Unfortunately during the job, it was discovered that the 1/2" sub-flooring was damaged (previously or during the job). I chose to have it replaced, and while the contractor did replace it, they chose a thickness (between 1/2" to 3/4") by mistake. This resulted in the obvious "ridge" that can be seen in the pictures below. Now I was in a situation where, I'm facing either living with what feels like a "small rug" buried under my beautiful hardwood flooring OR pull it up and address the sub-floor height difference. You may be asking: how does Jason (BPS Southeast Flooring) fit in? During this hectic situation, I was looking for SOMEONE that I could TRUST to give me solid advice on the situation and my options. Specifically someone OTHER than the contractor who did the original carpet demo / flooring install. Jason delivered exactly the guidance I was looking for and more. He is extremely knowledgeable and serious about his profession (all things flooring including hardwood). He drove a total round trip of 1 hour, and showed up 20 minutes early. There was no sense that he needed to "sell" me on anything in particular, he only was there to give his opinion on the options and he did exactly that. Even his consulting fee was extremely reasonable (so much so that I doubled it in light of the value of the information and guidance I received). While I cannot attest to the actual "install job quality" that can be garnered from BPS Southeast Flooring (I have not hired them to install any flooring as of this review) , I feel VERY confident in continuing to do business with him for all my flooring needs now and in the future. And since I will be continuing this job myself, I will be purchasing any further flooring material from BPS Southeast Flooring in the future.

After finishing work at my girlfriend's home, the worker who performed the job contacted her personally and said that if her relationship ever didn't work out, he would be happy to take her on a date. He had been inside our home, knew she was in a committed relationship, and this crossed a serious professional boundary. Regardless of intent, this behavior was inappropriate, made us uncomfortable, and damaged our trust in the professionalism and respect customers should expect when inviting workers into their home.

I went to Hilltop in February to have them make me a custom 8 foot wood slab. Dealt entirely with…read moreJared throughout the process. They had issues related to a mill being stolen but I was willing to wait because they're a small, local company. So Jared says my slab is set to be cut first week of May and he contacted me May 3rd to verify measurements and he says they're getting ready to cut it. That's the last contact Jared had with me. I recommended to my family to go to hilltop for an unrelated wood project. While they were at hilltop in early July, they asked about the status of my wood slab and were told "yeah, we couldn't do that". That was the entire explanation. I never heard from Jared. Horrible customer service and honestly would never do business with them. I'd still be waiting if family members hadn't happened to ask while they were there. Do yourself a favor and go to Asheville Hardware instead, I walked in and had my pick of over 100 slabs, got one for cheaper than hilltop quoted me and had it in my garage that same day. So hilltop took 6 months and I got no slab. Asheville Hardware, I had a slab in my truck within an hour. The owner of hilltop left me a voicemail after I contacted them. Apparently he had no idea any of the issues with my order or the customer service I received which isn't a good sign for an extremely small business.
