We had a wonderful July 2023, 5 day stay, & are returning the end of August for another 5 days…read more (Friends are going for their 1st time in their RV). Pool & game room nice. Office help very nice. Sites are wooded & large, bathrooms were clean. The roads are unpaved but good condition. The only negative was traffic noise from 87 through the woods. Close to LG Village. Close to the restaurant, Olde Log Cabin. (Closed Monday's).

This business is absolutely shady and our vacation hasn't even started yet and we have had all…read morekinds of headache already. When I booked out vacation for the 4th of July, I selected our dates of arrival n departure, the website clearly has a big blue button that says availability ends on july 9 2025, if I speak English correctly that means it's available only until the 9. I clicked on the big blue button takes me to the middle of the next page where it says book now, I clicked book now and the very next page just asks for your payment information, what I did not know was that the website changed the dates to 07/06 instead of check in 07/04 like I entered, I received the confirmation email with the wrong date so I called them immediately and Mary who answered the phone said sorry too bad no refunds on holidays! I tried to explain to her and she wasn't caring one bit about it, gaslighting me to the best of her ability. She then said well I can change the site for it I ended up having to pay more money for an RV site cuz was the only thing available besides a plain site without W&E like I had already paid for. Then I went to look some of the reviews and I saw a picture and the RV site is gravel, she never mentioned that to me I asked her how am I going to put a tent on top of gravel??' Again their response is that that's none of their problem they already took my money if I want to come good if not good, they do not care! I made a complaint with BBB for the way that they have been conducting business and misleading and cheating on people! Save yourself the headache and book your trip else where! * by the way the video was done today about 2 weeks after all this happened. To this day they are still taking bookings for dates that aren't available and switching it over without showing the customers!! Be aware!

It's that time of the year when the motorcycles climb out of the garage and decide to head to Lake…read moreGeorge to be let loose and set free. This time instead of getting a hotel room costing me an arm and a leg I decided to go to the state hearth stone campground. For just a mere 20 bucks a night I was able to secure a nice wooded space for myself and my awesome ride. Only about 2 miles from the village it is an easy commute to where all the action is happening. Have to say it was a beautiful evening of relaxing pleasure while at the campground.

The manager named "Ed" was extremely difficult. I would not recommend to camp here until he leaves,…read moreespecially while Covid is going on. We had a particularly bad interaction with him in the swimming area. He came up to us, well within 6ft with no mask on, immediately yelling that this area was a "no swim zone." We politely asked him to put a mask on or please back up. We tried to explain we didn't feel safe at the beach area due to the large crowd. We walked to the front to ask the staff where we should swim to socially distance. They suggested the picnic area to us. His response to us was "well I'm in charge, I don't care about a mask and will evict you if I see any of you in the water." It was pretty harsh. We weren't the only group that had an issue with Ed. It was a known joke among several different groups in the camping/beach area we overheard/spoke to that you had to "watch out for him." We have some friends who recommended Hearthstone since they had been camping there for over 20 years and they mentioned that it's never been like that in the past. They said it was Ed's first year on the job and he was brutal towards all the campers and staff. We saw the rest of the weekend Ed consistently break the 6ft barrier, never having a mask on and talking/yelling at all different patrons. Even in the check in area where a mask is required, he was sitting in the 6 x 10 ft enclosed area with no mask on while campers checked in. The rest of the staff was great. Everyone was wearing masks from the front desk area, assistant manager, maintenance teams, campfire wood drop off team, etc. Ed was the only one who was difficult but was also the one closely interacting with the most people. We won't be returning as long as he is managing the campground.

The Whippoorwill Motel and Campsites is an amazing quaint place to stay while visiting Lake George…read moreand the Adirondacks! We stayed here two nights at the beginning of August (2019) and couldn't have had a better experience. The new owners took over just two months prior, so they are busy doing upgrades to the camp office and store and around the campground. The upgrades being made did not impact the quality of camp sites or other facilities. Additionally, the personal attention provided by Will and his father made us feel like regulars. Will's father greeted me by name every time he saw me and would stop what he was doing to chat. We stayed at one of the full hookup sites during this visit. There are less than 50 total sites in the campground and only a hand-full had full hookups. Most did have water and electric. The sites are VERY Level, good sized, close, but spacious enough to have an enjoyable stay without being on top of each other. The cottages and motel looked nice from the outside. There is a nice sized and landscaped swimming pool, game room, and large community fire pit to enjoy. The location of the campground is ideal. Only two miles south of Lake George and a few miles north of the Outlet Mall. Another amenity is the paved bike path that goes along the back of the campground and runs between Lake George and Glen Falls. This was a great amenity and can help avoid all the traffic at Lake George by riding bikes into town. Overall this was a great place to stay to explore the area. Being smaller in size meant less traffic and noise, but didn't mean less enjoyment. The campground and buildings were well maintained and conveyed a welcoming atmosphere. The one area where Whippoorwill is lacking is the camp store/office, but this is the area they are currently updating so I expect great things in the future. We look forward to returning in the future.

We paid less for 5 nights than you would pay for two nights at a cheap motel. Tina was very helpful and accommodating. If you want to be on your phone and computer all the time, stay home or go to a hotel. This place is for getting away and enjoying the beautiful trees, mountains, and lakes of the Adirondacks. You most likely will not get cell service there. If you need it, you can get wifi at the rec hall. It is close to Lake George and not far from I 87 to travel to points north like Lake Schroon and Lake Placid. We made some life-long friends during our week at Mt. Kenyon campground. I will definitely be back.

But, this place says when you drive up that They have free wifi but it does not say that the signal ends 5feet from the front entrance. So this place basically had no wifi, the people who own it are very nice and helpful. But they told us as soon as we arrived there is no cell phone reception whatsoever throughout the campground. Yeah I wasn't too happy. The general store was over priced, 2.25 for a lighter I can get one for 1.75 at home. And the showers and bathrooms need a renovation or just a good cleaning. Also don't plan on washing dishes here they yell at you if you do. And They charge u 2$ for each bag to use their dumpster,,,,we laughed and drove to the mobile down the road and tossed it there. The pool looks nice from the outside, but we didn't go in it that much because it wasn't maintained.(For example, it wasn't skimmed and never vacuumed so there were dead and living bugs all over the bottom of the pool and the surface of the water, besides the frog in the pool enjoying the bugs no one used it the whole time we were there) Overall I wouldn't come here again, thought we'd give it a try but gonna stick to going to Lake George Escape Campgrounds from now on.
