It was a cabin completely different from what I saw in the picture. The cabin was only the same structure, with webs all over it, and the white towel was grey, so it was unusable, and my husband and I could not rest for four days there. It was the worst cabin I've ever met on a trip in the last two months. I never come back there. read more

Wow - the grounds are stunning. My friend and I stayed in Cabin 1 which is situated right along the lake. With access to the river, kayaking on the lake, and the general tranquility, this gated resort is a hidden gem. While I wasn't a fan of a few things (critters in the bathroom, rough towels, and shotty wifi which might have been a good thing), it didn't ruin our experience in the slightest. My friend and I, unfortunately, stayed for just one night to explore Sequoia National Park. We kept saying how we wished we had at least one more night to really soak this place in. We hiked down to the river where it smelled like wild flowers, star gazed at night, woke up early to drink tea on the miniature island across the tiny pedestrian bridge, and kayaked around the lake. All the while it was incredibly quiet where all you could hear was the sound of nature. The cabin itself was quite impressive as well: We had an entire cabin to ourselves with a kitchen, bathroom, living space, and bedroom (with a queen mattress) which was plenty of space for us. There is also a small BBQ Grill outside for use. The check in process was smooth and we were greeted by an incredibly kind woman who was extremely welcoming. The resort is roughly 5 miles from the National Park and just a short drive away from all the restaurants and bars. The price was amazing for it's location and amenities in the area. We were happy to find it and will absolutely be coming back. Thank you SO much for the amazing hospitality! read more

DO NOT STAY AT THE LAKE ELOWIN RESORT!!! WAY TOO OVERPRICED FOR A SHITTY CABIN!!! The host Milton was extremely rude. I never experienced anything like this before. Milton physically confronted us when we took a table outside, and he kept grabbing our things that were not supposed to be outside, instead of letting us take care of it. He was trying to get inside the property without permission when I was changing inside. We were under the impression that Milton was under the influence while we were there; not wearing a shirt, looked homeless. About the property: very outdated cabin, visible termite damage, the fridge did not work; ruined our food, smelly, full of bugs, the shower was falling apart. DOG SHIT RIGHT NEXT TO OUR CABIN. THE OWNER DID NOT CLEAN IT!! DID NOT OFFER TO ACCOMMODATE US IN ANY WAY. read more

Looking for an escape? - LAKE ELOWIN IS THE PLACE!!! Located minutes from the Sequoia National Forest this cabin style resort is a hidden gem in the great outdoors. My boyfriend's family has been going to this resort for over 20 years & they continue to visit as often as possible. After visiting myself I understand why! Lake Elowin is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. During the day you can enjoy the Sequoia's just minutes away or hike down to the river for rafting, fishing, swimming & all around fun in the sun! As evening rolls in you can have on site bon fires & barbeques by the pond located on the resort. Night time at Lake Elowin is breathtaking- peace & quiet, the sounds of chirping crickets echoing within the trees as you experience a bright starry night! During my visit we were lucky enough to experience an epidemic of shooting stars one after another. I would recommend visiting Lake Elowin in the summertime when the weather and the river water will be warm as it will make for playing outdoors much more enjoyable. First time visiting Sequoia National Park and I couldn't be happier having stayed at Lake Elowin. By far the best option for any one that wants more than a standard room at the Comfort Inn. Stayed in cabin #2 and had perfect views of their private swimming hole and surrounding mountain range. The kitchen was fully stocked and CLEAN. Best surprise of the trip was when the owner mentioned a trail to the nearby Kaweah River, less than a 10min walk brings you to the most pristine swimming hole I've ever seen. Will be staying with Milton and Hanna for all future trips to the Sequoias!! read more

SKEEETCH. Had to call about 4-5 times across several days to finally get a response for making reservation. Trying to avoid paying the Airbnb tax, the things I will do. There are cats here. Lots of them. About 30+. They are fun to play with. But look like they'll take over. Bathroom had green-colored spots on the metal and the soap holder. Cabin itself is quite old and comes with kitchen. The front desk is very old, dirty, and lacking of amenities. It is a super chill life. Manager seems very unprofessional and doesn't give a ____. The lake itself is somewhat swamp like. OK, the only highlight was the cats. They are related, most of them are wild-looking, some of them are more domesticated and not scared of people. The AC works. There's no wifi, drive a few miles down into town to get that. read more

My experience with this resort was a brief one. My best friend of many years has mentioned numerous times how much she loved going to Lake Elowin as a kid. After many years of us talking about it, she finally booked a weekend a full year in advance so that we could all plan to be there. When she booked, she emphasized that they told her that there is no cancelation fee as long as you give 24 hours notice, so we booked. Unfortunately, life happens and unexpected things came up with all of the families who wanted to go, so my friend had to cancel the reservations one week before our trip. When she called in they said that they were not able to process the refund back to her card and that they would have to send her a check. We both thought this was strange, but whatever. She waited patiently for two weeks, which is ample time for her to receive anything by mail (we only live a few hours away. When the check did come, it was for significantly less that what they charged so she tried getting in touch again and they blew her off. She called a few times and waited a couple weeks before she asked me to reach out to them just to see if they were ignoring her calls or if they were actually not taking calls at that time. So I called in and spoke to the girl who answered. At first I told her that I was interested in booking a trip because I knew that if I told her right off the bat that I was calling on behalf of my friend who was short changed I probably wouldn't get a response. As soon as I told her that I was concerned about the situation of our booking under my friends name the tone of the entire conversation changed. She was extremely rude, and extremely short. She said that Kristen was short changed because she only gave them one weeks notice before her cancellation. When I mentioned that they told her that it was only 24 hours notice, she said that is up to the owner to decide. When I told her that this was a really shady way of doing business she hung up on me. This was something that we were very excited about and really wanted to be able to reschedule for another time, but unfortunately we have such a bad taste in our mouths due to how this situation was handled. Not only was this woman extremely rude, and not only did it take weeks to get a second check, but we were still not full reimbursed for the full amount of our reservation. read more

I have been coming here with my parents since I was 9 and just turned 20! Lake Elowin has always been a sort of magical happy place for me- probably my most favorite place to come relax, swim and listen to Milton's stories (which he will be sure to tell you- they are the best!!) The cabins are rustic but perfect if you want a simple cabin experience with incredible views, consistently fiendly neighboring guests, and perfect nature sounds. Milton is THE MOST interesting person, with tales that will certainly leave you wanting more. Generations of family's have been coming here for years- it is the perfect blast from the past in terms of how the old school sense of cabin living has been maintained. NOT TO MENTION THE STARS AT NIGHT. Insane. Lake Elowin has the most special place in my heart. A perfect place with a fascinating history- make sure to ask Milton when you check in (; Look out for deer, every kind of birds, Rocky- the wise and adventurous neighborhood dog, and the koi pond (ask Milton to feed the fish!) Vacation from Hell The resort consist of several old, rustic, small 600-800 sq. cabins that are way too overpriced. Some of them have visible damage and are in desperate need of a repairs. The only highlight is man-made lake. Cabins inside are somewhat clean, but clearly outdated and overused. Lots of bugs, mosquitoes inside and outside of cabins. The fridge in our cabin did not work and, in our several attempts to contact the owner, we only received rude answer on the edge of "take it or leave the property". Owner's dog pooped everywhere on the property and the owner did not care at all, one of our friends has to clean dog's poop so that the kids did not step into it I've heard that the owner was a nice guy some time ago, but not this time. He appears to be some kind of intoxicated, rude and un-responsive to the guest needs. Constantly repeating to new guests: "I can ask you to leave anytime". He was trying to enter our cabin when my wife was changing so that I had block the door from him. For the price that we paid we could've stay in much better spot at this location, even inside of the National Park read more

Small cabins, sprinkled over some lovely lawns, with a small lake that is fed by the river. Trails to the river. This is another place of which I am highly prejudiced. When our daughter was very small, and driving me insane, we would come here for a few days so she could row in the canoes with daddy and I could sit by the lake and read all afternoon. There is no television, no radio, no disturbance. It does get hot in the summer so the cabins are air conditioned. read more

Great place to relax , close to sequoia national park. The cabins are a little old and small. We had a cabin that was designated for 3 people but i wouldn't fit more than 2 comfortably. The owner live on premises and is always around if you need anything but has his own little rules like where to park the car and etc,,, . Very small cabins, old, outdated nasty carpet that stinks you can smell it from the doorway. WAY overpriced for what it is. inside you will find roaches and huge jumping spiders. The towels that were hanging in the bathroom clearly were not washed after the previous people stayed. The outside looks decent and the surrounding area is nice but once you step inside you'll regret it. The air conditioner stinks like the filters haven't been changed in years. The only nice thing about it was that we got to see some beautiful deers. That's about it. Would never recommend this place to anybody. read more

we just returned from the resort, it is a rustic old school cabin yes from the 50s, understand if you are looking for a tv, internet in the rooms, this is not the place for you! If you are like me and my family looking to go off the grid and truly give our children an opportunity to be kids and swim in the man made lake, walk down to the river and swim or catch a fish or catch some bullfrogs at night then this is the place for you. we loved our time there and plan on returning, milton and the office staff were great not sure what others are talking about as he was not rude nor was any of his staff. this is truly a place where your kids can run around, swim, play, fish and truly be kids the things most of us hold to be a great part of our childhood. no ipads, kids actually interacting, talking and laughing you know being kids. the kitchens were old but everything worked to include the fridge and the stove, a/c kept us really cool at night. i will be coming back as it is a reminder of the past and something we can truly give our kids, a memory to last a lifetime. i have taken my kids to maui, cancun, etc but this is a different type of vacation this is the type of place where your kids can play, swim and the wife and i can have a few beers and look at the stars and truly remove ourselves from a busy world . do yourself a favor and check it out read more

This place is awesome. On our first night we saw a big black bear. It was kind of scary at night since there is not much street lights and we weren't sure which way the cabins and lake are. So I would say try to reach before sunset. Next morning when we saw the lake it was worth the wait. The lake had small kayak boats where you can ride single or double. When you kayak it is a beautiful scene. Apart from that you have a small ping pong table. It is not well maintained but you can still play. A small hike down is a beautiful flowing river. It has crystal clear water and you can swim and dive in there. Sequoia national park is like 2 miles north. Worth visiting this place. Make early reservation since the cabins are limited. owner has very strict policies about noise, guests etc. enjoy!!! read more

Staff were untimely and unprofessional when my wife and I were trying to modify our multi-cabin booking for a family & friend centered weekend. We were ignored, rudely treated and refund money was unjustly withheld. For what should have been a very simple process; it ended up in a refusal in communication after brief and infrequent responses on their part. We would have liked to have kept Lake Elowin in mind for future outings, but this event soured any hope for that. read more

Best owner, staff,and resort in all of Three Rivers. My first time here was 2 years ago and I love going back during every season. The cabins are extremely clean, the kitchen is stocked with plates, bowls, silverware, all the essentials which is so extremely convenient. The resort is so welcoming, and not to mention beautiful year round! The river access is so private and wonderful! I have always had amazing experiences, and great memories at Lake Elowin. There is a trail that leads to a small rocky beach. Great place for kids to explore and play. Once in awhile white water rafters will pass by. Great place to get away and relax. Have been staying at Lake Elowin for many years now. This place is about the best stress release one can find. As I drive onto the shade covered property I can feel my stress evaporating. Milton and Dennis are warm and gracious host. The cabins have a rustic charm with air conditioning and heaters if needed. Pots, pans and silverware are all provided as are BBQ pits and utensils for each cabin. No TV or radio contributes to the ambiance of this serene place. The lake on the property is a great place to take a swim as is the private beach down by the river. I would recommend bringing some seasonings for your cooking and paper towels for the kitchen. Two days at Lake Elowin is about all it takes to feel like you have really had a vacation. read more

As a person who gets very little time off from work I decided to take a "staycation" near home to save on travel time. I could not have picked a more perfect place than Lake Elowin Resort. As soon as I drove onto the property I felt comfortable, safe and very welcomed. Milt and his staff were warm, friendly and extremely caring. I stayed in cabin 2. right on the lake which had a comfy queen sized bed, a small kitchenette and tiny bathroom with a quaint bridge right outside the porch that leads to the lake's island. The grounds are well maintained and green with plenty of shade trees. The river is a short hike down a well traveled trail where you'll find a swimming hole complete with a rope to swing and drop from as well as a waterfall. At night I slept with my windows opened to catch the breeze and fall asleep to the sounds of nature.There are bbq's outside each cabin, picnic tables, canoes and a ping pong table. It's ideal for families, couples and even lone travelers like me. No televisions, wi fi and for me, no phone service add to that the peace and tranquility. Lake Elowin is a place to decompress, relax and not feel the pressures of the outside world.Two days was definitely not enough. Thank you so much Milton for making this such a fantastic experience.
