View of bar while waiting for breakfast.

I enjoyed the low key atmosphere, view, food and drinks. They had my hubbies favorite beer on tap "spacedust" and I had a great Moscow Mule. Average bar food and updated furniture with indoor fire propane table. First time going and you can tell by wait staff small community tactics. I even got a handwritten bill. Food was great and kind staff. It was busy and had to track down staff for extras. We even went back the next day for breakfast. They even served to our liking off the menu which made my review go up. We plan on returning again.

Awesome place to enjoy a meal after fishing on the lake. I had an awesome burger and enjoyed the view of the lake and mountains.

The views are amazing but the food you could make better at home. I don't mind paying for quality food but at 1.00 per small item that comes out of a bag I won't do it. No one greeted us when we came in and I had to look around for a waitress. Then when she pulled my beer there was over 3/4 foam, at 5.25 a glass I expect a full one. Come for the view , eat beforehand.

Sweet spot for lunch or dinner. Newly remodeled and very clean. Breakfast would be a great addition. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the sunshine. Great little out of the way place for those around Shelton or passing through.

Prime Rib sandwich (sorry, was hungry and dug in)

Excellent food and service at the restaurant. Not much of a "resort" though. A couple cabins in the parking lot. No designated swim area.

Although we were seated quickly and had a nice view of Hood Canal, the service and food have not improved. Our waiter was very bland and gave the impression that he wasn't all that interested in being there. My GF had the crab cakes. As you can see in the photo, each was about the size of a fifty-cent piece. So each cost around $20 and were not worth anything close to that. My miso sturgeon was only ok. Dry and without a hint of miso, it was disappointing. The best item was the side Brussels Sprouts. Crisp and tasty. So, the restaurant and resort are well located, and I'm sure the hotel rooms are nice. You just may want to eat elsewhere.

I was impressed with how much there was to do here and service was too notch. All the staff were super helpful. The stay itself was so peaceful, whether you're in the cottage or the rooms. Nature is everywhere and connected to all that Alderbrook has to offer. The rooms were clean with great service. They have robes and slippers for everyone. You can even jump into the sound if you feel like it! Ooo not to mention, some great seal watching! This is a great place for a retreat, conference, community building, work event, girls night, wedding, and so much more!

We were in room 25, with a gorgeous view of the Sound. We had two queens (haha, so very appropriate...!). The mattresses seemed new and were comfortable. The room was clean, the sheets fresh, the kitchen area clean and stocked with Keurig cups (well, that's a bit of a downer, but not their fault). The room was very nicely decorated with all kinds of quirky prints and hangings, making the room cheerful and fun. The TV was quite large (55" ?). The halls and other common areas were clean and well decorated, again cheerful and fun. The grounds include a parking area for RV's which was well organized, neat and tidy, with a couple green areas and some cabins on the North side, but that wasn't the main event... ! They have a very pretty little stream that even had a few flowers when we visited and which empties into the sound, where the estuarial mix of fresh and salt waters attracts birds (and fish? need to find out!). They have a small pebble beach with steps leading down where they said it is fine to launch a kayak or two! To the South there is a power plant outlet! My excitement might puzzle those of you who don't fish in Winter, but not only is it deep and fast running, but may be warm enough to attract fish. It, like everything else we saw about the waters, appeared clean and free of trash, as one might typically see nearby RV camping. And..., There are some lovely businesses nearby at HoodCanal. We had coffee there at a very nice little shop (HoodCanal Coffee, who'd have thunk it?) and then ventured next door to the little wine shop, which was FULL of curios, art, and so many lovely little things. The proprietress was wonderfully chatty and really helped fill us in on the area. And that leads us to the people... ! The nice lady running the hotel was out of the office (pro tip: there is a call button to the right of the office door that pages her, so just tap that), but popped up quickly. She was very friendly and, when we ran out of coffee creamer, which we mentioned in passing in the hall, she told me not to bother coming down the stairs to the office and that she would bring it right up, which she did. She also had more information on the local area that was very helpful. We were very pleasantly surprised and will certainly be back... with kayak(s)!

The tower rooms are very conveniently attached to the casino and easy to get back-and-forth to your room. If you stay in a Resort Room, that building is not attached and you have to walk through the parking lot to get to the casino. I would say that that's the only downfall during the winter time of staying over there. But that is where the pool is so it just depends on what you're looking for at your stay. I have no complaints about the room, very clean and nice decor. My husband wished there was room service for breakfast the next morning but that is not available. I also wish they had valet parking. There is not nearly enough parking in the parking lot so if you don't find parking, you have to park in the parking garage and then walk all the way around back in to the hotel. Hotel staff were very friendly and the checkout process was easy. The second part of this review is going to be on the service from my work holiday party. The room was beautifully set up and the food was delicious. The staff that were coming around refilling water and taking plates were very attentive and friendly. We really liked Richard. The one employee that we encountered was the bartender assigned to our room. My first encounter from her I thought she was just having a bad day and I let it go. Not welcoming or friendly at all. Not even a smile. But as the night went on people started talking and it seemed everyone was having a not so good encounter from Robyn. She did not ID anyone all night, except my coworker that asked for a mocktail. She was rude to some people and unprofessional to others. It just progressively got worse. Yes the management will be reaching out to the contact they have at the casino to let them know. I was just so taken back about how somebody could go out of their way to be so rude at a fun holiday party. Other than that, the experience was great and I would highly recommend renting an event room there. Is it worth the drive?...yes

The only thing I don't care for is there are no hooks of any sort to hang your clothes on in the whole room. Especially, in the bathroom where personally an under the sink cubbie for the hotel robe doesn't cut it. The only 2 rods to hang things on are the towel rack in with the tub & toilet area, and the closet out in the main room. Very inconvenient. The outer portion of bathroom where the sink is, only has the cubbie. Initially that is filled with towels & bathrobes. The lack of a towel rack near the sink seems to be a growing trend at motels. What's with that? Otherwise, so far I've enjoy the in room Keurig coffee service and I'm impressed by the room's addition of wine glasses to the clear coffee cups & water glasses. The downside is the cups are a small 8 oz and I had to cycle twice for a decent amount of coffee. View great! Not sure the rest is worth it.

There are tons of spots. But I had a disappointing time at the resort. I only wanted to sit in the hot springs for a bit. The employees were fine that day. However the next day, my car didn't start, and I had to walk to the resort to use a phone since there was no reception. The same person was there but completely wrapped up in a conversation with someone, so it was awkward to pull her away. She told me the nearest reception was at the Salmon Cascades two miles up, or we could use the phone in the corner. There were instructions on the phone to use it, but it didn't work. So I had to give up on that, and they were still talking so casually. They really didn't care about what was happening at all. Then I looked it up and realized the walk to Salmon Cascades was actually five miles away, but I was ignored when I brought this up. I guess it was really important those two caught up. If I were to walk into literally any restaurant (which the resort has) or business, and I needed help with an emergency, I would expect to get help. It's just the human thing to do. Most people would help. But maybe the resort needs help with helping its guests, so here are my suggestions as a former hostess: - Train employees for someone in need of emergency services and give them up to date information on the phone and make sure they know the area. If there's no service, they need to take responsibility as a hub to help travelers feel safe especially when there are bears are everything out there! Plus it's just hospitality to know the area to help people out who are lost. It leaves a good impression, too. - Take a guests concern seriously and work with them to find a solution, however trivial it may seem. - Lower the prices while you're at it. Don't gatekeep the experience for rich tourists. Until these things are changed, the resort is currently a soulless cashgrab, in an area with such sacred indigenous meaning...
