My son, my mother and I recently stayed at the Gateway Lodge. It was cute and more importantly it was clean. It had all the amenities we needed. There was a balcony outside and we were right on the river. We thoroughly enjoyed just sitting and watching the river spill over the boulders, it was amazing and even the sound was beautiful . We left the windows open so we could hear the sound of the rushing water as we fell asleep. We ate three meals at the restaurant There were three of us so nine meals total and everything was delicious. Entire staff was so sweet. My mother and I are in walkers and there were a few stairs, but they were set up where we were able to make it up and down easily . staff was so friendly offering assistance at every. FIVE STAR FOOD! After a multi hour road trip, my friend and I Denise got here. It was the last intentional spot in our day. But there was something we had not considered, we were going to be going to a place that required us to be fresh and ready to receive the wonder of place by a lack and we only had the energy for an angry stop at a gas station. So this place I visited when I was tired and that kind of gunked up the experience. If I would have gone with more energy to fully open my eyes than this experience would have been wondrous. When I booked the reservation I did it because it was a place by a lake. I enjoy water front dining and I usually use an ocean for scenery and today I was in a place where I could use a large creek. And since I was not going with any specific expectations that lake hit me like a bucket of wow. I remember like seeing the mouth of the lake going down like actual rocks. Like I was seeing the waters that people raft on with commitment to the outdoors. It felt like I had traveled into a place where trees were purest, bird melodies were the only noise in town (besides the water running in the creek), and cabins belonged to those who called the mountains home. I was in a novel and for some reason I felt like it was written by Twain. And that is really what I can say about this place. That is mostly what I remember the beauty of the creek. I wanted to spend more time there, I could have walked it, they had like a lounge but I did not. But I do remember the forested view that went on, and the roaring, jagged leg being a central character other than that I have small things to say. I remember the salad being ok. Denise and I shared a dish, I can't remember why but we did not eat the whole thing. It was inherently bad. But this could have been an off night, or just not the dish of the place, and really you go here for the lake, and the food was great in some ways just not in this specific way. I went to this place a few weeks ago, and, if I had not make it clear I remember the experience of being with the lake. I'm not even sure where to begin. The restaurant itself is cute from the outside, but unfortunately the inside feels very run-down and poorly maintained. We ended up leaving shortly after being seated because the experience was so uncomfortable. The customer service from the two young ladies working was extremely rude and unwelcoming. In fact, the people seated behind us mentioned that interactions with the staff are usually hit or miss, which was disappointing to hear. Customer service plays a huge role in the relationship between a restaurant and its customers. A friendly attitude and welcoming environment can make all the difference. Great place to stop after leaving Sequoia National Park. We sat on the outside patio and the views are gorgeous. We didn't have a reservation since we decided to stop in while driving by but they did ask and said we should make them next time. The service was great. Very quick and friendly. I had the eggplant parm with veggies and twice baked stuffed potato. The eggplant was really good. I was thrilled to see it wasn't breaded. It was cooked really well. Not mushy at all. We really enjoyed our time there again. This time we sat outside with you could hear the water from the waterfall. The food it's always on point. Great place next to Sequoia National Park. It's right outside the gate of Sequoia National Park. The restaurant is so cool, it is next to a lake. There are even ducks down by the lake. We ordered Baked Brie $20. It was ok. The Baked Brie was good. Soft cheese with a crispy almond crust. The jam was really good too. But the bread was just plain bread. Nothing special. Sequoia Burger $23 was good. It didn't look at good, cuz the bun and lettuce wasn't put together, but it was good. Literal perfection - this tucked-away gem is a MUST VISIT if you're in the Sequoia area! The crab cakes were truly exceptional - delicious, clearly fresh, and great flavor. Best French dip I've ever had (and I've had many) - perfectly seasoned au jus, tender meat, PERFECT bread. The homemade chips were AMAZING - crispy, perfectly salted, clearly made with love. Even the house made fries were incredible. My husband's burger was also phenomenal - juicy, well-seasoned, quality beef you can taste. Basically, everything we tried was outstanding. Gateway delivered on every single dish. Service was top-notch as well. Everyone we encountered was friendly, on-the-ball, orders up in a timely manner. That was just a cherry on the top though because the food and views were the main attraction. Speaking of the views - wow!! The trees, the river, the bridge, the sunset, the patio overlooking the babbling brook, the scenery truly steals the show. Was this heaven? It really gave me a sense of serenity, joy, and peace just to take it all in. We're definitely going to stay at the lodge the next time we're in the area as well. This my first time dinning here and let me tell you it was amazing. We arrived without a reservation and the staff were amazing. They let us know there was a large amount of people ahead of us but if we waited at the bar they would try and accommodate our large party of 8. They sure did! We had drinks at the very well stocked bar and in 15-20 minutes they had a table for us in the banquet room. We had the entire banquet room to ourselves which was very nice. The food was delicious and prices were fair. We asked about seating outside by the river and all our questions were answered. If you want a table by the river call ahead and make a reservation. But we will definitely be returning to this place. It is a little hidden treasure that is super close to Sequoia National Park. Beautiful view overlooking the Kaweah River, from inside as well. Our guests from Italy raved about the pancakes, hash browns, and CHICKEN FRIED STEAK. Fantastic breakfast for everyone with the "Traditional Three Rivers Breakfast", "Peacock Omelette" & crispy bacon hitting the mark. as i walked in this place, my first impression was the cozy ambiance and scenic view of the river. however, my praise for this place just about stops there... many of the front employees looked frazzled and confused of what to do. the employee at the bar (who i can only assume to be their manager?) kept asking them questions to see if they had room for my group and neither of them knew how to answer. eventually we got seated by a different host; we had to wait for a bit but i didn't mind. i'm not sure if it was just bad timing on our part or a bigger, more consistent issue. either way, once we got sat outside the service improved, so i appreciate that for the food, it was just alright and honestly costly for how it tastes. i split the vegetable pizza with a friend and it was fine. others got the blt with soup and it looked like a really small portion. my friend said ants were on the bread that came with his escargot. he, for some reason, decided not to tell anyone including us, so i don't know any more about this. i would say skip if you are coming back from sequoia and are looking for somewhere to fill up. read more

Don't let the front of this restaurant fool you, it's huge!! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, we had no issue getting a table on a Wednesday evening. Definitely sit out on the deck by the river, the view is gorgeous. Taylor had us laughing all night long, he was the best server!! He made sure all of our food was made to order (thanks for the Parmesan!). The Marsala pasta with chicken was great and I had enough to take home for dinner the next night too. We thankfully came before the morning rush and were given a table right next to the river. By the time we finished at 9:30 AM, the parking lot was packed. *Three Rivers Traditional Breakfast: we ordered sunny side up eggs but they came out over easy. The server offered to take it back but we kept them. But everything else was decent. The hash browns were fried well and nicely seasoned with salt and pepper. The bacon was crispy and they glistened with grease. The fruit was lukewarm and the pineapple tasted better than the cantaloupe. Even without the syrup, there was a sweet smell to the pancakes. Very thick and fluffy. *Two Eggs, Bacon and Potatoes: I got my eggs scrambled and they were light in texture and flavor. I definitely leaned on ketchup for some seasoning. *Muffins: all entrees came with a banana muffin. These were buttery and sweet. They were a bit dry but nothing the side of butter couldn't fix. However, we were seated and we waited for 20 minutes with no waiter but one of the clean up crew served us. Came back with our food which was under cooked and there was mold on the napkins and forks were dirty and we wanted refills but the other waiters ignored us. They never came by to check on us for the whole hour was weird. This place was kind of suspicious to begin with because there was no price to the entres so in the end we had to pay $300!! Yes, the view is unique and so all our repeat guests want to eat there. Being a healthy vegan, there are no options for me, other than a not-so-great salad and a Beyond burger. So, they lose a party of six over and over, because they don't have options for a single vegan in the party. I have asked many times. It's a shame that restaurant owners don't consider that they lose a lot more customers than just the occasional vegan. A small seven room lodge with a full-service restaurant, the Gateway Restaurant & Lodge in Three Rivers, California offers good dining and accommodations as close to Sequoia National Park as one could be without being in the park. We stopped by for a Sunday brunch and found the food and service to be good, with a unique backdrop situated near the rushing water of the Kaweah River. The lodge is located right on Sierra Drive, right after crossing the Pumpkin Hollow Bridge while heading towards the Southern entrance to the national park. Parking is tricky: we got lucky to find a spot but probably would have skipped it if all spots were occupied. We didn't have a reservation, but was able to be immediately seated at an indoor table. Next time, we would request for a table on the outdoor patio (just to experience something different), noting that it is quite loud from the rushing river waters below. In this area, there was no cell service so the provided free wifi was a great addition to our meal. Sunday morning is brunch time, and everybody is requested to order from the brunch menu: Adults $31, children under 12 $18. It comes with a Southern baked apple, beignets (on this day, it was filled with lemon curd), choice of 9 entrees, side of hash browns, and unlimited champagne (or orange mimosa). My wife and her mom both got the same thing: scrambled eggs with tiger shrimp wrapped in bacon. The shrimp was cooked well, and both ladies enjoyed the saltiness of the crispy bacon with the sweetness of the seafood. I chose a Grizzly Bear Omelet, a two egg mix that had a mix of various meats and diced vegetables spooned in the middle (i.e. it wasn't mixed with the egg batter, but instead added as a filling for the folded over product), with melted cheese covering the finished product. I asked for some salsa, and it was good with it. There are differences on how scrambled eggs are prepared, and I thought the version was average. Not being a fan of cooked fruit, I appreciated being able to sample the baked apple, which had hints of cinnamon and sugar. The beignet was good, obviously freshly made. Each plate also came with a few pieces of honeydew, along with some good crispy hash browns. Service was prompt and friendly throughout. It was busy, so couldn't stop by as often as some would want for an AllYouCanDrink brunch, but we were fine with it. All in all, a good experience with some unique views. read more

Came in on a Friday night for a 6 o'clock reservation. Got pretty lucky with parking right up front which was nice. We walked in and there was a male and female host who took a second to greet us. It seemed as if the male was training her. We told them we had a reservation for 6 o'clock and he confirmed and asked if I made it for inside. I told him I'm pretty sure I made it for outside (why would someone come to a restaurant that riverside and make a reservation for inside when it's as dingy as it is). He proceeded to tell me "nope looks like you made it for inside" the woman stopped him and said "wait I thought i saw it say outside" and pointed to the screen. He continued to repeat himself "nope she made it online and she reserved it for inside" as if no one standing here heard him the first 3 times he said it. His demeanor not only towards my husband and I but also his coworker was just bizarre and kind of hostile. He then said he could accommodate us but we would has to sit on the front patio not the back (which was fine, whatever) AT THE END OF ALL OF THIS BACK AND FORTH I LOG INTO THE WIFI AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW?! I MADE THE RESERVATION FOR OUTSIDE. Idk why he would sit there and argue over where we made our reservation or why he was trying to convince us that we were wrong, clearly he knows that no one has service up here to double check their reservations but I hope it brought him joy or made his job easier I guess? Maybe I should've trusted the reviews that claimed this restaurant was discriminatory. We sat down and our waiter Wyatt was very nice, took our order and checked on us regularly. My bf got a steak meal for $50, and it was super fatty and burnt! How does that happen lol. He got a filet mignon and vegetables on the side. The broccoli was completely undercooked and brown. No salt, nothing on it with some baby carrots on the side also hard. The filet was fair. Thank goodness his entire birthday meal wasn't ruined. It was pricey for the quality. They were out of the only two desserts we would have chosen. What a tragedy. I've always loved the food here. Yes it's pricey, you are not only paying for the view, but usually the food is fantastic. That was until my visit Saturday 1/10/2026. I was shocked to see the place was pretty empty. The food was not just bad, it was downright inedible. We started with the melted brea, it was a cold lump of cheese served with wheat sandwich bread. I got the steak which was in seasoned and tough. Wife got the blackened salmon, again unseasoned and gray. I'm not sure what happened here, it was always a go to spot for date night but my oh my has the place gone downhill. It's been a minute since I felt compelled to do a review. But after eating here I had to post something. It looks like the owner is very responsive so maybe she will respond, not by a reply, but just setting up some cleaning. Visiting from out of town and saw a couple recommendations to go to this restaurant. Was actually pretty excited to go and when my wife asked, do you want to sit inside or outside, I said no you have to sit outside. That's the whole point of this place is the Riverside view. Let me start by saying the service was great, I don't even know what to say about the food, because I couldn't get it out of my head that the preparation may be lazy and not following proper code. This is all deduced by how extremely dirty the outside is. The entire fence enclosure was layered with spiders and webs. We're not talking about new webs. I mean they look like they've been there for months. This is literally 6 inches away from me as I'm sitting at the table next to the railing. You start to look around and you see these star shaped chandeliers, and these have what looks like years worth of webs. Then you look at the windows, extremely dirty with webs, dirt, grime. And then it's just everywhere you look, underneath the station, the floors, etc. We should've got up and left, but I thought I was maybe being a a boujee out of towner. Honestly, I'm surprised somebody from the environmental health department has not shut them down. So anyways. Terrible dinner. Could not stop thinking about this as I was eating my red snapper and avoided my vegetables. Pretty disappointing. read more

Took my mom to lunch. The customers next to us had a sick child who was throwing up all over and staff were unresponsive. We literally had to get up and leave on our own because of the smell and none responsive staff. They did give us 10% of but up charged us on a New York be course they said they only had prime. Nothing feels better than getting bent over by the vendors you try to support. I hate Mc Donald's but I would rather get screwed over for less than $140.00 bucks for 2 people.
