth! Went with vanilla and loved the subtle flavors. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was a delightful mix of old school pub/English castle. All of it was just what I was hoping to find. Food off the beaten path that deserves a huge shout out. In a town of bland flavors, this place shines like a real gem!

We visited during spring break 2026, wasn't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised…read more They had a cool Robot deliver the food, kids loved it! We have a gluten free eater, they were out of the buns, which was fine, but then the server came back to the table to inform us the Owner ran to the store to get them so I (others who would order) could have a full meal. Talk about impressed and a true customer focus. Wow! My burger was scrumptious, tender, juicy (Not greasy) and the fish and chips were delicious (I was told). Another had the cajun chicken pasta, they were also highly satisfied with their choice of dinner. Thank you Chris for great service, friendly smile and a warm welcome. The ambiance was welcoming and clean. Thank you again for going out of your way for myself and family needs.

The waitress was the only good part about the meal because she was friendly and always had a smile. 4 adults and 1 children was $175 for a few "strips" of catfish and 6 shrimp on a single plate that was a full meal. I grew up in the Ozarks so I know catfish and I am sure if you put all three plates together it may have equaled one fillet. Oh, but it doesn't stop there, any table over 4 is 25% automatic tip. At least the waitress in this diner made $32. I would never recommend and never return!
