Spring Break means tattoo time and my daughter called and got an appointment for the day after we arrived. I didn't get one because my husband wasn't with us and we usually do them as a family. But ny daughter got one completed that was started before and Jackie the artist was kind enough to also go over another one that was a bit faded. Both were done quickly and at a reasonable price. I never remember that they take cash only (not even Zelle) but they have an ATM. This is currently the only tattoo shop in Lake Geneva and being right downtown it's very convenient. We called ahead of time for a piercing and they said they had availability for a piercing. They elaborated that we needed to be there before they close at 8pm. We made it there by 6:45. Walked in and said we were here for piercing and they said they were too busy for the piercing. There was nobody in the shop and 3-4 staff members standing around saying they were too busy. Poor service and super rude. Not welcoming and super rude. Terrible business for someone located in a busy downtown. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have walked into multiple establishments in way busier towns and had zero problems getting good service. Terrible experience for someone wanting this kind of service. Shameful. read more

Got my 3rd, 4th and and 5th tattoos from Lake Geneva Tattoo last fall and last month. They took the time to take my photos, resize and make sure I like them before proceeding. I can't remember the nice quiet woman who did my arm last fall. It meant a lot to me since it was my grandmas handwriting who passed away 10 years ago. Vince just did my Pisces and Aquarius constellation pieces and he was awesome also. I went with some friends both times and theirs turned out amazing as well. We got thorough care instructions and purchased our tattoo goo last session and still have plenty left. We made our reservations in advance and didn't have to wait and the prices were reasonable. The overall feel and experience we had was terrible. The piercer never discussed a choice of jewelry first, and proceeded to pierce my son's lobes with rings. There was zero communication before, during and after the piercing. He didn't even hand him a mirror or direct him to one to take a look at the piercing after he was finished. My son has wanted his ears pierced for a couple years now, so we surprised him for his birthday. We celebrated his birthday in Lake Geneva, so we thought that getting his piercing while we were still in Lake Geneva, would be the perfect way to end the weekend. HUGE mistake!! When I looked at the back of both lobes, both piercings were at a drastic downward angle . I then proceeded to call my local piercer, who told us to come in right away. We then purchased the correct jewelry (studs as opposed to rings) and my son ended up needing to get both lobes re-pierced because of the angle they were pierced at. Went through a great deal of gauze to stop the bleeding from the left ear before re-piercing it, which my son said during the initial piercing at lake Geneva tattoo and piercing, he could feel the needle get stuck, and the piercer jammed it the rest of the way through. Needless to say this was far from the experience we were hoping for. I will NEVER recommend Lake Geneva Tattoo and Piercing. So extremely disappointed. 1 star is too high of a rating! read more

However, my husband and I met a girl at a Bar down the street and a few of her tattoos were from here and they looked great. We decided to head over and I ended up getting my tattoo. The owner is who he is. He's honest and to the point. Yes he smokes, that didn't bother us. He swore, but shit we do too. The lady who was there was friendly and the guy Vincent who did mine was great. In my experience I don't know many tattoo artists who are full of rainbows and butterflies coming out of their asses. I don't understand this place. First of all, I have waiting a month to write this and my tattoo is still peeling. I made it VERY clear that this was my first tattoo in 10 years and they gave me ZERO after care instructions... had to look online and ask friends. The guy was irritated with me the whole time because I was really nervous and unsure if I was going to do it that day. Finally, my tiny arrow ($45) is incomplete. there is one line on the arrow head that isn't straight and is so thin it looks unfinished. There was someone after me with a big tattoo that they wanted and I understand my little arrow isn't such a big deal... but still. I felt like a nuisance instead of a customer. Really unhappy considering a lot of people I know have come here for tattoos. We drove about an hour to get there too so it's not like I can just pop on by and get it fixed. Ugh. read more

I have been to this place 3 times. Once foe a tattoo.. I have 3. The one i got there i bled and the blood stayed there for a few days. I dont know if this is normal but it has never happned for me before. I had also gotten my nose pierced there. They sold me this saline spray and a tattoo goo in a tube for pericings. After getting an infection another artist from a different shop told me that he SHOULD NOT have given me this as tattoo goo smothers the piercing. So i used my own cleaning method and it worked. I just got a belly button piercing from them within the last few months. Again, infected. I didn't use the stuff again this time. They gave me a hoop piercing instead of your normal belly piercing. This is a long time coming. I priced up my tattoos (6" long on forearm) probably sometime back in May 2017. I checked out a well-known place in Crystal Lake that some of my friends have gotten tats from, good looking ones. The price, imo, was outrageous. I checked with Lake Geneva Tattoo and not only were they less than half the price I was quoted at the other place, they did not have a ridiculous wait, either. I was able to get my appointment for the following month (there were earlier times, that was just a personal choice). Dan was my tat guy. Very professional and friendly. Serious about his work and his creative side, as seen by the sketches on his wall, but he does not act like logos are beneath him, which I greatly appreciated. It took about maybe 1.5 hours to do my tat. Dan could tell that towards the end, my pain tolerance had hit its limit and he quickly finished filling in my RHCP asterisk. He explained the after care procedures and included a card that had the same instructions. Once I was healed up, I was able to make another appointment to come in for touch-ups. The whole process was painless (not including the tattooing, that part hurts a bit). I was in and out without forking over a whole paycheck. Dan's genuine, so I highly recommend him, but I'm sure all are legit. Keep in mind, this place is CASH ONLY. read more

This was my second visit to Lake Geneva Tattoo, which also sometimes goes by Lil' Greg's Tattoo. My first tattoo there was done ten years ago by Chicago Ed. Yesterday I received my second, by Lil' Greg, and am IN LOVE. The first tat still looks just as good as it did on day one and I have total confidence that the second one will look as good ten years from now as it does today. Why? Because Lil' Greg makes 'em that way. He's one of the last remaining "old school" artists, trained by the guys that made the swallow tattoos you see on all the girls nowadays popular the first time around. He knows his shit and he's been doing it for well over twenty years. What's more is that he could charge custom outrageous prices, but he keeps it reasonable. The man is a genius. Mom and Auntie got tats too. Both of theirs were done by Alan, who's a wiz with the small details. My mom's bracelet tattoo looks damn near real. Fantastic. I've been here previously years ago for a piercing. I love this place for piercings! (Haven't gotten a tattoo here so cannot vouch for that personally.) I appreciate the prices for their piercings. Seriously, $60 for a simple little lip piercing? (After calling around some). $20 sounds way more better and I guarantee you there's not much difference in product. They were busy today, so I was lucky to get in. I felt kinda bad that they were swamped but hey I was only in town until tomorrow! Haha. Vince totally helped me out and was efficient in the piercing, not only that but was great with sanitation. Seemed like a nice dude too. He marked down two spots for me and asked which side looked better for my lip piercing.. And I decided! I loved it.. But then hours later the perfectionist in me was kinda wishing I chose the other spot. No big deal! I'm very indecisive. I would give 5 stars however I was bothered by another employee who was smoking in the shop. Who does that? Smoke can irritate broken skin from piercings or tattoos. Came in for my first tattoo ever with my girlfriend. We both actually got out first tattoos that day. We were able to get right in and felt very welcome. The artwork done was amazing. I had my first tattoo done here a few years ago by Greg and loved it, so when I decided to get another one it was a no brainer, but to go back. Bad move. I now have a service animal to help with a medical issue and he nearly went nuts about her being there. I am fully aware of how ADA works, and when I pulled up the ADA site which explained everything he got huffy and started making all these calls, leaving the poor guy who was going to do my work kind of in the dark. He would also got upset when I said that if need be I would call the Department of Justice, and mocked my saying so when on a call to disprove me. I did call the ADA hotline and they told me that he was wrong and that I was remembering the laws properly. Meanwhile he was told the same thing by one of his employees and by someone on the phone and he was not happy, at all. I did get my tat done, but I swear he jacked the price in spite. The one on my back is a heck of a lot bigger and more detailed than the simple script I had done on my arm and it was nearly the price of the elaborate one. He then when to ask what service dogs do, which he can legally ask as he was not asking about my situation, and was very clear on his thoughts on the subject..which is not very good. There are two more pieces that I wanted to have done, but I will not be going back; which is a shame because the guy that did it was really nice and did good work. read more

My first tattoo was done here by Chicago Ed. Funny guy! Had my tattoo done on my foot and it's pretty big so he had to take a few breaks. But the tattoo turned out amazing and was decently priced. A year later, I came back for another tattoo, this one was done by Alan on the back of my neck. He was fantastic. He did really nice shading and knew exactly what I wanted, and was really friendly. I didn't have an appointment either time. The first time it wasn't a problem, the shop was pretty empty and I was one of the last customers of the night. The second time I waited about an hour and a half, but not because of the staff. The customer ahead of me kept crying during the tattoo so inevitably the artist stopped....and let the guy get himself together. haha. Decently priced for the quality of tattoos that I have gotten. I asked to pierce my nipples with bar bells and he told me no.... for cleaning purposes so I went along with it. Called three other shops and read pages and pages of blogs online on how any TRUE professional would never start off with a hoops for nipple piercings. Every shop I called was genuinely upset he did that. So I called back and asked for him to change them and he said NO!!! So now I have to pay someone else to fix the problem!!!!!
