Beautiful park for a walk, biking, picnicking, or letting the kids play. There are several historic buildings on-site, which were unfortunately closed when I visited, but I still enjoyed reading the informational signs and learning about the history. It's great to see that being preserved here in Maitland. The trails are perfect for a walk or short run, with plenty of nature and wildlife to take in. One full lap is about 1/2 mile, so it's better suited for shorter workouts rather than long-distance runs. I'll definitely be back! read more

Lake Lily Park is as adorable as its name. It's a small park area but it's so quaint, just off of the small downtown of Maitland and a great spot to hang out. There's a nice walking path that circles the small Lake Lily- you'd have to do quite a few laps to reach a mile but it's still getting steps in. All along the path are benches and other seating, even a cute gazebo. I live near this park and often walk through it while on my way to run errands. Lake Lily Park is so beautiful and peaceful, making it lovely to explore during the day. When I'm there, there aren't that many others who are around except for a couple people running, or strolling by. There are benches to relax on and soak in the tranquility. Personally, I enjoy looking into the water and seeing the turtles sunning themselves, or the other aquatic life swimming around. Lake Lily has a long history in the area dating back to when the foot path around the lake was used by Native Americans. During the Second Seminole War the route was used to transport supplies between Fort Mellon in Sanford, Fort Gatlin in Orlando, Ft. Maitland which was across the street from the park. In 1916 this route named Lake Lily Drive became the first grouted brick road in Florida. During the 19th century, Lake Lily was used as a watering hole and to launder clothes. Today the 10 acre Lake Lily Park sits on the shore of Lake Lily. Park amenities include a 1/2 mile walking trail, playground, a rentable wedding gazebo, a boardwalk, restrooms, and benches around the lake. The park also has several historical buildings including the Waterhouse Museum, a preserved late 19th Century home that is available for tours through the Maitland Art and History Association. I loved my visit to Lake Lily Park where a highlight was finding a gopher tortoise and a red shouldered hawk sitting in a tree. Located in the heart of downtown Maitland, Lake Lily Park offers an easily accessible retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The approximately 0.5 mile loop around the lake invites a leisurely stroll or a run. Benches and tables placed strategically allow for time to eat lunch and chat or to reflect. In the blocks surrounding Lake Lily, restaurants abound, and with the street lamp lighting in the park, your post-meal stroll can be a romantic one (of course we all know it takes more than good food, street lamps and a lake to make it romantic). Farmers Market and Art Festivals are regularly held here during non-pandemic times. The restrooms are currently closed due to COVID-19; however, the city placed next-level port-a-potties, presumably to effectively clean and disinfect during the pandemic, next to the path. The parking can be a challenge on busy days, due to events, and, any at other time if you drive a SUV or larger vehicle. One obvious "elephant in the room" - Lake Lily has more than its share of ducks (and their you-know-what) that you will need to avoid on certain occasions! But, sunsets and evening maybe here can be pretty spectacular and definitely worth the trip! read more

When I lived in Maitland, I found myself here for many walks. It's a well maintained park with a wide path, great scenery- the only con is the pretty tight parking lot, particularly on days when there's lots of people like during the farmers market. There is parking at the community center behind the park as well though. The lake is pretty big and the boardwalk isn't falling to pieces like many are. Overall a nice place to walk around with a few historical buildings you can check out as well. read more

I have been to Lake Lily multiple times to walk around the path, however, it was my first time at the playground this week, and I was not disappointed! The playground is nicely covered with plenty of bathrooms and benches and parking nearby. The equipment has small steps and a mini rock wall that can be scaled by toddlers, as well as big kids. The slides can also cater to smaller children as well as bigger kids. There is a beautiful walking path around Lake Lily as well as a boardwalk were you can watch turtles go by. This park is anything but closed as you can tell by the pictures taken today. They even have a farmers market every Sunday and yesterday they had their Season of Light holiday tradition. Every year they put up a Christmas tree in the middle of the lake. The lake is a nice size for a short walk about after a nice meal. read more

This is a cute little park in Maitland. Has a fun playground for the kids, bathrooms, and a great view to watch the trains go by in the playground as well. I love this park! I come here whenever I can with my husband for an enjoyable walk, enjoying a quiet moment, watching the wildlife (ducks, turtles, etc) and stopping to pet the pooches of other park visitors ! There is a nice little playground for children, restrooms, water fountains for humans and pets (always a nice feature for our furry friends) and lots of benches to rest. It's nearby to the Maitland Civic Center, the Waterhouse Residence Museum, The Maitland bike route and lots of choices for food (quick service or nicer bites). It's not adjacent to the park but nearby is also The Enzian & Eden Bar for a drink and movie you won't find in chain movie theaters. A nice park to come to for a walk on a beautiful Easter Sunday! Or any day when the weather is beautiful. I like to come here for a walk on the weekend, and being Easter Sunday, many people had the same idea. Couples having a picnic. People walking their dogs or riding their bikes. Or the father taking holiday photos of his wife and children, complete with Easter baskets and rabbit ears. The walk is 4/10 of a mile with many benches and picnic tables all around the lake. There is a playground for children, and clean bathrooms next to the play area. There is also a gazebo with picnic tables, and plenty of ducks, ibis, anhingas, and other birds as well. And there is always a turtle swimming by. There is plenty of parking, but there are times when the parking lot may be full. Especially when there is a event. The park hosts a farmer's market every Sunday and art shows. The Maitland Rotary Art Show will be held on November 8-10, 2019. There is usually parking provided for the art show by neighboring businesses. The Maitland Civic Center and the Maitland Library are nearby. There are also many good places to eat that are just a close drive from the park. And a heads up. In previous years, the Maitland Library has held a book sale on the weekend of the art show. You can find books of nearly every interest. I found several cook books at the fund-raiser for the library. I wish this park was closer to me, but it is worth going to when you are out on that Sunday drive. read more

This park, in my opinion, is just perfect! It has just the right blend of characteristics to make it one of the area's best outdoor spaces! Lake Lily itself isn't a very big lake but is still charming with it's beautifully centered (and working) fountain and floating lily pads complete with resident wildlife including squirrels, ducks, geese, various birds, fish, and not to mention a very healthy population of turtles (which definitely make their presence known). The park is clean and both kid and dog friendly and offers a fenced in play area for children, a nicely constructed restroom pavilion, a romantic gazebo, a walking path that borders the lake, benches/ water fountains/ doggie stations throughout the park, a lakeside boardwalk, a historic museum, a cottage/ club house available for rental, plus big shady trees and well maintained green space. Lake Lily park is at the intersection of Maitland Ave and 17/92 in Maitland, FL in front of the Maitland Civic Center. The compact park has a small lake (Lake Lily) with walking path around (.52 miles on the route I walked), picnic tables, playground, lawn and plenty of benches for enjoying a book, people watching or quiet moment. Many special events are held here, like the Weekly Food Trucks or the Farmer's market, along with many different festivals throughout the year. If you arrive on a non event day, there is plenty of parking in the small lot in front of the civic center. This is a quaint park located in a busy spot of Maitland that's inhabited by some of the friendliest ducks you will ever meet. The trail around this small lake is well shaded and has great places to sit and relax or eat lunch and there are ample opportunities to walk a pet or bring a child to play at their playground. There are bathrooms which are easily accessible and the area is kept up and clean. This gets three stars because it's A-OK but not something I would particularly go out of my way to see. It is also located directly on the sun rail line which, for me, was a little irritating with the train horns every 20 minutes but some may enjoy it. Lake Lily is a beautiful little "hometown" park with an abundance of charm. If you're into walking or running, this is a great place to park your car and start your trail through a beautiful area of Maitland. Three times around the lake is about a mile. Most of the walk is shaded, although a portion is out in the sun. Always some friendly ducks to brighten your walk. Or you can do what I do and walk the lake, but then walk through the apartment complex around to a wood planked nature walk that runs along the train tracks and eventually takes you back to a neighborhood with lakes and many different options to extend your trail. You're near the Maitland Art Center and their park, so can work this into your trail, too. Much of this area is shaded by trees, very quiet and has very minimal road traffic. The city hosts many events at the park including the Sunday Farmer's Market and Wednesday Food Truck Rally, among many other events. The host a few art festivals here, too, which have grown through the years and are really quite nice. One of the nicest qualities is that this is the only art festival in town (at least that I know of) that is open until 9 or 10 pm at night, serving wine, etc. to make a very night date night, girls night out event or just liven up your walk routine. There's a fenced in playground area with equipment for children and very nice restroom facilities for a park. I also love the historic Maitland House that is on the grounds, as well as the civic center for rental. Depending on the time of year, you can catch a wedding or two in the park. It's a quiet, peaceful spot to pick up lunch from the many nearby lunch places (including Antonio's which you can walk to from the park). Check it out -- you won't be disappointed! read more
