I remember camping here as a child and I LOVED it. Nothing beats swimming in a pool, dipping toes in a lake, fishing, grilling food over an open fire, functioning electricity and all else that is included with what I consider to be the perfect camping trip. I recently came here for a day trip with family and I was overcame with nostalgia overload. The park looked the same as it did 20 years ago: serene, clean, and renovated! If you're looking for a camp spot not too far from Seattle yet far enough to just get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Lake Connor is just a skip away. Good enough for camping if you're not ready to really "rough it" in the wild, this place offers daily cooked breakfasts, a swimming pool, and the clean bathrooms will not give you the anxiety you feel when thinking about outhouses. Everyone is really friendly and yes, most of the folks here are of retirement age. This means no drunk and wild parties until 3am! Not too far from Lake Stevens, Lake Connor is a great spot to enjoy the scenery and get you in touch with nature.

Staff/employee spots were clearly marked, so I made sure to avoid parking in any of those. Exploring on foot, I traversed a grassy expanse on my way to the Lake Stevens War Memorial. Those honored in the memorial included wars temporally spanning World War I to the Vietnam War. A flag retirement box was located on the pavement near the memorial. Along a walkway to the beach area on the shoreline of Lake Stevens, I spotted a number of different wildflowers and wild berries in bloom. The water was calm and sky clear. A few people were on the dock and it was quiet. Up from the beach there were benches, a covered picnic table area with grill that abutted a restroom building with running water, and a playground. The grounds were well maintained and in good condition.

The park itself is pretty big, a nice large lawn with picnic tables and plenty of space to set up a picnic on the grass. Most people seemed to be enjoying lunch in their car or on the grass or next to their cars. A few folks set up their lawn chairs and enjoyed the sunshine but point is, theres a lot space to enjoy the park however you want, it's pretty great! As for dog walking it wasn't a large area for dogs to roam around, dogs must stay on leash or you risk a fine according to the signs there, but it's still a nice area to bring your dog to while you enjoy the view. I had seen pictures of dogs in the water so I knew there had to be a trail somewhere. The lawn has a few levels to it and a lot of grassy spots areas to hang out in between the bushes and off to the left we found a dirt road. The signage was spray painted so you cant read it and the path looks pretty used so we went down it and came to the traintracks. We crossed those and found the beach where further down we saw some other people. Our dogs loved it, they got to enjoy the sunshine, roam on the grass, walk around and swim! We definitely plan on coming back just to enjoy coffee and a view, or have a nice lunch date, watch the sunset, theres quite a few fun possibilities here!
