Beautiful lake! I wanted a nice walk, with great scenery, and I got just that! :) Only issue is, I didn't know about the pass. I did see a security guard, but she looked like a homeless person at first. So I walked around on another sidewalk to get to lake lol. Once I left I saw the signs "private property". And saw the security guard badge. I wanted to bring my 4 year old here to see the lake. But unfortunately I won't be able to go back. :( Due to knowing about pass now. read more

Beautiful park that is supposed to be only for residents. It's is accessible through park sienna street and street parking is always available . There is security on a little scooter who will ask if you if you have a lake pass . Lie to him or ignore him completely this lake should be accessible to everyone I don't care. read more

They should change the name to Residents Only @ Lake Calabasas! Or better yet, take it off any GPS or search engine for parks nearby. I was in the area shopping and wanted to explore what Calabasas had to offer, so I typed in "Parks Nearby"... perfect or so I thought, 4 minutes away. Drove there to find the security guard asking for a resident pass... obviously I didn't have that. I was then told I could walk around the neighborhood as there was no rules about that.. honestly, I needed the exercise so that's what I did. Yet as I walked, I kept thinking how dumb their system was... I can't stay on the path away from the homeowners actual homes down by the lake but I can walk right into their driveway if I wanted to? I would just like to say this lovely park & lake deserves more than 3.5 stars. My friend & I went for a little stroller stroll here today with our babies and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful views and walking trail around the lake. I think most of the negative reviews claim it's a private park for residents only, but that's not what we experienced-- perhaps that has recently changed? Anyway, 10/10 and 5 stars from me! Very subtle and serene. I went expecting just a lake front view and a seeking a stationary place for my hammock to relax with my dog. It ended up turning into a tranquil and gorgeous 2.5 mile walk around the entire lake at sunset that was absolutely stunning. Way more than I could've imagined. This place feels very safe, I took my dog and I had no worries. There is a security guard that patrols around the lake. He was extremely friendly and waited around me when I was sitting alone at night and didn't leave until I left which is a bonus. It is an amazing place. Residents are friendly and you can tell that the community takes pride in keeping the area peaceful. Will be back! read more

This lake and park is sooo beautiful. Well maintained. Gorgeous and serene. Very relaxing. Not too many benches but i would definitely recommend going. I think it's for people who live there only, not quite sure. It's inside the park Monaco or Capri. Loved it! read more

Ok-The lake is great and beautiful etc, etc. You can't stay here unless you have the "PASS". I complete understand the argument here, on the one side you have the homeowners that pay for this lovely place as part of their HOA they can stroll through and enjoy, it's exclusive and it increase property value-and stuff like that. Now if you live a block or so in either direction and want to walk to this park you can't stay because...yup you guess it you don't have the "PASS" lol. From my understanding the people of Calabasas pay taxes which goes towards maintaing this park as well. (I'm sure there's a lot more back story and some of my information might be outdated or inaccurate). However, I think it would great if they'd allow the people of Calabasas or whoever to pay a subscription fee for the year. If you're willing and wanting to make that contribution to the parks well-being you should have that right, along with being issued a "PASS" so that you can enjoy the park as well. It's just such a great park it's horrible it's off limits to some locals in the surrounding area. If people are willing to pay why not allow them to contribute and add value to their neighborhood. read more

If you don't live here, you play a really fun game of don't get caught by the security guard. Aside from that, it's a nice 3 miles around the perimeter. Lots of geese here, which means lots of goose poop, watch where you step. You can bring your dog, but make sure Fido is on a leash, or you'll be playing the security guard game. At certain points of the path, you exit into the neighborhood, then back on the trail again. Trust the path. read more

It's a very beautiful lake except this whole idea of needing a pass is pathetic. It's only open to people who are part of the homeowners association which is segregated to only certain parts of calabasas. Although I live in Calabasas. I even called to ask if I can pay HOA dues (these dues are to help keep the lake in good condition which is understandable) but they denied me because I didn't live in one of their "select" communities. There are lakes much more gorgeous than this that are open to the public (for example Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, LA locations) but Calabasas for some reason loves the idea of segregation read more

I've lived by this lake for five years now and I absolutely love it. It is so beautiful and a great walk. I think it is 2 miles around. I've gone fishing here too, which was also really fun. It doesn't even feel like L.A.; very peaceful and beautiful surroundings! Watch out for the geese - they tend to be aggressive and hiss at me when I walk by them. Kind of annoying, and there is also a lot of poop in certain areas. But all that aside, it is such a beautiful lake and I love that I live so close by! Make sure you bring your member key to show the security guard. read more

If you have a residential permit make sure to check this area out! I tend to take my daily jogs around this Lake when I am back in town....Really lovely lake in the heart of Calabasas. I have a few friends who are homeowners around the lake and they love it as well (although I wouldn't be comfortable with a home here because your backyard is exposed to joggers & other people.) The parkway gated areas feel safer in my opinion, although many people may disagree! There is a bike guard who roams the lake and checks for permits as well. LOVE the nature & wildlife around the lake, the only downside are the aggressive geese & the geese poop all over the sidewalk!! If you walk past them confidently and pretty much ignore them they won't cause any problems.... Just don't look them in the eye unless you are ready for some problems overall really nice area!! read more

Yes , It is a Private Community lake and you do need the proper pass. the Security Guard will check you and he is constantly patrolling the lake on his Bicycle. But the Guard is a friendly person who I'll talk with when I go there to fish with my Friend who lives there. I think there are other security guards, but lately I keep encountering the one . As others have stated, be aware of the Canadian geese, the Males are sometimes nasty and will chase you - this is usually in Spring when it's mating time. other times they will hiss at you if you pass by them too close - just hiss back at them and they tend to back off. The Lake is nice and there are some cool looking lily pad fields around the lake. also there is a grassy park area around the southwest and west end of the lake. Lots of waterfowl to see: the always present Canadian geese, Mallards , Greebes or Mudhens. Plus you'll see the odd Woodduck and I believe Margansers. There are a couple of White Egrets - which if you notice them from a distance you can watch them slealthily fish. there are Sea gulls as well, There are a lot of Red Ear Slider Turtles in the lake.. Hundreds of them. plus I did see a Spiny Softshell Turtle recently. There are Largemouth Bass, Bluegill Sunfish and Channel Catfish in the lake (these were introduced once the lake was completed as per various Municipality Laws). Since then someone has place Koi in the lake, but there's few of them- fairly certain the Bass and Catfish eat enough of the offspring to keep the population in check. Overall it's an interesting and fun lake surrounded by million dollar houses. The Locals are friendly and I enjoy fishing there (catch & release, Artificlals only). read more

I love walking here with my family. Hubby and I come at least once a day with our toddler, sometimes twice a day. Security is friendly and helpful. You can fish here with a license, although we prefer just to talk to the fisherman and leave the catching to them. :) The turtles, ducks, geese, cranes and other birds are such a treat, especially considering we are still in LA. The other day, one of the ducks actually came right up to my husband and stood up next to him while he pet him. That was a hoot. I also love that everyone is so friendly here. Everyone says hi and is very courteous. This is a very special place indeed. read more

If I could give It a 10 star I would. Been living here for almost 3 years now and everyday the lake and trees and the ducks and geese look prettier and prettier. There is something magical about this man made 3 mile lake, it's the peacefulness and kind people that walk, jog or run around the lake. The maintenance is spot on!! The ducks lay their mines everywhere, but before the day starts, there is a clean up crew that picks it all up and washes it down. In order to enter the lake, you must have a key pass that is colorful and has the current year marked on it. The lake has a few security gates that you can enter from. Then of course, you can enter the lake from your own back yard. There is boating allowed but only electrical boats. Also, if you like to fish, catch and release is a must. As for the ducks or geese, stay away from the big guys cause they love to challenge you to a pecking duel!! Haha. They just protest their babies is all. read more
