We stayed here a few months ago during our adventure honeymoon--30 states in 60 days--and Lake Placid was one of the highlights! As avid skiers, we couldn't pass up the chance to head upstate, and this place did not disappoint. The views were absolutely breathtaking, the food was fantastic, and the whole vibe of the town is just something special. If you've never been to Lake Placid, it's a must. From charming shops to great restaurants and beautiful sights everywhere you look, it's such a fun place to explore. We stayed at lakeside suite (3rd floor - I think it is the best room out of all) for a few nights for our foilage trip a few weeks ago and I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this place. We booked their romance package ($1500 per night) which includes breakfasts, dinner, late check out and a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival. I realize the price can go as low as $600? (during off seasons) and as high as $1500? for the suites depends on when you go. but it is worth of $$$. trust me. pros 1. what a beautiful property with friendly staff. nice view of lake placid, complimentary boat tours, complimentary smores kits daily, and many trails close to the lodge. 2. The restaurant they have, called Artisan, was just mind blowing. We didnt expect much (since we are from the city tsk tsk), but every dish was amazingly delicious!!! can they open one in the city??? 3. The lodge front desk is available via text, so brilliant! cons 1. outdoor jacuzzi would be amazing in their big lawn. 2. missing professional spa (sad) 3. not even mini gym? 4. two bottles of apple juice that there in the refrigerator were expired for a month.. We certainly didn't expect that for the money we paid, but everything else was wonderful, so.. I will not take it seriously haha It was our first time visiting upstate NY and can't wait to visit them again! I usually do not write reviews but considering the unusual and bad experience we had at the late Placid Lodge, I felt compelled to write one. My boyfriend and I had planned a 4 night stay at the lodge in a lakeside cabin in hopes of relaxing and distressing from a very stressful few months with our careers and a house move. We were looking for a quiet and peaceful, secluded cabin and thought the lodge would be the perfect location. We had visited Lake Placid before and had dinner at the Lodge's restaurant so we were familiar with the property. We also wanted to bring our dog on this trip, so the cabin was a perfect fit. Unfortunately we were greeted with just the opposite of a quiet and relaxing stay. When we arrived on Sunday evening, we were shown to our cabin and we noticed numerous construction equipment and workers at multiple cabins surrounding ours. We did not think much of this the first night since we were tired from our long drive, we decided to get room service and stayed in for the night. Unfortunately, at 7am the next morning we were woken abruptly by loud power equipment and loud talking. As I took my dog outside, I realized this would not be a private or secluded location, construction workers were everywhere I turned and construction was in full swing, From there on the construction only got more intense and we were woken every morning at 7am by the chaos. We considered asking to be moved to another cabin, but when we walked around the property, we saw that every cabin had work being done nearby. The main building at the lodge seemed like a quieter option but we knew dogs were not allowed in this building so we did not think this would be an option. Since we spent most of our days out of the cabin, we decided to do our best to ignore the construction. The last two days of our stay a new roof was being installed on the walkway leading past all the cabins, up to the lodge. This was definitely the worst part of our stay, having to navigate through and over roofing debris and equipment to get to and from our cabin. Upon check out we spoke to the front desk about our annoyance with all of the construction noise, she was polite and brought us a manager to speak with. Unfortunately the manager was unpleasant and combative, telling us that we should have said something sooner and there was nothing she could do about it now. We completely understand that we visited during their slow season and that periodic maintenance and construction has to be completed during this time. Our main complaint is that nothing was ever said to us about the construction in the numerous emails we were sent prior to our trip or at check in. It is completely unacceptable to put guests in the middle of a construction zone when your property is advertised as a lakeside retreat with secluded cabins. The right thing would have been to advise us about the construction ahead of time and offer to put us in a quieter section of the property. This is an absolutely beautiful property but we were so disappointed by the experience and lack of care for their guests that we will not consider returning or recommend this resort to others. For the price that we paid for this experience we would have had a much better time at one of the of the other numerous resorts in the area that offer a comparable setting and we strongly recommend anybody reading this review do the same. read more

It was breathtaking, a fantastic experience. Of course you have high expectations when going somewhere like this, but I did not expect the level of high quality details at every turn. For example, we didn't know there would be a birds of prey talk on Monday evening- we got to see owls and a hawk! My partner even got to hold an owl!! And I didn't expect the snowshoe trails to be as gorgeous and well maintained as they were, and we had a nice little map provided to us. I didn't expect the delicious Nespresso coffee maker in the room, or the bath salts for the tub. I didn't expect the prompt service at ever turn and to feel totally taken care of in our little cabin home. We simply have to plan a trip back. We want to visit in every different season, because I'm sure it has lots to offer in each! I'd definitely recommend. My only gripe is wishing the food were better, but its good enough. And the surroundings and accommodations make it well worth it overall. Bravo! read more

Stoped in for a drink to check the place out for a future corporate outing with friends & coworkers before we even made it to the bar a heavy set tattooed blond bartender abruptly stopped us and asked us for some identification like we were on a prom date or something. Not exactly a warm inviting welcoming we were expecting for us or for any future corporate events. (Being in our 30's we expect to get carded it was the way she asked) We could quickly tell the culture of customer service was lacking and this rich beautiful establishment was a waste of our time. We bought a round and watched the bartender struggle with the shaker, slamming it on the bar top for some crazy reason, then left. Pro Tip: Successful Software Engineers have lots of disposable income they don't mind spending for some descent services. read more

My brother decided to get married here and we figured we would extend our trip and come up early. My brother always raved about this place and how beautiful it was and peaceful the getaway is. I am not one to just sit and stay at my lodging because I always feel this is something more I could be doing, however, this time I did not mind it. As soon as we pulled in the views of the lodge and of the moutains behind it were breathtaking. We were greeted right away with a nice glass of Champagne & were told to go unwind in our rooms they would have someone ( Devon whose awesome) bring in our bags. We stayed in the main lodge the first night, our room was gorgeous. All the hand made/ carved wood was truly spectacular! I loved the wood work on our comfy bed & that bathroom/ tub was by far one of the best I had seen all weekend. ( I made sure to check out everyone's cabins/ rooms, no two are exactly the same ) There was even a bottle of wine & some snacks waiting for us. Once we were settled in, we had a private tour of the place. I honestly couldn't stop taking pictures of the snow covered mountains! We split a two bedroom cabin with my rents the next two night & the cabin was literally a few feet away from the lake. Just as beautiful as our other room with the same craftsmanship & I love that it was all done by local people/ artists. We spent a lot of time in Maggie's pub! The food was always delicious and fresh ( farm to table ) & we enjoyed plenty of drinks & laughs. I highly recommend coming here for a romantic getaway or with a group of friends at least once! I'm hoping to make it back this fall or next to see the foliage! read more

Stayed with my wife for 4 nights. Had a lovely time. Rented a lakefront cabin. Was beautiful to wake up with amazing views of the frozen lake and winter landscape. Cabin was perfect with all amenities including a wood fireplace which we used to make s'mores and cozy up the cabin at night. Fully stocked fridge with free drinks, complimentary wine and Nespresso. They provide free ice skates, skis, and snowshoes as well as shuttle service. Overall we had a great relaxing time and was a perfect getaway. read more

I still can't get over how gorgeous Lake Placid Lodge is as well as the view. This is relaxation at its finest. I didn't stay at Lake Placid Lodge, only visited, but my brief stop to check out the premises and the Lake was enough to make me fall in love with the place. I didn't want to leave and I hadn't even seen the rooms yet! I stayed about 5 minutes away at the Courtyard by Marriott. Ask me on my first day in Lake Placid what I thought about the Marriott and I'd have told you it was the fanciest digs in town. Well scratch that. After seeing Lake Placid Lodge, oh my God, whoever thought a weekend in the "woods" would be roughing it was all wrong. The renovation of Lake Placid Lodge after it's tragic fire is absolutely stunning. The architects and interior designers seriously thought about every little detail from the animal wood carvings that adorn the fire places to the perfectly sized branches that line the ledges and stairs. The lodge is vast but cozy with numerous rooms all for lounging and forgetting the stresses of city life. The views on the balconies are amazing. I can still smell the crisp air and can just get lost looking out at the Lake. I think I would be able to spend the whole evening out there and not get bored. Book a room, plan a wedding, close this place down for your company retreat. You won't be sorry. There is even a resident house dog Maggie to greet you. She's sweet. Just don't steal her ball away from her. But she does love playing catch! Lake Placid Lodge now occupies my daydreams. Visit just once and you'll understand why. It's Heaven. read more

Can I move in?! It was the first light snowfall of the season in upstate NY. Hubby and I were here for our annual autumn trip up north for our anniversary. This place was everything we were looking for. It's romantic and cozy. Rustic yet chic. We sipped champagne and sat by the stunning stone fireplace fire on handmade pillows in between mums and pumpkins. We dined overlooking a small cabin on top of the hill being lightly covered in snow to one side and over the stunning, snowy lake to the other. That alone was perfection! We were joined by a man who brings his owls to the lodge for guests to interact with. We learned about and pet an American baby owl, Morley. What a cool, unexpected addition to our visit. All of the staff was incredible. The hostess by the front door even lent me the house charger to use while we relaxed by the fireplace. The waiter was knowledgable and friendly and Mr. Owl guy, while a tad strange was also sweet and informative. Every detail of the place was thought out and absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful hand carved wooden tables, railings, chairs and lamps. The art, the wood paneling, the drapery, it all made up the perfect cozy lodge feel. I understand the price tag can be a little steep, but this isn't just a place to rest your head, this is where you will spend the majority of your time. It's a getaway. Now, we personally don't like to stay in one place when we travel, but I can see why people would want to just escape here. It's just lovely. It's home. We dined at Maggie's Pub while here. From what I understand, all of the restaurants on site are farm to table. We sat at a candlelit table for two by the window. I sipped a seasonal spiced pumpkin pie martini and hubby got a seasonal draft. Both delicious, alcohol filled and represented the season so well. They are not on the regular drink menu however. I got the roasted Brussels, marinated olives and we split the truffle fries. I'm a sucker for truffle anything. Crisp and delicious. I loved my snacks. Sip & snacks. Lovely. Hubs ordered the lobster mac & cheese and just from the looks of it, it was filled with hunks of lobster. It was brought to the table in a small cast iron skillet and baked with toasted breadcrumbs. He said it was insanely incredible!! He ordered the seasonal apple pie a la mode for dessert which he said was also delicious. It looked so. We would absolutely recommend this place and come here again! Autumn was the perfect time to do so. After gathering my photos for this review, I want to go back like NOW!! Make sure you visit the cute shops in downtown Lake Placid and while there visit the kiddos practicing at the "Miracle On Ice" arena right at the end of the main strip. Also take a drive to see the 1980 winter Olympic Ski jumps!! This is what put Lake Placid on the map for most people. read more

There are not words to describe the beauty of this location right on Lake Placid, or the cozy warmth of the rooms. Only about a 5-10 min drive from the main town on Mirror Lake, we ended up spending most of our trip here in the lodge itself because it was so picturesque. We stayed in the Main Lodge where the staff was kind and attentive. We were here for our babymoon, and the woman at the desk went out of her way to get a sparkling lemonade for me instead of the usual champagne they welcome you with at the door. The room and bathroom were spacious, and we loved the balcony overlooking the lake. Even in the cold weather it was nice to step out and enjoy the fresh air and view. Breakfast at Artisan's was AMAZING. We also did Maggie's for dinner, but found it a bit pricey for food that wasn't as good as some of the places we went in town. Service, however was excellent at both places. Highly recommend, even if just for a long weekend as we did, for a weekend of scenic views and pampering. read more

There are no words to describe how magical our vacation here was . The view of the lake with the gorgeous mountains in the backdrop never ever got old and made us sigh each time . The cabins are glamping to another level . We stayed in two different rooms on this trip because we loved it so much and extended by two more nights but our birch cabin was not available so they moved us to an equally nice lake front suite called the Loon . The birch cabin was stunning in every way and incredibly spacious . I could live in it it was so perfect and two separate bathrooms in the cabin made it even more comfortable for two . We literally each had our own bathroom ! What more could you ask for . The view was ridiculously amazing . The restaurant delicious at every meal . The lake activities , boating and swimming just so so so so much fun . Water temp was reasonable and I swam in it a number of times . Super highly recommend the hacker craft vintage boat ride through the lake which believe it or not is complimentary ! Imagine that ! No better value for money . Pricey hotel but worth every penny . Our lake front suite was brand new and impeccably furnished / designed . Martha Stewart would be oh so proud . The Adirondack theme played out and executed to perfection . I have nothing bad to say about this place . A must must visit and somewhere I'd not have even visited had it not been for Covid that has fortunately inspired me to explore parts of the country I already live in . I want to come back here once a year and I'm one of those people who feel it blasphemous to repeat vacation destinations but it's blasphemous not to come back that's how glorious and magical this place . This is really more of a cautionary tale. The hotel is very pretty and generally well kept. Problem is that it is not remotely suited for single business travelers. They make little to no accommodation for dining or activities if you aren't with a couple or family with kids. They blame late starting breakfast and inability to sit at the bar on COVID or whatever other random thing. They will appease you with false promises of change. We stayed between Christmas and New Years, where the resort seemed to be about half full or a bit less most of the time. I'll start with pluses. The Lake Placid Lodge view and the hard product in the cabins and the lodge are amazing. We stayed in the Owl's Head and our view was just great. I'm sure the view is just as amazing in the summer where you can get a great view of all the wildlife on the lake. Our cabin was large and very comfortable. The real wood burning fireplace added some needed warmth and plenty of charm as well. The bathroom was very large and well laid out. My wife liked the vanity in the bathroom and even though we didn't use the sauna, it seemed like a great amenity to have in room, especially in the cold winter. The room was clean and well maintained. Our only issue was the blanket on the couch clearly had a wet dog or two on it and smelled as such. Odd it wasn't replaced after such a stay. Other than that though the room was great. Other pluses were the quality of the food on site. Artisans for dinner provided both excellent service and food. Maggies for dinner as well as Artisans for breakfast still had great food, but were hampered but lack of staff so service was subpar at best. More on that in the cons. We had in room massages and the service the hotel outsources to was great. The ladies were perfectly on time, professional and did a great job. We highly recommend getting some in room treatments if you stay here. Now for the cons. The service at the Lodge really seems to be trying hard, but must be hampered by lack of staffing or other issues. When I called a month or two before we arrived to ask some questions about the cabin layouts and amenities, the lady on the phone told me to just look online. The reason I was calling was because the website didn't answer my questions. I ended up booking Owl's Head, the most expensive cabin available, simply because it was the only description that had everything we needed. I later learned any lake front cabin would have done just as well to meet what we wanted. Maggie's for dinner and Artisans for breakfast were very short staffed. Breakfast took nearly 2 hours each morning. We weren't in any hurry, being on vacation, but I think that's way too long for any breakfast, especially since we each just ordered one entree and nothing very complicated. Maggie's took almost as long, which isn't bad for dinner, but again excessive for just an entree and some drinks. We arrived when Maggie's was maybe half empty so were able to get our orders in before the rush. By the time we were settled in we saw many people waiting 20 or 30 minutes to just get noticed by the staff. Food was excellent even with the delays, but clearly something needs to be done so people are attended to. The biggest issue came though with how the hotel dealt with a rather small lapse in service. Our room wasn't serviced one day. We called before we left for dinner and they assured us someone would come by later to take care of it. Turn down came, but not housekeeping which ended up meaning we were short toweled and missing a few other things. Turndown took any used towels and items, but didn't replace them. We called and asked for them to just bring replacement items and service the room tomorrow when we got back from dinner, and again someone assured us they would stop by shortly. We fell asleep without anyone coming by. The next morning, knowing breakfast would take hours we called to ask them to come by. There was also a fireplace issue so we asked them to fix that as well while we were out. They assured us they would get it done while we ate, but of course they did not. After breakfast the front desk wasn't picking up so I had to walk all the way back, another 5 minute walk in the negative temperature weather, to talk to them in person. The craziest thing I found out is someone had come to our room, taken pictures of the broken fireplace, but not tried to fix it. While I waited in the lobby they sent someone to fix it, which apparently took less than five minutes. At this time the manager was made aware of our issues and of course our room was serviced immediately. This was a very minor issue, which could have been dealt with very easily at multiple times, but the hotel just dropped the ball over and over. Something that could have been fixed the night before or at least while we ate breakfast in less than 30 minutes, left us with a really negative impression of the entire stay. Overall I'm very torn. The location and lodge itself are beautiful. But unless I am somehow assured the lodge fixes its staffing issues to insure itself against any possible hiccups, I can't possibly recommend staying here. At about $1600 per night after the silly resort fee, which should just be included in the rate, I expect far more. read more

We have to say that this place is one of the most beautiful places in Lake Placid barnone. It may be more expensive but certainly worth the extra money because of the service and the accommodations alone. We walked through as visitors and we're treated like we were customers in every aspect. Not like the last place we went to the Whiteface Lodge. Beautiful but customer service was lousy This hotel has the most beautiful rooms you have ever seen if you like the Adirondack look and they have several rooms and many cottages that you can stay in right on the water. I would highly recommend the Lake Placid Lodge spend the extra money and have a beautiful time there. We are definitely going back and spending probably at least 4 days there because you get one for free after 3 so why not :-) read more

We had the BEST time at Lake Placid Lodge! Absolutely stunning, and I cannot say enough about the beauty of this cabin. It was the most beautiful place I'd ever stayed in my life. Just wood everywhere, a gorgeous log fire, a bed made of actual trees that looked like Gandalf would sleep in it. The cosiest sofa looking out to the lake, which was covered in snow over the ice and looked like a painting. HUGE windows looking out to the lake but lots of privacy by some nifty tree placement. The snow outside was 4 ft deep but all walkways were always well cleared. Huge icicles hanging from the ceiling like a fairytale. Red wine and chocolates greeted us. The setting and cabin were just perfection. Staff were superb! Wow they really did go out of their way for us, including lots of phonecalls to check plans, keep our activities running smoothly. I mean I knew it was going to be that special kind of stay when I was handed a champagne as we walked through the door. To say they went above and beyond is an understatement. Oh the ranger (so sorry I can't remember your name - it was a very unique name as well) drove us to the store in a truck to get beers because the bar had closed, which was pretty fun and great service. Yes, this place is not easy to get to(nothing in Lake Placid is), but believe me, it's worth the effort! Nestled along Lake Placid, this quaint lodge provided the ultimate in luxury and the perfect place for a romantic getaway. We were actually here for a family wedding. I'm sure there are several ways to get here, but we flew into Burlington,VT and then drove about 2 hrs through scenic roads,which also involved a ferry ride into New York State. Just a tip,you may not want to arrive in the dark, as it can be a bit difficult on the dark roads. We arrived on a snowy Friday night and I was actually a bit surprised that this place is smaller than I expected. I liked that. The staff helped us with our bags because our room was outside and down some stairs. This wasn't a bad thing. Our room was called the Cascades(a lot of them have names), and it was in a separate (but sort of connected) building. In our building all of the rooms were luxurious suites with a living room, bedroom, two fireplaces and a spacious outside balcony overlooking the lake! Soooo pretty! We used the fireplace often, as it was a snowy weekend. All amenities were modern. The decor is upscale rustic. My only complaint about the room was that there are no TVs. I get that some people really want to get away from the world and relax, but I like a TV in my room. All restaurants here were very upscale and they don't even allow children in some of them at certain times,so be sure to ask about this if you plan on bringing kids. The food here was amazing and the chef is especially gifted at making delicious breakfast pastries. They did a beautiful job making the wedding ceremony memorable and the open bar and reception room were perfect. Everyone commented on how beautiful it looked with the white twinkly lights, etc. We had a delicious brunch the morning after the wedding, complete with a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar! Although it does take some effort to get here, it definitely makes for a very special getaway! read more

We were very lucky to score deal staying here. What a large townhome this was. Very comfortable and clean. They have a sauna in the bathroom which was OK I guess but I rather have a washer and dryer since we were there a week. You have to drag your laundry to another location and pay for it if you want to do your laundry. Very convenient to downtown so walking everywhere was awesome and it was peaceful there I would come back. read more

This place is, literally, as good as it gets. I cannot even begin to comment as my head is awash in various compliments. I have stayed here 4 times now and each time is even better than the last. The staff are some of the most unique and interesting people I have encountered in my travels. Someone should write a book about this place. But what actually sets them apart from almost every other hotel/restaurant/resort is this: they give a shit. They REALLY are happy to see their guests happy - and it's genuine. I have stayed at many a "5-star" hotel with the required litany of "Hello sir!" and "What can I do for you?" and it always feels the same, they're taught "Courtesy" and they follow it fine, but they don't really care. I probably wouldn't either, were I them. But Lake Placid has found a cast of unique people who are amazing at their jobs and take a genuine interest in their guests. I was told by a guest I spoke to that she had mentioned to her waiter at dinner that she loved the book he was reading (she had seen him come in to his shift with it in his hand,) and they had a 15 minute discussion about the book in the dining room. She told him that she was almost finished with it but had sadly left it at home. When the waiter got off work that night, he went to the Rite Aid and bought a copy, went back to the lodge, and left it with the desk to give to her the next day. She was beside herself with the thoughtfulness of this act. I don't think anyone I've ever DATED would be this thoughtful - but he just shrugged his shoulders when I asked him about it - "That's how we do things here." Needless to say - there is attention to every detail - it is immaculate, the views are stunning, and just about every request is promptly addressed. And many rooms and cabins have fireplaces and wood. And they are extremely dog-friendly. One of the staff who was cleaning my room said my dog looked anxious to get outside so she took her for a quick walk. (Everyone loves my dog.) And apparently being a dog person is almost a requirement for being hired here. That says a lot about the management style and ethos of this unrivaled oasis. read more

I am local and had a friend come into town and they made reservations at the Lodge and invited me to stay, and, of course, I took them up on the offer. As with a previous visit that I had the place is amazing, from the very minute you walk through the door. But I have to say the highlight of my stay was Michael Amell. Micheal went above and beyond to ensure my friend, her family and myself had a truly amazing stay. Michael was professional, kind, accommodating and spoiled us whenever possible. Had a great dinner here last night. We sat out on the porch which overlooked Lake Placid. The views were breathtaking and the property is spectacular. I had reserved our table using OpenTable and they made sure to take care of all the details that I had included in the request field. Everything was at the table that I requested, which made for a great start to the evening. Dinner started with the crab salad and seared scallops. Excellent first course! The crab salad was loaded with fresh crab meat and the scallops were beautifully caramelized and very sweet. The main course included pan seared halibut and beef tenderloin. The beef was exceptional and perfectly cooked. The halibut was very good, although a tad over done I thought. Dessert included Coconut Rice Pudding, Passion Fruit Sorbet Macerated Raspberries and their Summer Fruit Crisp, which was made with Apples (thought Apple was a fall fruit). Both selections were fantastic. The Rice Pudding was especially refreshing (from what I'm told). Having been to another Relais and Chateaux property before (Blantyre), Lake Placid Lodge has a more casual feel to it, and the menu pricing reflects this. It is not the same dining experience as Blantyre, but it is a nice balance to make sure we come back next time we are in Lake Placid. read more

Went to Lake Placid in the winter. Stayed at the Mt. Marble cabin. It is all inclusive and very cozy. They even have turn down service. The second night they put bath salts and bubbles for the bath tub. The food was great and they are very accommodating. They leave the cookies and chocolates in your room and granola. read more

The lodge is finally back! This Relais & Chateaux had a fire about 3 years ago, which completely destroyed their beautiful lodge from the 1800's. Luckily the cabins were not affected by the fire, so the hotel was able to stay operational, but they unfortunately had to stop serving dinner to off property guests. After two years of rebuilding, the lodge and their new dining room, Artisans, is back and better than ever! The staff is friendly, the views are breathtaking and the food is to die for. If you do not need a place to stay while visiting Lake Placid, you should still stop by for a tour and dinner prepared by Chef Kevin McCarthy! read more

Shocked to see there is even one mixed review of this spot. It's simply breathtaking. The lodge itself seems like something out of a book, where every great detail is better than the last. Nestled right along the lake, it's quite a serene spot to take in the gorgeous area. The casualness of the lodge starts from the moment you step in the door and continues as you wind your way floor by floor. Maggie, the resident golden retriever meandered the property during our time at the lodge. She even popped into the dining room during dinner. While we didn't have lunch on property, we did have a really fantastic dinner. Every dish was amazing, especially the salmon which will deserve an attempt at home. The wine list would rival any in NY and the Bay Area, with the bottle prices matching those on either coast. We sat out on the deck, me huddled in a lodge blanket, taking in the lake and enjoying a truly memorable meal. I'd bet there isn't anything better for a few hundred miles. Oh, and make sure you wander the grounds. The tented deck would have been in Domino. With gorgeous Persian rugs and comfy chairs, it's just about the greatest! Did I mention the bonfire, adirondack chairs and s'mores? Seriously, this is heaven. read more

This is a review of Artisans at the Lake Placid Lodge, and not the lodge itself. The location is a bit hidden away, but that just adds to the atmosphere. Though the building is only about 15 years old, it is made to look like it has been there since before the depression. The many authentic artifacts housed within do create that feeling. Artisans has many different rooms on multiple levels. Some preferred to be seen, but the table we got on the lower floor was just fine. They have a four course menu, but you can order individually as well. The beef was properly cooked, but the taste was just merely good. Opt for the fish (salmon, in our case) instead, which was fantastic. And ABSOLUTELY DO HAVE the Valrhona Caramelia Tart!! It will make your meal! The rating is for the whole dining experience. We'll definitely be back there if we are in Lake Placid in the warmer weather. They have tables with terrific views! read more

We came here only for lunch one day. Now, this place is top notch. It is beyond 5 stars. I would have loved to stay here for the weekend, but their rooms go from a low as $450 a night (yes they consider that low) to $800 a night. If you take a look at the pictures you can see how amazing this place is. When you walk into the place you are taken away to how beautiful it is. Everything is top of the line and looks like you are outdoors. We were seated outside, so we can take in the views of the lake. The chairs were super comfy and they had heaters built into the roof so the customers were not to cold on a chilly day. They also had throw blankets and a ton of fireplaces going since it was a little rainy and cold out the day we went. As far as the food goes, it was pretty good. Not the best I have ever had, but the atmosphere made up for it. I had a grilled brie cheese sandwich with tomato with a side of seasoned fries. My friend had the cheeseburger with seasoned fries. Again, both were pretty good. Then when the bill came out, our waitress informed us that it was tea time and there was complimentary tea, coffee and cookies out in the front, so of course we had to try the cookies. We both shared a chocolate peanut butter cookie, oatmeal cookie and blueberry scone. All three were amazing. They were so chewy and delicious. Anothe place I need to visit again!!! read more

Maybe the best meal I have eaten in years (don't tell my mama, she'll get jealous!) My boyfriend brought me to visit Lake Placid for the first time earlier this summer, and it was abolutely incredible. The food was delicious and incredibly innovative. We had the 8 course tasting menu which is a total surprise. They ask you if you have allergies or prefences, but other than that, you have no idea what is coming to your table. It was absolutely fantastic. I tried all sorts of things I never would have ordered, but loved! We ate outdside and had a lovely fire going to us (yes, a fire in the summer---what a novel concept).The view was really lovely on the lake with the mountains and trees in the distance. It was the most amazing meal and experience. The service was truly exceptional as well. When a waiter overheard me mention it was cold, they brought me and my boyfriend an afghan! Wow! It was really a lovely evening, with a very distinguished, refined atmosphere and incredible meal. read more

This is the perfect Adirondack get away. It has wonderful comfortable rooms, with the best feather beds ever. Every room is decorated so cutely, and the big old porch with the blankets to cuddle up in is a great place to sit down and read a book. It's a beautiful, scenic location and is pet friendly to boot. read more

An amazing experience staying at this lodge this past weekend to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. The location of the lodge on the lake and the views of the surrounding mountains and valleys are perfect. In one Saturday we managed to go for a paddle, hike along the local trails, adventure out on their mountain bikes, take a boat tour in a classic wood boat, and watch a presentation on birds of prey. We enjoyed breakfast on the outdoor terrace overlooking the lodge grounds and waterfont. Dinner at Artisans on Saturday was followed by cozying up around the outdoor firepit by the water. The charm of the lodge, the beautiful landscape, and the outgoing and friendly staff members made this weekend so special. This place has it all going for it. read more
