We went on a charter last weekend with Captain Gary and First Mate RJ. Beautiful, crisp, day and the weather was beautiful on the water. First couple hours started out a little slow, but we then had a flurry of fishing in the last 4 hours of our charter and we ended up maxing out our quota! Photos below. We are super loyal to this company and anyone who expects a perfect charter doesn't know fishing, weather, and circumstances can change on a dime. We have enjoyed our time with Captain Gary, Calvin, and RJ on each of the times we have been out together. The trip itself was pretty non stop, although we had to throw a number of fish back due to the size limits we had a pretty continuous flow of catches for the entire 5 hours that we were out there. Walt & Bruce will be the first stop next time I need a charter in the Cleveland area & I'd recommend to anyone who's looking for a great captain to take them out.

I didn't think this would take…read more2 hours,, but the cruise goes at a leisurely pace with pre-recorded audio explaining the history of the city and buildings as we pass by. Informative and interesting. After the city views, the boat continues to cruise around in the lake, which is why this takes 2 hours. We started boarding around 2:30pm for a 3pm cruise. I would get there earlier to park in their lot. You can easily pay with credit card. Parking was around $14 for 2.5 hours. Perfect for a 2 hour cruise with a little buffer if you want to walk in the area for a bit after. The ship has three floors. The main floor you enter on is enclosed and has AC. On a hot afternoon, this was the place to be! Plenty of large windows to see the sights and large tables with chairs. I believe there is a ramp to enter onto the main floor. Making it accessible for wheelchairs too. Kid friendly as well. There is a canteen where you may purchase snacks. They allow you to bring a water bottle, but I believe no food unless you have medical reasons or it is for your child. We all got ice cream to enjoy during the cruise. Restrooms also on this floor. Take the stairs up (a little steep) and you'll be on level 2, which is open air. This floor has front seating, a bar area, and back area with tables and chairs. A nice option for those that want fresh air and prefer to be outside. I believe there is a third floor that is open as well. We did not venture further up as this was perfect. Staff was friendly. We had a 'good time' on the Goodtime 3!

The Great Lakes part was slightly unpleasant for my sea sick prone self, but the river portion was calm and fun. You see a lot of canoes and bars along the way and they are always happy to see the GT3. They offer food, ice cream treats and drinks on various levels. The first level is enclosed, the second is open air (but covered) and the third is totally open. The first floor bathrooms are a very pleasant surprise. The sinks have soap, water and dryer all built in and touchless. The mirrors even let you control the brightness. What a fun and pleasant surprise. I was a little nervous about taking my son to the restroom on a boat, but all good! Overall, such a great option - especially to add on to the rock and roll hall of fame or other downtown outings.

It was pretty busy, so I had to wait in a short line to buy. It's nice to see a proper bait shop. They sell rods, reels, and other fishing tackle. They have different types of live bait. If you're going fishing in Lake Erie, this bait shop is a must visit.

It is small, but they have all of the necessary gear to fish Lake Erie or to head down to your local pond. I was disappointed with the minnows. They were very small and not hearty at all. I had a bucket with aerator and they didn't even last a few hours. I have had minnows from other shops in those buckets for a few days at a time. All in all, however, it is one of the only options in the area.

My family has boated at Romp's for 20+ years. They coin themselves as the "Family Fun Marina" -…read morewhich couldn't be more true. In addition to dockage, they have a swimming pool, tennis court, on-site putt-putt course, large picnic area and ice cream shop. If it's a bad boating day, there are more then enough activities to keep kids occupied. Romp's itself is located on the Vermilion River, just minutes onto the lake. The location is perfect, and the cruise out of the marina is actually quite enjoyable--lots of good people and boat watching! The marina is also just a short walk/drive to beautiful downtown Vermilion, and to the nearby beach. If you're a hardcore boater, you'll be so happy to know that Romp's cares about every one of their members. They know everyone by name and boat, and are always super fast and communicative if an issue arises, or if they are assisting you with repairs. The owners can also be seen constantly zipping around this large property on their golf cart... don't be shy to say hello!
