I am writing this review because I have had a very special experience this is a happy resident of Shasta Lane apartments. First of all they were built sometime back so even though these pricey pricey condo type apartments for even more money than here which isn't too bad here Shasta Lane apartments have living rooms that are large and spacious connected to a dining room and a kitchen then there's a hallway and then a bathroom on one side the bedroom on one side and wow walk inclosets! I say this because this feels like a home it is not compacted at all I believe it was built in the seventies but it might have even been the 50s and they just read you the parking lot as well as the roofs so everything is wonderful and they are remodeled in different ways at different times so everybody has some special kind of thing about their apartment that makes it special to them we talk amongst each other and it's a friendly place. But more than that it's been the people that work here that make it real community for me. When I left to go to a funeral in Denver where I am from, the resident relations manager who is in my building and we keep a quiet building said Shasta Lane is a family we will welcome you back. That touched me because I haven't made a lot of friends yet in california! I also want to mention somebody else, somebody very special at fixing anything you can think of someone that any business would want if they didn't need a lot of trouble and other experts and just wanted one man that could do it all and sometime with an assistant his name is Brandon Fronhoefer, the senior service manager. I never have to worry about things costing here even though renters insurance is required because the place really doesn't need a lot of repair in all of these apartments are sturdily built and not only that, the senior business manager Lorraine Seward seems to really have work with some people that took advantage of the covid no pay rent because they did not read the law and suddenly were left with oh my goodness I have to pay it all at once all back. They did not read the statute, and that is unfortunate. For some time the rain worked with these people, I noticed that people were allowed to stay for some time past the time they could repay it so that seems to have come to an end it is understandable and that is why the rent has gone up all over town. I have bad credit but I always pay my rent first. I also want to say that the staff has been especially patient with me because I have a mental illness combined with a head injury, I appear normal speak normal and do a lot of things just like everyone else, but the staff is aware of my condition and they are so sensitive it it is unbelievable! I highly recommend moving here is a wonderful place don't worry about the price I couldn't find anything cheaper in Chu la Vista you'll do well here you'll enjoy it it even has a hot tub and heated floors in my bedroom and living room amazing amazing view out of the patio facing west and a palm tree for my Colorado fun time I love San Diego and this has been a wonderful experience thank you Shasta Lane apartments. Thank you to everyone that works here, and thank you Kantis Tindall for being the friendly neighbor that you are. All of the property folks live right with us as neighbors fun people enjoyable and often busy but cool to conversate with. read more

I have lived here since 2009, when I first moved to San Diego. The apartments are well maintained, quiet, and right off the 8 freeway. I am finally forced to move to live with my boyfriend but will really miss it here, and am in no hurry to leave. The on sight management allowed my two cats with no cat rent, and were nice enough to even learn their names! I have had two maintenance issues that were dealt with immediately. They even have a clubhouse next to the pool that you can "reserve" for free! read more

Showed up for a tour, confirmed multiple times. No one was at the leasing office at the time of our tour. Knocked a bunch and called every number we could find and no response. Frustrating since we had to drive so far to view this place. read more

a very average place that changed for the worse in the last so many years. their has always been issues with scheduling. most of the time someone doesn't even show up. till you call an hour later. there was an appointment at this time. oh yeah we'll look into it. or they get the wrong date and access when you are not ready everytime you try to meet them there is always a bigger emergency or someone else. I have been promised over and over again with fail to follow through. twice they had someone come into fix something and twice my property was damaged. one of the times I was there and seen them stand on it and damage it. I said what are you doing. I brought it to attention said someone needs to come here again right now. they ignored me and stayed in the office. I followed up and gave them information on costs, places, and fixes. Since they wouldn't do anything on their own. then they told me it had been too long and only offered a couple hundred dollars. on the property as if it was my fault. I did everything in my power to prevent it from ever happening to begin with. one of the times they entered a day early on the wrong date clearly without permission. they could see I wasn't ready and instead of calling me they proceeded anyway so I was out of thousands and thousands of dollars. they never take responsibility and ignore situations with the cheap help they hire read more

I love living here and have for many years. Here is an updated review. Pros: safe neighborhood, nice management and maintenence personell. Child and pet friendly. Responds to maintenance issues promptly. Nice neighbors. Premises is clean and well kept. They give free snacks and coffee to residents. They have food and drink parties for residents once in a while. I love the management. They help give u higher credit scores bc they report on time payments which is great! Its a non smoking premises so I dont have to smell cigarettes. Cons: The noise level is excessive and the days are anything but peaceful. Constant leaf blowing, hammering, cutting, mowing, sawing, drilling, tree cutting, construction, water shut offs, digging, replanting, workers taking up your parking spot, making u move your car to the street on street sweeping day so u have to find parking far away. There is always a project going on because the building is very old. So if your home during the day or like to sleep in, or work nights..you will be upset. I hear the leave blower anywhere between 6am to 8am. I wish they would do it later. Its not like people need the pool area cleaned that early. Who swims that early? Its cold outside. So, the premises is well kept but at a cost. I wish they could consolidate the work into 2 days. Just 2 days. Everyone comes at once, makes noise all at once and then gives us some peace and quiet the rest of the week. Also, if u have a kid, do not let them play in the grass. Its the toilet of the dogs now. They are building town houses behind the apts now. Will be a lot more traffic in and out soon. More apts going up on lake Murray and a new shopping center. The beauty and serenity of the area is going to be no more. Also, were not allowed to have hanging plants on our balconies! What? Why? No decor what so ever including bird feeders are allowed. Thats so boring! The balconies are going to look so boring and unlived in. You are allowed nothing at all. They should say -management reserves the right to disapprove any decor they find in poor taste or offensive. Lastly, turn over is super high here. I see people move in and out of here quick! They keep jacking up the rent and no one wants to pay that much for such an old, tiny apt. I think I saw 5 places open up recently. Our rent just went up to 1800 and I have lived here 10 yrs. We will be forced to go soon too:( All in all I love it here. The pros out way the cons by far. I just have to be honest about everything so you're prepared for it. read more

Lived here for two years. Sad to have left but needed to move closer to work. It is in a great location. Very quiet complex. Nothing fancy but a great place to live. I would like to give a shout out to Lorraine, the leasing manager at Shasta Lane Apartments. I have a client with disabilities who needs to move into a 1 bedroom apartment. She is older and has had many negative experiences regarding social situations because of her disabilities. I spoke with Lorraine last week on the phone and she was sensitive and caring and determined that, although, there isn't a vacancy at the moment, she would make sure and get my client in to Shasta Lane Apartments. My client met Lorraine yesterday and was so comfortable around her and she said that this place feels like home to her. That says a lot about Lorraine's kindness and respect. read more

My wife and I had our sights on this place almost two years ago, at the time, Adrienne advised us that there is currently a "no dog" policy but she was working on getting that changed and to come back. We signed a lease with a different apartment and as soon as the lease was over, we came back, and to our excitement, the "two dogs allowed" policy was in full effect. We've been here a little over a month now and maintanence is always here ensuring that the complex is clean and they are also doing some very nice upgrades to the complex and are also adding a dog park later on in the year. Adrienne is the greatest onsite manager I've ever dealt with, she is up front and friendly about everything and she makes sure to keep everything organized so that everyone has a smooth and pleasant experience here. I would highly recommend checking the apartments out, the street parking is excellent, the apartments are all newly remodeled, there are no crazy partiers, the mail and laundry facilities are super clean and always available, and it is very quiet the majority of the time. We unfortunately have to break our lease due to a relocation opportunity for a job, otherwise, we would've stayed here until we were ready to buy a house! read more

Wendy, the property manager was fantastic during the entire lease process. The apartments are cute, spacious, clean, and very much convenient with getting around town. I had such a great experience from the moment I stepped foot on the property, Wendy made the experience fun, low-pressure, and most importantly she made sure to communicate frequently throughout. The complex is a little jem, quiet, peaceful, and conveniently located near Lake Murray. Coming from a not so great rental experience in Coronado prior to Shasta Lane, I very much appreciate how Wendy and staff have made this experience so pleasant. Thank you, Wendy! NOT smoke free. Management does nothing. I don't even have the right to breathe clean air in my own home. Complaining for years and nothing has been done besides one person moved to smoking in the parking lot below my window instead of in his balcony beneath me. I am surrounded by smokers who blatantly ignore the no smoking policy and enforcement is never made. If it weren't for that I would love it here. It's quiet, safe and beautiful but expensive. read more

As of February 25th I currently live in Apt 64... Very poor management practices... The manager, Alexia, has the personality of a wet dishrag... She promises to be attentive to the needs of the tenants but rarely follows through and turns a deaf ear to any questions... I have nothing but problems with waking up to ants in my cupboards and in my shower... I have asked her several times to have the ants eradicated but the problem still exists... There are laundry facilities that are poorly maintained... The lint filters in the dryers are extremely old, never replaced, and have caked on residue which damages clothing... I have pointed this out to Alexia... She responded by telling me that Shasta Lane Apartments are not responsible... And that I accept the risk of damaged clothes... I am taking the situation of my damaged clothing to Small Claims Court... The propriety is old and runned down... If you are seeking a nice place to live then choose a different location... I'm tired of waisting a total of $1,495 (the total cost of rent, water, trash, and maintenance fee) to live in an insect infested apartment... Giving my not notice next week... Extremely unprofessional. I had a 2:00pm appointment yesterday with the office to talk about the possibility of renting from Shasta Lane. My boyfriend and I arrive early, walk around the premises a bit and wait. 2:00 comes along, the leasing office is clearly closed and locked up. We give them the benefit of the doubt and wait for 10 minutes, still nothing. Eventually a maintenance worker sees us and asks what we're here for, he calls the manager (named Wendy?) and says she'll be there in 10 minutes, and then shows us a 1 bedroom unit (we were looking for a 2 bedroom) while we wait. Pretty old looking and almost no storage space. Nevertheless he was very nice and helpful, so I guess this 1 star will go to him. He says that the manager is going to be there in 10 minutes so at this point we're back outside of the leasing office and hang around for her to show up. 2:35 rolls around and she's still not there, so we leave. What a waste of time. Shasta Lane Apartments lost a prospective renter yesterday purely because they didn't show up. This should be a lesson to you, Shasta Lane- be more professional. You're running a business, so act like it. Write things down and show up to your appointments. Every single adult should know this, but for some reason you don't. read more

Hello and Happy Spring everyone!! I've recently renewed my lease, being here 7yrs this summer. Needless to say I've gone through several Property Managements and Managers. With that said, Adrienne is by far the best besides Maria which worked here with a different Property Management Co. They get things done, friendly, and always an open door policy with great communication amoungst residents. I appreciate the fact that I never have to worry about things not getting done when addressed. This community is quiet, friendly, very clean and enjoyable to live. There is a variety of people that live here and I being a friendly person, enjoy talking to many. Never have I heard anyone complain about management nor property. I feel this complex accepts all, young, middle ages, older, gay, pets and that they are open minded to our needs. Sometimes we even have events that Adrienne sets up for the residents in efforts to bringing us all together. I love our new managers, I feel they get blamed for things that are beyond their control, as in City water shut offs, Rent going up, adjacent noise from other construction sites. Granted it took me time to adjust living in an appt. setting since I've always lived in a house. I realized real quick that there are rules for a reason. Yes, we all have to follow them no matter where we live. I recommend living at Shasta Lane and I've recommended several people throughout the years. read more

I lived here for 4 years. Started at $1000 for 1 bed. When REMM group took over they decided to raise the rent to $1500 a month. I grew up in this area and enjoy the lake but could not afford $1500 for 1 bedroom. Always paid rent on time. Moved out last Aug when rents were going skyhigh. People moving out left and right. Air conditioner was old, asked to have it replaced, manager said no. Had to buy a $300 portable air conditioner for the bedroom, apartment would get to 80 & 90 degrees in summer. Pine trees dripped sap all over my car. My advise to prospective tenants, keep looking. I found a nice place in spring valley after leaving and includes water, trash, sewer and no pet rent. Shasta lane will add this to your rent. $35 for pet rent and $40 for water, trash, sewer. read more

I moved in this complex a little over a month ago, July. The experience so far has been really great. It's convenient to everything and close to Lake Murray if you enjoy walking or biking. Marie, the complex Manager has been amazing! She has been so wonderful from the very beginning getting me processed and continues to be with any questions I have. She returns emails the same day, which that in itself reflects her dedication to make sure everything runs smooth and customer service is delivered. They have great amenities and the people are friendly in the complex. read more

I used to like living here and the fact I was here for 10 years I think that backs that up. The apartments are old but generally in ok shape. The neighbors are nice but some can be a bit nosy. Generally the grounds are well kept and repairs are performed as needed. My poor review comes from the hostile take over of the new management. I've lived at this location for years and recently they would not renew my lease with no reason given. They ousted the current manager and repair staff with very little notice and at Christmas time no less. I've had a couple of issues with management claiming certain things were not approved by the owners but they had been. Even my blinds were approved by the previous manager but apparently now they are no longer approved. I'm glad that my lease was not renewed because I'm done with the issues here along with the management. Before the new management came in there were problems at that time as well. Over the last 10 years the management companies changed at least 3 or 4 times and got worse with each crew. In all fairness though at least with the last management and repair staff it had to do with budget rather than poor repairs on the part of the staff. There was a severely botched repair of a slab leak (contracted out) that caused water damage and water cut off for the repairs over a six month period of time. This water cut off affected the entire complex because the main shutoff at the street had to be used for certain parts of the repairs. I received no less than 20 water cut off notices during that six month window as poorly made repairs were fixed again and again. Not fun having no hot water or water at all for periods of time up to a week. This issue is where things started going down hill with this location and why I switched to a month to month lease. I needed out of here but it took this latest management companies issues to get me to move. Don't rent from the Remm Group as they are the current managers of this location. If the management company changes then I would rate this location higher but this latest company is horrible. Just a friendly warning to those thinking of leasing here. read more
