Very disappointed with the service I received here and especially my last visit. I brought my puppy there several times before I decided to groom him myself and I have done so for the past 3 years. After having two consecutive major surgeries, I needed help with him and made an appointment. Sadly, it was the worst groom. It felt like I was being "punished" for me grooming him myself as I hadn't been there for a few years! Strange. The Dog House may be the worst pet groomer not only on The Cape, perhaps anyplace. We had been going to Cheryl on and off for 1 year while on Cape. The only reason we went to her as she the ONLY person with availability, now we know why One of our dogs had a matted tail and Cheryl refused to groom him. it is my understanding that you go to a dog groomer to get your dog groomed, Am I missing something? This was only after she was very snippity with me via text. I would never recommend Cheryl and wish I had read all the negative reviews prior to going. read more

I have found a place I'm comfortable taking my aging cat to be groomed. They keep her only an hour. I know she hates to be done, but they always graciously say she a nice cat. It's easy to drop her and pick her up. Staff is friendly and the dogs looked happy. read more

Cheryl is an experienced, competent and compassionate service Provider. I approach services for my four-legged family members the same way I would if looking for daycare options for a small child. Our first fur-baby, our (then) 14 year old Shih Tzu had severe allergies and hair loss. Cheryl was amazingly gentle and calming while working with him. Whenever we brought him in, we could barely restrain him from getting to Cheryl. She took the time he needed to care for him properly, given his hair challenges. He had a final grooming with her (at 17) before we took him to the Rainbow Bridge. She cried as much as we did. We waited a little over a year before making the decision to get another dog. A Shih Tzu mixed rescue, renamed Chewbacca. While in different foster homes for almost two years, he definately had some serious trust issues but he really needed grooming. He was a little aggressive but was slowly learning to trust his new Mom, Dad and his older brother, 12 year old (abandoned while moving) kitty, Leonardo DiCatprio. Leo took to him and I think he realized his new brother had come from a difficult situation. They sleep in beds next to each other. Cheryl took him as her last appointment of the day. She said his mats were so bad that he really would not be able to settle into the time it would take for his hair to be done. Shaved down. Bathed twice. He had an appointment with the Vet the following day. Cheryl suggested they check his right ear. She thought it might be infected. She was right. Chewbacca was much better after his ear treatment along with new healthier food, shots, some toys and his medication. His hair/fur and nails have never been better. He still forgets sometimes but he is easily reminded. He has added an abudance of love to our family. He loves Cheryl and will quickly roll over onto his back for belly tickles. Thank you Cheryl for taking such good care of our fur-babies. Your gentle care has really helped Chewbacca to settle in and allow us to love him. My regular groomer was booked weeks in advance so I had to call around and find another in my area. I had asked for recommendations on Facebook and The Dog House was suggested a few times. I called and booked my appointment. A few hours before we were scheduled to come in I received a phone call letting me know that my dog was ready to be picked up... but my dogs hadn't even gone in yet. I found it odd but thought it might be an honest mistake. I brought my dogs in to be groomed, had their vaccine paperwork in hand ready to go but was never asked for it. The place was pretty dirty, hair everywhere, the front lobby area was dirty and gross. When the groomer wrote down my callback number I realized why I was called earlier for the wrong dog; she had a notebook page completely full of writing and scribbled my number on the side of the page. The place seemed hectic and extremely disorganized. I was told they would be done in "about an hour" which seemed extremely fast for two dogs but they absolutely needed to be groomed so I left them. I left, was called back in an hour and a half. My dogs seemed more nervous than usual but that could be attributed to a new environment, new people etc. I picked up my youngest dog and got completely covered in hairs, they were all over me, a ridiculous amount. Her hair was totally screwed up, short to the skin in some spots, 2 inch long hairs left in others, she didn't smell good, some of her nails were trimmed, her ears weren't thoroughly cleaned & she still had eye gunk. My older dog was somewhat better but still a weird shape cut with uneven areas, she didn't smell clean and her nails were also unevenly trimmed. The bandana that was tied on her neck was WAY TOO tight... I couldn't even fit one pinky finger under it & was knotted on real good, I actually to cut it as soon as we got home because I couldn't untie it. I was charged $110 and normally that price would be reasonable but I walked out feeling like I paid way too much for what was done. I should also add that my dogs are easy to groom as they go regularly, were not matted or filthy. The job seemed rushed at best and I would even say it was carelessly done. Do not use this groomer. My dog (Yorkie/Chihuahua) had an appointment in February. When we entered, we saw that the place had been renovated and additional personnel were working there than before. When I was asked what needed to be done by the owner, I said that I liked what they had done the previous time and specifically said do not shave him only clip him and also told them about how I wanted his face done. Well, when I picked him up, his body had been completely shaved up to the backs of his ears which included the beautiful mane on his neck. Additionally, whomever shaved him did not know what they were doing as it was shaved in several different directions. The areas around his muzzle and face are chopped..... It will take months for his face to grow in so someone can correct it. His mane may take years as it was shaved down to the skin. The hair on the top of his head sticks straight up (even after 5 weeks) due to how they shaved up to the back of his ears and chopped his facial hair. I sent messages, left a vm and have not heard from them in over a month. There's not much that can be done at this point. Additionally, he did not behave as himself for several days and appeared to be emotionally traumatized to go anywhere with me in a car or have his ears touched. He's never behaved that way before. Additionally, they had him in a cage under the front desk so all he could see were feet and hear voices which I am certain also frightened him. read more

Not happy at all with my Australian Shepherds cut today. I'm certain the hair around his toes was cut and he was brushed and bathed, a little bit of a trim around his "nub/tail", but no trimming apparently anywhere else. I took him home and took out my own grooming kit and trimmed up his rear end and belly side. For the money I paid, including a nice tip, I should have been as pleased as a pig in s... I rarely take the time to write a review, but I must after this experience. I am not a full-time resident of Mashpee so getting grooming appointments for my cavapoo is near impossible. I finally stopped in. The owner offered me a time slot since she had hired additional help. I was like a nervous mother because I was bringing in a heavily matted dog. I begged them to try not to shave her. They took 3.5 hours and made her gorgeous. Obviously that has a price, but it was fair. I can not say enough about the patience, quality, and professionalism I experience. I am truly grateful. read more

When we went to pick up our dog after his grooming, we were informed that he is not allowed back for services because he was barking often/was too loud. Clean and straight to the point! I walked in with Cheryl welcoming my two dogs she's never met and they were well taken care of and groomed. My older husky mix tends to need extra attention because she's a senior and I felt comfortable leaving know that she would get special attention. They both smell and looks fabulous! I have a new puppy that I was extremely anxious to have groomed for the first time. She's 7 months old and needed a good trim with nail clipping - her little nails are super sharp. This place is a hidden gem as far as the world of dogs go. It can be tricky to find (and I almost confused it with one across the street) so turn left onto Old Brickyard Rd. from 151 and make another immediate left into the parking lot. There is a hair salon right next to it as well as a few other small stores. The signage from the street and on the building is small. I dropped my Pekingese off for an 11:30 appointment (which I was able to make that morning) and picked him up an hour later after a phone call that he was ready. I asked for a flea bath, puppy cut, and nail trim and when I came through the door he looked absolutely adorable! She did a great job and had extremely reasonable rates. She was sweet with him, he was happy and content and got to pick out a toy from the basket :) We vacation around the corner for the summer and love to bring our dog but he gets very hairy and sheds up a storm so a groomer is a must for us during our summers on the cape. We will definitely make this place our new summer groomer! read more

She was able to fit my pup in and for a very reasonable price and does a great job. I moved from NJ and havent found a groomer as good as my groomer in NJ, but she definitely came the closest! Do not bring your dog here. We took our dog right after COVID restrictions were lifted. We were able to get an appointment fairly quickly which should have been a red flag. She was pretty matted at her paws and kind legs but we had kept up with the rest of her. We asked them not to shave her to the skin on her body but it was ok for her paws if necessary. They shaved her everywhere as short as possible And she was uneven all over. She still had a mat under her belly. I believe they didn't even bathe her or clip her nails. She was there only 90 minutes which is exceptionally fast even for a regular appointment before the COVID shut down!! Very unhappy. And they were the same price I pay for my normal grooming appointments. Do not go there. Lots of other good groomers in the area such as Captivating Canines who groomed my friends dog and did a great job. Same type of dog and he was there for 4 hours. read more

We recently moved to the area, and I was so happy to have discovered this groomer after trying several other local businesses. I just love them! They calm my skittish dog right down and treat her so well. My cat has long fur that gets matted very easily, and they are able to shave him down a bit so that he looks just beautiful. They handle him very gently and are extra sweet to him. Definitely will keep coming back here - I just can't recommend them enough. read more

My groomer got sick. I had to searched for a qualified pet groomer. I found Cheryl and checked the reviews, they are all 5 stars. My 110 lb. German Shepard needed to be groomed in a bad way. He just had A.C.L. surgery with 12 weeks of recovery. Cheryl removed excess fur, bathed him, cleaned his ears and cut his nails. She did a fantastic job. He's a new dog.
