The road is smoother than in a millennium (with a few exceptions) & no construction through mid August! The historic cabins are wonderful & the staff is the BEST. Wild flowers in abundance & the bridge for White Chief up while the other crossings (Sawtooth, Franklin) need long legs or waterproof boots. Wild life is finally on the rebound after the NPS disastrous fires (poor management). It's our own little Switzerland. You won't be disappointed! read more

Heaven on Earth. For the 2nd year in a row, my family escaped the city and spent a week here in this magical place. Comfortable cabins, a great little market and restaurant, and easy access to beautiful hiking trails among the Sequoias. carne asada fries here were so delicious. i'm from los angeles and i gotta say they did it so well for being a little mountain resort restaurant. i loved the contrast of the creamy green cilantro crema with the red chipotle crema on the perfectly tender carne asada, which i'm pretty sure was meat from the famed harris ranch of california. the fries were so perfectly crisp and the beans, cheese, etc all complemented the flavors so nicely. we also tried the apple and berry pie. it was well done as well, got one slice a la mode with icecream :). the workers here are so nice and personable. real friendly people, we loved this young man i forget his name but he was from georgia or something. they sell a lot of cute souvenirs in here such as apparel, candles, postcards and stickers branded with mineral king. they also sell backpackers dehydrated meals and little toiletries and drugs you may have forgotten. always make a trip here when i'm around. love it. they also have showers attached to the bathroom and you could just walk in and take a shower after a lil hike ?? maybe :) read more

Skip the traffic heading into the park and bust a right onto Mineral King Road - it's a fun drive but the road is in disrepair and there is currently construction so check the local traffic reports. This gem is worth it. Old 1929 cabin resort with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly service. And the food is wonderful. Carne Asada fries are delish and the portion is mountain size. I accidentally left my bag in my cabin after I had made it back down the hill and they were kind enough to send it back to me. Stayed here in the Evelyn Lake studio cabin June 03-05 2025. Aside from the long winding road up, which is an adventure itself. This place is WONDERFUL. We were immediately and warmly welcomed by Susan who checked us in and was our server at the charming restaurant they have. After a long day of driving and then hiking up in the National Park we were starving. The Grizzly Burger and fries were beyond delicious(even breakfast was top notch). My friend loved the local beer served and even the coffee was local. Our studio cabin was simple and elegant with a queen and twin bed two closets, a high top table, a desk and a roomy shower. Everything was pine to give it that classic cabin vibe but with more modern features. Every staff member we met, even in passing was friendly. There is free WiFi if you still feel the need to plug in to your social life, but don't expect to be watching Netflix. This place is secluded and WELL away from the crowds of the park. Definitely worth the hour plus drive even just for the food and the friendly staff. read more

Loved it loved it loved it. Hocket Meadow cabin. Great room. Lovely staff. Beautiful location. Many times to Sequoia but this was our first time to Mineral King. We went on two incredible day hikes and SAW NOONE. We were at an alpine lake over 10,000ft elevation all by ourselves. And the next day a huge sequoia grove, again alone. Magical. Hope to come back someday and do even longer adventures. The road is crazy, but we did it in our Toyota Corolla. You got this--if you want a long slow breath of an accommodation and an adrenaline rush of an adventure, it's more than worth it. Also pie! Oh, and stop bugging the staff about how the road doesn't connect with the rest of the park! It never did, just do your research before you come. I can't begin to explain how amazing this stay was! This was our first time to the area. Was looking for something quieter then the tourist filed parts of Sequoia Park but still have the tress and views! Silver city surpassed my expectations by a thousand percent! The staff was amazing from the first time we stepped in to the time we checked out. Sam was very responsive with emails throughout the booking process answering any questions I had in detail. The food is spectacular! Every meal we had was perfect. The pie! Omg the pie and I don't even eat pie, but I did up there everyday! As well as brownies and ice cream! We stayed in Franklin pass and had the romance package. Fresh chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of red wine were waiting! The cabin was beautiful! Gas fireplace, big walk in shower and large soaking tub! You would never know you were completely off grid, electricity, hot water, flush toilets! This place is amazing!!!! Came for some time to chill under the tree's and to soak in the fresh air and this place did not disappoint. Well worth the "rough drive" in my opinion (20 miles @ 10 miles an hour, 1 lane, steep and bumpy in spots). Had such a relaxing and wonderful time. Molly (manager) and her crew are excellent. Friendly and helpful despite being short staffed. Resort dog "Steely Dan" I believe was his name, is just a sweetheart. Food here is also top notch. Although I packed some food, not knowing what to expect, I ended up eating all my meals at the restaurant. Healthy options available. Everything was absolutely delicious. Cabin was perfect for me and had everything I needed. I can't say enough great things about this place. It really is a little piece of heaven. I wish I could have stayed longer. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for five nights and six days. THE STAFF : Joseph the manager is awesome. Super informative and always wanting to assists in anyway he can. Sarah one of the many hosts / front desk employees. Is very sweet and attentive. THE RESTAURANT : Service - amazing Food - even better!!! Sun Rise special (ordered it twice) - the bacon is super flavorful and I ate every piece of it [I normally don't eat all my bacon]. The house potatoes are Rosmary seasoned. Flapjacks - very soft and in the sweeter side. The strawberry jam is great. Farewell French toast - really well done. Not super eggy and not really sweet. Grizzly burger - very juicy; it came with two patties. The sauce they add to it compliments the burger. We ordered the adult grilled cheese (I can't remember the name) - we ordered it without the jam but it was sooooooo good. The fries are outstanding. Crispy and well seasoned. Highly recommend eating here at least once! The orange juice and the French pressed coffee are something one shouldn't pass up --------the pies----- I have to start by saying i am not a pie eater. I'm not one who craves or will go out of my way to eat it. In fact I avoid it. YOU SHOULD BUY PIE HERE!!! The pecan pie is on the sweeter side but one of the best pies I've ever had. I ate an entire slice to myself on multiple occasions. My boyfriend loved their apple pie and the berry pie. I did not try it. OUR STAY: We loved it. We plan on returning. We loved the private bath and shower. We adored how off the grid and secluded this place is. The hikes near by are great and on the challenging side (not all just a few). Drove by Silver City a few times within the last few years when going up to Mineral King for family hiking/backpacking adventures. Every time I looked at it longingly from my car window as I was exhausted and longed for some semblance of comfort. This year, eager to share the splendors of Mineral King with my sister (who is not a hiker), we opted to book a cabin and enjoy Mineral King a different way. Having previously stayed in cabins, I wasn't expecting much. Considering the elevation and lack of immediate access to amenities, I was preparing myself for much less. However, I was impressed by the friendliness, cleanliness, and readily available amenities. My party booked Sunny Point Cabin. It was perfect for our party of 4. It was very charming and clean. Cabin is situated perfectly behind the Lobby/Restaurant and in front of the bathrooms. Due to the proximity to the lobby, the cabin does have WiFi although weak at times. Moreover, Sunny Point has a toilet room but no shower however, the communal bathrooms right behind are impeccably clean. Shower stalls have perfect privacy with a little bench to stow your belongings. Additionally, dispensers in showers provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in case you forgot yours. The drive up to Silver City is not difficult if you're used to mountain roads but, it's not easy.. expect to drive no more than 10-15 miles per hour. It's a series of twists and turns that at certain points are unpaved and only fit one car. So, drive carefully and maybe avoid driving at night. We packed a lot of food expecting we'd be cooking... this did not happen as planned as the restaurant food is in fact really good. Seriously good. Definitely come here.. High end fresh faire in an unparalleled setting nestled among the forest. Oh, and if you're vegan, they have you covered. Do try the vegan black bean burger. In case you don't eat on the premises, cabin kitchens are stocked with all sorts of cooking amenities you may need: pots, pans, cups, plates, a French press, etc. You're covered. We opted to bring paper plates and disposable cutlery as we are cognizant that California is in the midst of a drought and wanted to do our part to conserve water.. Once again, the cabins are great and the best hiking opportunities in the valley are just miles away. I've done Eagle Lake, Mosquito Lake, and this time around a portion of Hockett Meadows. This place is perfect for even those people that aren't fond of the outdoors... however, they'll be leaving with a newfound appreciation.. so much so that we already booked our cabin for next year. **During my stay, there was HEAVY smoke due to the ongoing wildfires. Sleeping at night was almost unbearable. This has nothing at all to do with the resort but, keep that in mind. read more

This was our second hiking trip in Mineral King. Both times we stayed in Shooting Star cabin, for seven or eight nights. Wish we could have stayed longer. Silver City Mountain Resort is the best! Feels like pure luxury in the middle of the most beautiful wilderness! Great staff! Great restaurant! Wonderful cabin, spacious and well equipped, with a beautiful view, surrounded with trees, and with all the comforts of home in such a gorgeous setting. I needed an escape off the grid for a few days this late spring and planned one out to Silver City Mountain Resort in Mineral King last year (they book early and fill up quickly). I was not aware that they had been shut down since 2022 due to the road being washed out. It's not particularly enjoyable getting there, as the 20 miles up the mountain is very winding and the road is not in the best of condition (give it an hour or more). But there are a lot of improvements happening on a daily basis. Now, to the resort. It was exactly what I was looking for and more. The setting amongst the sequoias is ideal. The cabin was perfect, equipped with a gas fireplace, shower, and tub. I did the Paradise Ridge Hike on Saturday and it was on the challenging side. However, I think the views and the sequoias throughout make it very worthwhile. After the hike I settled into the restaurant. The food was fantastic, to say the least. And, the entire staff will apparently go out of their way to make sure their guests are very satisfied. Incredible people with a challenging job, since they had only been opened for over a week after being shutdown for two years. After leaving the resort on Sunday, I headed back down the mountain and off to Sequoia National Park. What a weekend! Highly, highly recommended! read more

Just left this wonderful spot after another highly enjoyable trip to Silver City. Shared Rock Cabin with two long time Sierra Club member who have hiked out if Silver City for over 45 years ! We found the staff delightful & accommodating. The cabins had been nicely updated since our last visit in '19 and the homemade pies OMG keep tasting better as does the entire menu, this year we brought our own food but planned one or two meals at the restaurant to fit in with our busy schedule. It was cool. I went on a poorly planned spontaneous trip so I took the last cabin available. Really small, no electricity, or WiFi but it was just what I needed so I'm grateful for that. You go up Mineral King road for like 20+ miles and I thought I would never make it and would have to sleep in my car. It's a long thin winding possibly dangerous road so drive with caution. Finally at mile 21 at 9pm I saw it on the left and prayed that was it. It was lol. Staff was friendly and helpful. I was just happy to have a bed and roof over my head so it was cool and I fell asleep. Got up in the morning and ate breakfast and headed for General Sherman. I should've planned it a little better but at least I took care of that bucket list item! Shout out to Chantai, Taylor?, and that nice cute clerk girl with the glasses. This review is for our stay at the Honeymoon Cabin. THE GOOD: --The setting in the forest is lovely. --Restaurant was good and outdoor dining area was pleasant. --Public restrooms and showers were very clean. --The Mineral King area is beautiful. THE BAD: --Staff were not the friendliest and often couldn't provide basic information about the park and surrounding area. --Confusing website regarding cabin amenities. It says the cabin has a full kitchen; it does not note that there is no electricity or hot water. --Conflicting information about restaurant hours made meal planning difficult. Website said one thing, emails another, in person yet another. --No information in the cabin regarding operation of propane lamps/stove, check out, or anything else. --No warning to secure your food from rodents that can enter your cabin. --We had to request a padlock to secure our cabin. The door does not even latch--you just push it open. Staff acted dismayed at this request, saying they don't have crime there. This is a public property offering public showers and restaurant. Anyone can wander around this property. THE UGLY: --At $165/night we expected our cabin to be clean and well maintained. It was NOT. --Rocks--yes, rocks--were used to keep cabinet doors closed. --Window screens/frames needed repair. Each time I tried opening one of the windows, the screen fell to the ground outside the cabin. --Gaping holes and cracks in walls allowed critters to enter our cabin. The sound of a rodent munching our food woke us up at night. --A broken curtain rod fell every time we opened the curtain. --Our grill was unclean. --Cabin floor was utterly disgusting and looked as if it had not been mopped ever. Our overall impression is that Silver City is not well managed, but to their credit, they responded to our feedback and readily refunded the cost of one of our three nights' stay. They also noted that they are correcting the cabin problems we mentioned; hopefully, they make good on their promise for future guests. read more

I can't say enough good things about Silver City Mountain Resort. We were surprised to find lots of snow on the ground in May, but it actually made for a nice, cozy couple of days. The cabin was perfect and clean, the staff was more than exceptional and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. Every single person we met was so kind and down to earth. There is no reception up there and you can only get Wifi at the lodge so it really does make for a perfect trip if you want to unplug and recharge.  Tip: The road to the resort takes two hours because it is verrry windy and narrow and you have to take it very slow. If you are afraid of heights or driving up a steep mountain road with no mirrors or railings, let someone else drive read more

Construction noise at 7AM in the morning!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?? This could be a great place to chill, relax and enjoy the view. We arrived at 8PM on the check in date and planed to enjoy the view on the next day but we had to wake up way earlier than we imagined from the construction noise. We hoped it would be finished soon but it still blaring continuously till we could not take it anymore and checked out way before noon. My daughter, son-in-law, and I came to the Silver City after finishing an eight-day backpacking trip and we were met there by my wife. It was the perfect way to reunite and to transition from a beautiful backcountry trip to "reality." We stayed at the "Creekside" cabin and it was the perfect size for our group, with a nice outdoor shaded table. Our group was largely vegetarian and we appreciated the non-meat options on the dinner menu, especially the "Vegan Miner" and "Grownup Grilled Cheese" (sans bacon). The beer selection was excellent and the pies were off the charts delicious. Breakfast was so filling and good that we basically skipped lunch. And it was great to enjoy both breakfast and dinner on the outdoor dining area. We lucked out and on our first night a USGS team hosted by NPS came and gave a super interesting presentation on the changing fire ecology in the Sierras right after dinner! Hannah and her team are super friendly and helpful and we can't wait to get back some day. read more

What a diamond in the rough (literally)! I did not stay at the resort, we had a campsite at Cold Springs just down the road. 1.5 hours from civilization and we were eating like kings while staying in a tent, what a treat. We started by having our last civilized meal before a week long backpacking trip in Mineral King. We were all set to order their yummy sounding burgers when the waitress let us know that they had Ribeye's as an off menu item. We all went for that, and none of us were disappointed! During our whole backpacking adventure, we were dreaming of the burgers once we got off trail, it came up in conversation many times. We got off trail after 6 nights and went straight there for the burgers. Wow, one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The staff was friendly and they even let me use their shower, which is such a treat for a backpacker. read more

We were supposed to stay at the resort last year, but the fires prevented us from doing so. We got to do so exactly one year later. After two days in 105 degree Three Rivers and super crowded Sequoia, it was fantastic making up to cool, uncrowded, friendly Silver City. We were lucky to stay at the Shooting Star Chalet , which was spectacular. The staff was really fantastic to a person, and given the remoteness of the lodge, the food was really, really good. A rustic resort situated in a beautiful mountainside. Although their policy is a two-night minimum stay, they are quite flexible about it and were able to book us in Forest Glen for one night when we called them on the phone. The day of our arrival, we went for a hike in Mineral King and then returned to the resort for a dinner that was quite impressive for the remoteness of the location. The special of the day was salmon with quinoa and vegetables, and it was perfectly cooked. We also got chocolate walnut pie which was quite good but a little too sweet. In our cabin there were two small rooms (a kitchen and a bedroom) with propane lighting and a stove. Initially the matches provided wouldn't light but we were able to get a replacement easily. For showers and toilets you would need to go to the common bathrooms, which were surprisingly clean and well-maintained. read more

Starting with the drive up Mineral KIng road you could guess something special was up. 1&1/2 hours to drive 21 miles! Pulling into Silver City was exciting as could be after that drive. The kids that work there were so personable. Warm and friendly and that is always helpful . The cabin we had White Chief was absolutely great. Plenty of room, clean . Just a great place to rest your head after a day of hiking. Food was really good and if your a carnivore the mountain burger w/porter mustard is out of this world. Cooked to perfection. But again it was the people who worked there that gives Silver City that home away from home feel. You will feel a little sad when you leave. Go! read more

The food was outstanding and worth noting first. For a place so far off the beaten path, that was such a treat. The lodging was also very good. Impeccably clean and well appointed. The only possible (?) negative would be the service. Everyone was extremely nice and very helpful, just not very speedy and a little forgetful at times. The word "aloof" comes to mind but I don't want anyone to think they were uncaring or inattentive. Kind of hard to explain fully. However, if you truly slow down, then you can kind of (maybe) understand why. In the end I would definitely go back. Just know that last 20 miles on Mineral King road will absolutely take you 1 hour :). read more

This is a fantastic lodge in a beautiful peaceful setting just a few miles from the magnificent heart of Mineral King. The staff were universally kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. I'm telling my friends to go there. The road is for real, but if you go slowly and take it one turn at a time, it's kind of fun, and you get used to it - even in the Sprinter I was driving. This mountain resort was amazing! My friend and I stayed in the Forest Glen cabin. One of their historical cabins. It is old, and has its quirks but it is everything you need to feel comfortable. If you are looking for more of an up to date stay, I would definitely recommend one of their beautifully remodeled cabins. We were planning on cooking our own meals, but once we got a taste of their yummy food we ate at the restaurant every meal. Amazing food and amazing staff. Erich helped us the entire time and we couldn't be happier. Him and his dog Bodie were the highlight of our trip! We are already figuring out a date where we can return back! We went to Silver City & checked out the Store/Restaurant out on Thurs 9/1/11. It's in the Mineral King area of Sequoia NP after driving almost 90 minutes on windy, roads. Friend told me about homemade pie & I had to try it. It's $5/slice for their homemade pie. V. wanted the pie w/ rhubarb in it & other fruit called "Fruit of the Forest". It was tasty enough. I saw 4 other pies & they all sounded great: Razzle Dazzle, Nectarine-Berry, Apple, & Chocolate Walnut! They serve other food too. Small store part attached that you can buy some needed supplies. We fell in love with the Mineral King area, so much so that I proposed in the MK Valley. We rented one of the historical cabins, specifically the honeymoon cabin. The historical cabins are rustic. We literally used a rock to keep the front door closed. Be prepared to light propane lamps for light. The cabin itself is drafty and dark but after a nights stay it quickly felt like home and the gas lamps provide a warm and cozy atmosphere. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and cookware. The gas stove works well and there is a charcoal grill for use. The deck is huge and there are a couple of nice pines that were perfect for hanging our hammock next to the cabin. There was a never ending amount of wood for fires and heating. The staff were very friendly and a staff member will stop by every night to make sure you have everything that you need. Zack was super helpful and captivated us with the history of Mineral King. The restaurant is good but don't come with major foodie expectations. They provide a small menu with quality meals. Note* They are actively working on an addition which is going to become a full service restaurant. If you stay in the historical cabins be prepared to use the shared showers/bathrooms. The Women's bathroom has been rebuilt and looks nice. The men's is much more rustic but it does the job and the water is nice and hot. Just know that Silver City is a minimum of 2 hrs away from the main park sites in Sequoia/Kings Canyon. If you want to see the popular tourist spots make sure you stay inside the original park. We camped for two nights in Kings Canyon to explore the parks and then drove to Silver City for the remainder of our stay. The Mineral King Valley was stunning and full of wildlife, beautiful waterfalls, snow capped peaks and desolate hiking. This is the place to be if you want to be away from people. If you want buses, and crowds you stay at Lodgepole, if you want peace, serenity, and some of the most beautiful views in the country you stay at Silver City. We loved Silver City. Just come with the correct expectations. It is not a 5 star resort nor is it meant to be. If you want to completely relax and enjoy the mountains without crowds or technology this is your place. read more

We stayed at the honeymoon (most affordable lol) it was such an amazing experience: sleeping in the forest and waking up with Mother Nature to birds chirping, hearing the little river flowing and actually smelling the pine natural scent, oh-em-gee the staff were awesome, very attentive to our needs and the breakfast was so scrumptious!! I got the avocado toast and it was delightful, full of flavor! Perfect for a morning hike, not too heavy but the bread gives that extra carbs for energy boost, healthy choice.The restrooms are shared but very clean! Our place did have a lock for security, so cute too! We felt like we felt like newlyweds haha There's a fire pit outside but Smokey said not today due to high chances of forest fires. The place is located on a forest so it gets hella cold at night (no wall insulation), the water is freezing and there's no warm water access, there is no TV, no light or any electricity inside. The only wifi available is where you check in/restaurant. But trust me, you will gain a better connection without it thank you Silver City Resort ya'll are the sweetest!! Oh one last thing the drive up to this place is 1.5 hours total full of dangerous mountain curves, please get gas prior because we learned the hard way and don't drive at night, also, another lesson learned! read more

Just got back from our fabulous two night weekend and we highly recommend staying here if you want a near back-country experience without staying in a tent this is the place for you. It's a bit expensive and the drive is quiet a challenge but if you comfortable enough driving on the single lane mountain road without guard-rails near almost drop-offs you'll be alright. Remember to pick up all your food and beverages, otherwise you would have to go back down the 21 mile roller coaster road. Our cabin was clean, without electricity of course but had propane lamps, and there was everything we needed to cook meals . They have full kitchen which is awesome. so you can enjoy breakfast and perhaps dinner by an evening fire. The public restroom and showers were very clean for basically wood sheds in the middle of the woods. I would recommend to take your sheets and towels if you going to this cabins. They do provide sheets but you have to pay $45, so safe some money and their time. The staff was super nice and friendly, for me being so loud and I mean I love to laugh a lot and of course when you in the woods you can hear every whisper, they were nice enough not to say anything but just to check on us to see if everything is OK. Anyways, this place is a definite "come back again" place. Everything was perfect! The cabins were awesome, the pies and coffee was awesome, (we ended up taking a bag with us) the staff was awesome, and of course, the scenery was breath taking!!! A gem in a mountain paradise. I have stayed in Silver City three years in a row with my daughter. You can take your pick from rustic cabin to deluxe villa. Everything is well-accommodated since the amazing remodel some years back. Hannah and her crew do an amazing job with both cabins and the restaurant.
