Mike was easy to work with when getting our lease signed. What made the ridge absolutely like home and desirable was definitely the maintenance man, Trace. He definitely puts love into the work he does to provide a community. He consistently keeps the apartments clean and on top of all requests and repairs needed. We did not experience any major issues in the apartment. Very quiet and small unlike normal complexes which made it nice. Shaded parking and the large plants up front and the hill in the back provided privacy. We lived in both upstairs and downstairs apartments. I would not recommend this for anybody who is handicap or unable to go upstairs because they are steep. Laundry is not 24/7 and only has 4 machines which got taken up often. Otherwise we loved living here and would definitely recommend the ridge. They have been progressively making upgrades as well.

They play football at the parking lot like its safe. Theres bums rummaging the trash everyday. Just like everywhere else, this is overpriced for what it is thanks to inflation. The driveway to get in and out is too tight and people not living here dropping package daily thinks you fit so they won't back up while you get stuck in traffic while you get honked at from behind on a fast going street. Should I say more? Go rent a room, save a downpayment and buy a house elsewhere cheaper. Save yourselves. This won't get any better.

I had done tons of research when I first started looking at apartments and I had 3 main must-haves: fair price, safe area, and cleanliness. Fountains Apartments has all of that. So my only guess for why there are some disgruntled opinions on here about this place may be due to unrealistic expectations/standards. If your checklist for choosing an apartment is similar to mine - this place, in my opinion, is the one to choose :) In addition to meeting my must-haves, the neighbors are incredibly friendly and willing to accommodate/communicate for everyone's best interest. It's a very family environment here with tenants that have lived here for 5+ years. I also absolutely love the property manager, Megan. She is constantly working on bettering the complex and building relationships with the tenants here. I have never had a property manager that puts so much heart into her work, and for myself, I feel a huge sense of security living in a place that has that. As far as cons to this place - I don't really have any. It's fairly priced, safe in a beautiful area, and clean :) I have never made the effort to review something before but because I'm just pretty shocked at all the harsh comments made about this complex, I feel like it's only fair to share how wonderful I think this place is. She treated people with grace, dignity and understanding even if she couldn't approve you or approve you. Someone else took over after that who was okay but constantly stressed it seemed and then Jaime came around. She's of no assistance, doesn't care - does the basics and must go home. No compassion for people at all. If you have a situation with a neighbor or animals pooping in your yard- no response. When prior office staff was there I would get acknowledgment of thank you letting me know or something or anything!! IF she gives you a response- don't expect a nice one. When I emailed prior landlords I would get it addressed instantly. When I was late on rent- I would say something and give a date of payment! Never evicted!! I communicated but just know that doesn't mean anything for them. I would over hear the endless complaints about how many apartments did not communicate with the office and I would question why but I get it. It's Jaime. It's her. I thought communication was appreciated to find out it's not so damned if you do or damned if you don't with them. I loved my apartment, I loved how close it was to everything, I loved maintance and how helpful they were, I felt safe with my kids. But all that takes a downfall when a staff member supersedes personal interactions with no compassions. I absolutely loved being in the area. B Just don't go here. After a year living there it never went away. I stayed in apartment 8 facing the freeway, at night the walkway lights never worked so you could not see our building which made it feel unsafe especially in the evening for my wife walking alone. Its easy for anyone to hide in the bush and mug her. Once in the early morning I heard people rummaging into the apartments below me and then hurried off into a car. I reported it to management suggesting fixing the lights, they said they would and never did. My biggest gripe is how the management handles your move out. Dont expect to get your deposit, and in fact expect to pay on top of it. I took care of the apartment very well. Never wore shoes in the house, and had very little guests over in my year there. It was just me, my wife, and newborn son. Before moving out We cleaned the property thoroughly, vacuumed, and steamed the floor. We never mounted anything, or even touched the walls. First we agreed on a date and time for my final move out (afternoon slot) and an hour before it the property manager conveniently emails to cancel instead of calling. I show up, shes present and says they did the walk through in the morning without giving me a notice. I get my final statement, and they charged me for paint ($90.00), carpet repair, and cleaning. On top of my deposit that they took I had to pay extra. Again, we were clean and simple residents. What they charged me would be for anything outside normal wear and tear, but even at that there was nothing damaged, or needing to be replaced that we caused. They sent pictures of the wall with a little paint scuff smaller than a penny, and charged $90 to repair that. So it looks like they do this to every resident moving out, but dont actually do the work, because if they did especially the paint then I wouldnt have to pay anything because we didnt damage any walls. They basically pass all the fees that come with preparing for the next resident onto previous residents which isnt right especially if you didnt do anything to damage the property. I hope this helps anyone considering moving here. This is the first time Ive dealt with property managers like this. Your deposit should come back to you if you've respected the property.

I believe ownership & management are only interested in lining their own pockets to take days off at Petco Park. At one point, the barbecue grill actually had mold in it. The only thing you can really count on is The Cove La Mesa increasing the rent 10% annually. One bedrooms are about $2600 and two bedrooms go for about $3000 minimum. I would not recommend this apartment complex to anybody who's trying to save money in San Diego.

Management doesn't allow "auto pay" for your portion of subsidized rent if on a housing program of any kind . You must pay $10 for a cashiers check or get check sent from your bank. High fine for one day late rent .... No exceptions. Lots of elevator breakdowns, and garage door breakdowns, leasing staff does not stay working here long, so just when u think u have a great relationship/communication w office, it's gone. Most times the office is in chaos and you get wrong information on what you ask about. Very frustrating for the residents Security is not great... years ago was wonderful, The trolley brings problematic people into this vicinity. Not really safe to walk your dog at night. I sure miss our former management company. They were considerate and always fair. This is now called The District and is nothing like the wonderful place it was as Pravada.

Fiberglass Fiasco: Health and Finances Lost (Link to video…read morein my second picture) A few months ago, I was eager to move into Alterra. It's convenient location and modern architecture seemed to outweigh its expenses. When I moved in, the staff was friendly, but I soon became aware of its lack of interpersonal charm. Despite most of the staff providing only a semblance of benevolence, one staff member, Harmony, was kind, helpful, and personable. So I overlooked warning signs, such as continued maintenance problems with my apartment from day one. My major issues began late July when I began to experience skin irritation and formication, to which I naturally assumed to be an insect infestation. I promptly notified staff of the problem and requested an inspection. That's when the struggle began. It took me three weeks of nagging to get an actual inspection. During this time period, I was lied to. I continued to experience health problems in my apartment, which drove me to hotels that I had to pay for myself. No results were found from the inspection, so management acted as if that was the end of it. I continued to experience skin and now respiration problems, which pushed me to medical centers. I had to investigate the problem myself while staying in hotels. That was costly, and by the time I had narrowed down the problem, I was out of money. I now presume the problem to be airborne fiberglass or building material from the renovated unit next door. It was much too late though. I opted out of my lease. I am a veteran, and I have lost all my money trying to fix this problem. The problem is not with maintenance. I understand that things go wrong. The problem is with the dubious, cavalier attitude that I was treated with. I haven't received any reimbursement for my hotels or medical, and I had to pay rent for the two months that this fiasco ensued. I haven't even received an apology for messing up my home and finances. I write this, not to bash anyone, but to make others aware of the problems with communication and customer relations that I faced. For almost two grand a month, I deserve better. You deserve better. Management should have been working with me to investigate what was making me sick, not doubting my every word. Maybe someone from corporate will see this, and I can get some kind of reimbursement, so I can find a place to live. If not, maybe you will read this and avoid moving into my tainted unit. Who knows though? Maybe they will fix it. My recommendation is don't even waste your time if you are looking for a place with people who care past their 9-5. You're only a dollar figure and a paycheck to them. I expect much more than that, and so should you.
