I'm at a loss for words as to how rude and disrespectful the front desk staff was. I was here visiting friends and I had to make two separate reservations with the hotel one for Friday one for Saturday as they were very booked. My card was charged for both rooms ahead of time. When I checked in, I explained to the front desk person, and she told me she made sure that the reservation was made into one and that I could stay in the same room for the whole weekend - no problem (she was very nice). I came back to my room at 930 at night and my key card didn't work. The staff in this hotel went INTO my room and PACKED UP MY THINGS in the middle of my stay. I went to the lobby and spoke with a woman who said that they had deactivated my card. They didn't understand why I had two separate reservations. This was an error completely on their end and they acted like I was the problem. She was rude, unhelpful and unapologetic. The rooms were paid for, and the fact that they were prepaid AND that I had stayed the night before meant they COULD HAVE CALLED me if there was a problem. Instead, the staff PACKED ALL OF MY CLOTHING up that was laid out on a desk, and put it away in my suitcase. They touched everything I brought - folded my belongings, even putting away my toothbrush and toothpaste in my suitcase. I feel so VIOLATED - they did not apologize even though the error was on their end. She just smugly said it was a misunderstanding with no apology. Oh really? Not mine!!! I would not recommend this hotel and I already cancelled the reservation I had in April!!!

The pool, hot tub, and sauna were welcoming as well. And we pretty much had it all to ourselves due to it being off-season. They provide a free tea and cookie hour from 4:00-5:00, but I would not recommend it. They need to offer organic teas and better cookie choices in our opinion. The staff were so very nice and offered a lot of advice about local businesses. We would certainly stay there again.

We were immediately welcomed by the super friendly and knowledgeable hosts, who gave us a quick call when our room was ready a few hours early. Our room, located in the Mansfield House, was absolutely spectacular. Immaculately clean and impeccably designed, this room proved that the GMI blows away plenty of the more "luxury" hotel experiences that my fiancé and I have paid a pretty penny for over the years. If you enjoy historic charm with modern amenities, this is the hotel for you. The Inn's restaurant, The Whip, is also excellent, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Inn's central location, ample parking, and loyalty program for return guests. Needless to say, we're planning on coming back as soon as we can.

Great place to have breakfast and enjoy the 2.5 mile walk to the market or visit the beautiful garden on the property. Breakfast can be had under a covered patio which looks over the beautiful landscaped gardens. Reservations are easy to make on line. Even if you're not a guest at the Inn. Check dates for availability since I believe reservations may be seasonal. Can't wait to go back!!

I think we also had a sampling of the Shelburne Farms cheddar cheese which is amazingly delicious. Although the brunch is somewhat pricey (but reasonable compared to dinner), you are paying for the location and gorgeous view of Lake Champlain in the backyard of the Inn. Overall, service was pretty good at brunch and attentive, but our reservation was near the end of the brunch period. It's well worth taking pictures outside if the weather is nice. Before you enter the dining room, be sure to visit the sitting room. The Inn has a pleasant, historic vibe and elegant charm with portraits of Lila Vanderbilt Webb in the sitting room. This Yelp review is just for the brunch at the Inn (we did not stay overnight).

Based on reviews and their webpage, I was under the impression that breakfast was provided but it was not. You can buy breakfast in the restaurant but it is expensive. The weirdest part of the stay was that there is no host to check guests in or help with issues. It is completely virtual! You press the button on a doorbell camera and someone answers after like 5 min. I had to press it several times to get a response at 10 am in the day of my checkout. The response was the staff doesn't show up until 11 am; which is the checkout time. There is a text number but the person or AI agent on the other end clearly is not the innkeeper or anyone capable of making decisions. They/It provided faulty information and was the opposite of helpful. If this is what the future of hospitality looks like, I am not impressed. My family rented two rooms on the first floor. One room facing the back of the property was nice but the other one (#15) was very small and had two windows overlooking the front porch and yard. Unfortunately there are chairs just outside of the windows and someone kept sitting in one of them and talking on her phone. It was very uncomfortable to have the shades open and have someone sitting right there. Because of this we had to keep the curtains drawn and with the room being so small, it felt like we were in a cave. Basically, it sounds like staying at the Jackson used to be a very nice experience but new owners/management are now trying to run the hotel as cheaply as possible. Guests are noticing.

Additionally, you will be charged immediately. I tried to call the inn directly, but a third party I contacted offered no assistance other than stating they would "expedite the request." Unfortunately, no one from the inn reached out to me, and I ended up losing my money.
